OldSkoolBasketballParticipantBlazers, Spurs, Thunder
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/24/2010 - 9:28am #259954

M-DYMESParticipantI’m saying the Warriors…
Key Picks
01- Jason Richardson
01- Troy Murphy
01- Gilbert Arenas
02- Mike Dunleavy
03- Mikael Pietrus
04- Andreas Biedrins
05- Monte Ellis
07- Marco Belinelli
08- Anthony Randolph
09- Steph CurryThat 01 draft is crazy

BlazermannParticipantokay i see your point and yet there losers
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/24/2010 - 9:38am #259957

M-DYMESParticipantCuz they shipped off alot ofthose picks before they reached their prime years. Good drafting, bad management of those players.

BlazermannParticipantthats crazy that got all those players and have one of the leagues worst teams to top that off the still have don nelson as head coach
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/24/2010 - 10:23am #259963

cuseflynn10Participant1999- Shawn Marion
2000- Iakovos Tsakalidis
2001- Alton Ford
2002- Amare` Stoudemire and Corey Jacobsen
2003- Zarko Cabarkapa
2004- Luol Deng
2005- Nate Robinson and Marcin Gortat
2006- Rajon Rondo and Sergio Rodriguez
2007- Rudy Fernadez and DJ Strawberry
2008- Robin Lopez and Malik Hairston
2009- Earl Clark and Danny GreenThey were one of the best drafting teams, but it’s a matter of the players they kept. Marion, Stoudemire`, Deng, Robinson, Gortat, Rondo, Fernandez and maybe a few of the 2008-2009 draftees have the potential to be or are great. That is 7 players plus Nash is the face of the franchise. That’s 8 star players. That’s a pretty solid team as long as they could get it to work financially.

illinimanmarkParticipantyou cant give the suns credit for all of the picks they sold because the other teams told them who to pick.

the I in winParticipantThe Blazers actually didn’t draft either Roy or Aldridge. They drafted Tyrus Thomas and Randy Foye and traded both for the aformentioned. Thomas and Foye are decent players but i would say they made smart trades, not picks. Also drafting Oden was a gimme, sure durant is amazing and will be for the next 10 years but how many teams win it without a great big man which Oden can be.
The answer to my own question is MJ and no one else.

sheltwon3ParticipantI like what OKC has done but I guess you can’t say drafting i think you should just add management because teams that suck get a chance at better players but good team get player no matter where like this year New Orleans got Thorton and Collison. One was 21st pick and the other a second rounder. These players are playing out of this world right now and allowing the Hornets to hang in the playoff race without their best player. If New Orleans can duplicate this next draft they will be a season away from being a championship contender.

the microwaveParticipantto me its a no brainer.. its SA spurs hands down..
TONY PARKER 1st round 28th pick – 2001
JOhn Salmons 1st round 26th pick – 2002 (went to philly but they picked him)
Luis Scola 2nd round 27th pick – 2002
Leandro Barbosa 1st round 28th pick – 2003
Tiago Splitter 1st round 28th pick – 2007
George Hill 1st round 26th pick – 2008
Dejuan Blair 2nd round 7th pickIm not making everyone which also includes udrih, and goran dragic both solid role players… For how late the spurs pick everyone season in the draft they generally find a stud…… Parker / Scola / Splitter / Barbosa / Blair / Hill were all great picks.. How many tms can say they have selected 6 picks out of the last 10 yrs as talented as the spurs got for where they pick yr in and yr out..

RickyRubio9ParticipantThe Houston Rockets.
2001 – Richard Jefferson, Jason Collins, Brendon Armstrong
2002 – Yao Ming!!! Boki Nachbar, and Tito Maddox
2003 – Malik Bardiane
2004 – Luis Flores
2005 – Luther Head,
2006 – Rudy Gay, Steve Novak, Lior Eliyahu
2007 – Aaron Brooks, Carl Landry
2008 – Nicolas Batum, Maarty Leunen
2009 – Jermaine Taylor, Chase Budinger, Sergio LlullWe bought Landry, and all of our 2009 Picks, but I mean, THEY had agreed to buy the picks before hand with the teams on a few of those. Maybe not the best, but
Yao is a Star
Richard Jefferson has been a Very Good Player
Boki was a Solid Role Player
Luther is a Starter/Role Player…I say Starter ’cause he starts on the Pacers.
Rudy is a Budding Star
Aaron Brooks and Landry are both Above Average Starters
Nicolas Batum is a Starter
Chase Budinger is a Very Nice Prospect0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/24/2010 - 12:35pm #260027

Jayhawks2011ParticipantI think the timberwolves have done a great job drafting. They managed to draft 2 point guards in the top 6, and then 2 more in the same draft!!! Plus, they always make the best draft day trades… oh wait… just kidding.

SwatLakeCityParticipantOk I understand that alot of teams have drafted good players, but very few of those players have actually stayed with that team. Many of the teams that people have mentioned here have horrible player management. To me drafting a player and keeping the player on the team goes hand in hand. (the player might get good elsewhere because they reach their prime and full potential.) Teams need to keep the players they draft so they can reach their full potential, and then if they never do then they can trade him elsewhere.
My picks for best draft teams are the Spurs, Thunder, Jazz, and Rockets. Most of the players these teams have drafted have sticked with the team, and their trades have actually proved to be good picks. (not good picks after the player has already left the original team that drafted him)0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/24/2010 - 5:59pm #260122

llperezyou can’t give too much credit for the cavs drafting Lebron, everyone knew he was going #1, it was just a matter of who got that pick.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/24/2010 - 6:53pm #260131
j1232eParticipantdoes an obvious pick as lebron count as drafting good! You should hold your head in same your team was that lousy to draft that high!

NYK2010ParticipantCavs u would say becaz of Boozer
Spurs and Suns0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/24/2010 - 7:23pm #260142

llperezboozer was good, but how about lottery picks on luke jackson and dejuan wagner?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/25/2010 - 4:31am #260176

marcusfizer21Participantllperez22 just hit you with a good argument on that… 2004 draft particularly when they passed over Josh Smith and JR Smith to draft………Luke Jackson… (eeehhhhhhh?)
With that in mind I think the best drafting team of the decade would be the Spurs… They just are able to find gems in the late rounds of the draft… Tony Parker anyone? I would consider Manu even if he was drafted in 1999… George Hill and now DeJuan Blair? Wow… No wonder this team is so good… despite being you know… sleeping pills…

Anton123ParticipantCavs are like one of the worst drafting teams, LeBron James was a no brainer, but except him…
Trajan Langdon
Jamal Crawford (immediatly exchanged for Chris Mihm, really?)
Sagana Diop
Dajuan Wagner
Luke Jackson
Shannon Brown
JJ Hickson
Christian EyengaThis is a full list of the Cavs first rounders (except LeBron) of the last decade. JJ and Shannon weren’t bad picks, but c’mon! Diop, Wagner, Jackson, Langdon and Mihm? Really?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/25/2010 - 4:15pm #260413

R-Dot-13ParticipantWell I was joking actually
Lovin the negatives though. The best drafting team is actually Oklahoma city I think

quinceyhodgesin the cavs defense at the time mihm, wagner and langdon were all considered to become good players. there were other teams that were gonna draft them early in the first round. ..they are just ;ucky the cavs beat them to the punch..lol. i believe if it wasnt for the injury wagner would have been like monta ellis
