MagikKnickParticipantPG: Rajon Rondo (i think hes overrated…but hes still a great defender)
SG: Hard one…lets go with Andre Iguodala
SF: Shane Battier
PF: iono…..Kevin Garnett
C: Dwight Howard…i was hesitant to say Kendrick Perkins but Howard is a way better shot blocker…which creates a better “presence” overallMake Yours!

purpleFROGParticipantPG- Kidd, not as fast anymore but still a good defender
SG- Kobe
SF-Shane Battier/ Ron Artest
PF- Kevin Garnett

doubledribblerParticipantPG: Rondo…I’m not sure anyone is as much of a pesk and the guy seems glued when he’s defending on the ball.
SG: Artest…not really much to pick from. Kobe seems to be the popular choice, but I feel that Ron is more consistent defensively and brings effort more often than Kobe. Kobe generally just picks spots to play D or just brings it at the end of games. With that said, Ron’s not what he used to be.
SF: Battier…no one is more disciplined on d. Doesn’t have the ridiculous numbers, but that is because he is so sound. I honestly think he is the best defender in the NBA period.
PF: Garnett…I’m kind of surprised that he’s still the best now because of all the wear and tear but he brings it every night. Able to guard out on the perimeter as well as inside. Alter shots and still rebounds at a high rate.
C: Duncan…another solid guy. I think Dwight has more electrifying moments, but he’s still not a disciplined defender. Sometimes he goes for blocks instead of staying on his feet or tries to kill shots out of bounds instead of trying to keep them in bounds.0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/25/2009 - 6:30pm #223785

JJeff6Participantwat about guys like roy hibbert, not sayin hibbert is ur guy, but sure can block a shot. CP3 is a great one too, as well as all of the celtics and spurs. RAJA BELL seriously underrated defender

marcusfizer21ParticipantBest Defenders:
PG- Chris Paul is one of the best pickpocketers in the league…
SG- Kobe Bryant is probably the best wing defender right now… He just don’t let anyone get easy buckets.
SF- Shane Battier… I remember when Kobe was asked who defends him the best and without hesitation, he answered,” Shane Battier”… A pretty compliment from a great offensive player.
PF- Kevin Garnett- The 2008 Defensive Player of the Year and the glue that binds the Celtic D.
C- Dwight Howard- The 2009 Defensive Player of the Year and the guy that makes the Magic run like a well-oiled machine on the defensive side… Such a beast.0 - Posted on: Sun, 10/25/2009 - 9:35pm #223808
bubbleryanParticipantPg- Russel Westbrook- Quick and long, still getting better.
Sg- Courtney Lee- even as a rookie he stood up pretty well against everyone else’s main scorers. Probably not the best yet, but he is already up there.
Sf- Battier- He kinda has to be on the list.
Pf- Tim Duncan- Only over KG because he is healthier this year.
C- Dwight Howard- easy one.

The Big OPick up game “all-Defense” scenario
Dwyane Wade (*)
Andre Iguodala (1-2-3 position)
Lebron James(**)
Dwight Howard (natural position)
Yao Ming (just his presence)
*combo guard, at the PG he has great size and is more of a factor in transition defense than CP3
**Shane Battier will foul out guarding an elite wing (Kobe), Lebron will not… Knowing when not to FOUL is also a key part of defense0 - Posted on: Mon, 10/26/2009 - 10:45am #223906

Im Your FatherParticipantHow is he a “natural power-forward?” Just because he is not 7′ tall does not make him a 4. He plays exactly like a center.

The Big O“How is he a “natural power-forward?” Just because he is not 7′ tall does not make him a 4. He plays exactly like a center.”
Yao Ming plays exactly like a finesse power forward so what r u saying?
because he is 7’6 tall Yao cannot guard quicker 4s. Howard on the other hand can defend other PFs. He got drafted as a F/C. he’s quick enough to guards PFs. He’s just a better option at center UNLESS you have Yao Ming on your team, thus he’s at the PF spot .)

The Big OHe plays like Shaq but he’s Kevin Durant’s height.
He plays like a center (that is an INSULT to 7 footers Patrick Ewing,Lew Alcindor, and Wilt Chamberlain)He’s the same size as Al Jefferson, he just has more help side blocks

Im Your FatherParticipantHe is definitely quick enough to guard 4s, but he was the DPOY playing Center. He is best served holding down the paint and anchoring Orlando’s defense. His game is much more suited to that of a Center, therefore, he is clearly not a natural power forward. We had this exact same discussion about Deron Williams. Just because a player is capable of playing/guarding another position, doesn’t make it their natural one. Yes Howard can defend power forwards, but he is much better when he is playing Center. Therefore, he is a natural center.

The Big OIf u were a coach on the floor and u had every PF/C
u would sit Yao Ming on the benchand if so thats cool bcuz its only an opinion
and Deron williams at the 2 isn’t better 4 the team but I think in this case
Yao Ming and Howard would be better 4 an ALL DEFENSE TEAM.
