nick5354ParticipantWord around Vagas is Anthony Bennett has come to camp in GREAT shape.
Last year he was way overweight and out of condition with that shoulder injury and really struggled to get into shape and contribute on the team
On the Cavs instagram page they posted a video of a team practice where Bennett threw down a big dunk.
Here is the link http://instagram.com/cavs. It is the first video (for some reason linking the video wouldn’t work)
Here is a interview he did talking about various things, including his shape and form.

Last year his weight really ballooned out and gained almost 40 pounds after the draft and was around 260-270lbs a lot of the season. He is down to 240. In the video he looks like he is in fantastic shape and relished an injury free and healthy preseason.
He isn’t the player to go down to 220 or 230ish. One of his strongest attributes is his strength and athleticism so going too light will not be such a good idea or natural for him.
He is the player I am most looking forward to watching in the Vagas summer league, even more then Wiggins. Hopefully this weight loss and getting in great shape with a good pre season can help him to get past a disappointing rookie season.

What The DevilParticipantHe really did have a lot of bad things happen at once. Being hurt so he couldn’t work out, heard he has asthma so it wasn’t like he was going to be able shed all the weight immediately, and the most important factor was that he had Mike Brown as a coach….talk about offensive career killers

RUDEBOY_ParticipantBeing overweight was 1 of his problems last season…His terrible shot selection was another..Dude was jacking up 3 pointers the minute he got into the game….lol…Even though he’s not a franchise type player,he’s better than what he showed last yr…

nick5354ParticipantHis bad shot selection would be due to his lack of confidence. When you are out of shape and not in the best form you have a tendency to just take easy quick shots. I think having a good pre season is important for him. He sounds like just a really good young guy and needs some confidence.
The mike brown comment before is a good one. In the interview Bennett said how the first thing Blatt told him is how he will help Bennett reach his potential. Hopefully Blatt can do this, I kind of feel sorry for Mike Brown, he is just am awful offensive coach, so Bennett would have had a hard time under brown being such a good offensive player.

JCliff24ParticipantI am definitely pulling for this kid. I cant imagine being that young and being the laughing stock of your passion. Hoping to see him shut some people up.

hbomb3300ParticipantI’ve seen pics… he’s in fantastic shape! Last year he had no energy, no lift in his shot, and low confidence. I think he will blow up his rookie numbers this year… somewhere around 10 ppg 7 reb and 45% fg and 36% from 3.
