the microwaveParticipantWho is the best 3-point shooter in NBA history?
1. Larry Bird – when you think of 3-point shooters you think of of #33
2. Steve Kerr – has the best all time percentage: .4540
3. Mark Price – league’s all-time free throw percentage leader and a 40% three-point field goal shooting percentage
4. Reggie Miller – 2,217 career 3-point FGs made
5. Steve Nash – is the best active player by percentage: .4256

9. Dan Majerle – known for some big 3-pt playoff shots

11. Darrell Griffith – known as Dr. Dunkenstein but became a great shooter in latter half of his career
12. Kobe Bryant – 12 three-point FGs in a single game (L.A. Lakers vs. Seattle, January 7, 2003)
13. Donyell Marshall – 12 three-point FGs in a single game (Toronto vs. Philadelphia, March 13, 2005)0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/21/2009 - 3:55am #185914

llperezgreat list, but you are gonna have to explain to me how Mad Max is on it. That dude shot like 30% and jacked up crazy threes. How can he be on the list?

the microwaveParticipantMY MAD MAX THEORY… (HOPE THIS SHOWS YOU WHY I CHOSE HIM, MAX NEVER MET A SHOT HE DIDNT LIKE, NO CONSCIOUS)
Led the Kings in three-point percentage (.346) and ranked 2nd on the team in three-pointers made (80, 12th in the NBA) and attempted (231, 11th) in 1998-99
Scored his 10,000th career point against the Portland Trail Blazers on 3/31/99
A member of the 1994 and 1995 Houston Rockets NBA championship teams
Is the Rockets’ all-time career leader in three-pointers made (777) and attempted (2,442)Set a Rockets franchise record with 17 three-point attempts against the Boston Celtics on 12/17/94
Established Rockets franchise records in 1990-91 with 172 three-pointers made and 510 attempts
Is one of only five players in NBA history to lead the league in three-pointers made in two different seasons, in 1990-91 (172) and in 1991-92 (162)0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/21/2009 - 4:39am #185939

llperezI respect the fact that you can at least back up why you puy Max on the list. But I watched him play his whole career, and he was known for having ZERO concious. He never saw a shot he did’nt like. But reality is he only hit like 30% and was far more likely to shoot his team out of a game before he shot his team into a game. He was like John starks, but probably even more inconsistent. Top 20 3pt shooter is a real stretch for Mad Max. He had teammates like Kenny Smith and Robert Horry who should be higher on the list then him.

the microwaveParticipanti have a ? for you as well.. You said tracy murray.. Did you mean or did you mean lamond murray?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/21/2009 - 4:48am #185944

llperezI put him into the same category as Chris Paul. Great shooter when he had all day to set his feet and square up. But the truly great 3 point shooters in this league would pull up without hesitation or any room and shoot with confidence. Reggie Miller used to say that if he got to set his feet all day and square up, he would have shot 70% from 3. Mario Ellie needed all day to get his shot off.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/21/2009 - 4:50am #185945

llperezTracy and Lamond were brothers. Lamond was the younger brother and went to Cal. Tracy was older and went to UCLA. Lamond was the better overall player, but Tracy could hit threes all day. He made a solid career off of strictly hitting threes.

the microwaveParticipanthow about dana Barros (as i sit here more and more come to mind)
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/21/2009 - 4:56am #185949

llperezYes, he is a guy I forgot about. He only had like a 5 year stretch where he was an elite shooter. But he is definitely in the convo. He made one all-star game in 1994 or 95 with Philly. No doubt a great shooter. But he also had a bit of a set shot that needed some space for him to get if off with any consistency. Now that I think about it, how the hell did I forget about Dell Curry, Steph’s dad…?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/21/2009 - 5:03am #185952
the microwaveParticipantman dell was a beast… (anyone remember the gm manut bol hit , i want to say 6 3’s in a gm)… not a elite shooter by any means just a moment ill never forget
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/21/2009 - 5:05am #185957

llperezYeah he hit 6 3’s in a game. All of them were from straight away at the top of circle. It was ridiculous. That’s some crazy memories right there.
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/21/2009 - 6:27am #185999
grizz_fan7ParticipantAnthony Morrow anyone?? he led the league in 3pt% last season as a ROOKIE!
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/21/2009 - 6:32am #186000
xbadgerhustlerParticipantthe question was of ALL TIME… hahaha soooo what he did as a rookie puts him amongst the greatest of all time?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/21/2009 - 6:46am #186007
jordanrose13ParticipantDefinitely the best. Also, as a Bulls fan I’ve always been partial to Kerr, the biggest baby face in the league.

dwat4444ParticipantRay allen is one of my favorite players of all-time. He is the best 3 point shooter of all time. He’s still got like 2-3 years left and I’ll bet he gets 400 more by the time his career is over.

0 - Posted on: Tue, 07/21/2009 - 8:58am #186126
aarondsonixfanParticipantRay Allen has to be the best shooter in the universe. His form is absolutely perfect, and when you watch him shoot, you want to shoot like him. Reggie Miller was a good 3 shooter too, but I really think that Ray has him beat. He will beat Miller’s record
