 I need to have Synergy Sports explain to me how Al Jefferson is a better defensive player then Dwight Howard. That just doesn’t make any sense. I may be a Jazz fan but I know that Howard is much better defensively. Some whack rankings that site has, that’s for sure.

 How does that compare to the eye test though? Howard, Noah, Gortat, Camby, Dalembert, Nene, Ibaka, Robin Lopez, Blair are def better defenders than several of the people above them. I understand why Oden isn’t on the list, but what about Perkins? ? There’s a lot of guys on there that get help when they are posted up so I guess I like that the attempt was made, but it seems like individual defense is better judged by an eye test, than any available statistical analysis. 

It’d be interesting to see what an individual players "PPP" in this case, versus other individual players and how that compares to when other big guys are defending them. For example Bogut’s PPP when he is guarding Howard and how that compares to Glen Davis when he is guarding Howard. I still don’t know how accurate that would be. . .

I love the first comment on that site’s table which says this: "What this tells me is the Darko Milicic is DPOY." I thinking "What", the Wolves are like the worst defensive team in the NBA, how is Darko, who is their starting center, DPOY? 

According to Synergy Sports, its either Opposite Day or Dwight Howard somehow robs the DPOY every year from the true winner. Again, Synergy Sports is really messed up

 Mainly cause you need to think of matchups , usage, and how they affect the game. Howard is not worse then Jefferson and Lopez isnt worse then Bargs. We know this but Bargs’ sample size on guarding better players is likely very small

 Yeah if a guy gets help every time they are posted up, and then the help comes and the offensive guy passes out of the postup, does that mean that the original defender gets credit for successfully defending the post up?

As people can tell who have looked at my posts, I like stats, but defensive stats are really tricky. Still, thanks for posting, I’m going to check this out.
