Its a good thing your coaching staff can teach basketball to rookies and young players.

i like the work Doc Rivers has done with Rondo and Nate, Nate played like a true point when Rondo was injured, he looked nothing than the Nate in NY.

I will give Rivers the best teaching coach in NBA today.

What do you guys think about Rivers and other good coach teachers?

I see Rivers as more of a motivator than a teacher. 

I think Skiles is and always has been an excellent teacher.  His abrasive personality (which he has scaled back a bit) eventually wears thin on players and they tune him out.  However, from a tactical standpoint, his players are prepared for what the other team is going to throw at them and he has the ability to adjust when the other team counters.  It is kind of a subjective question because you can interpret coach/teacher in many ways, but that is my take.

Popovich and Sloan seem to be able to take guys picked near the end of the 1st round and sometimes second, and turn them into solid players. They might just be very good talent evaluators though.

Talking about current coaches and teaching skill, I’d probably go Gregg Popovich.

I’m a Temple Grad, and I give Chaney credit for the life skills he taught his players, but I was not a fan of his coaching abilities, especially his last decade or so. He was too stubborn to change his style to make it more compatible with the way basketball was played during that era. He cared nothing at all about teaching his guys offense. I was tickled pink when he retired, but HATED they hired Fran Dumphy who has a coaching style similar to Chaney.
