Bob BallParticipantBennett for Thad young was just reported on hoopshype.com twolves very active this summer. I like young as Younger Vetearn on a team full of youth. All reports are he’s a true professional.

Lebronda JamesParticipantgood trade for philly to collect more assets. im guessing noel at the 5. bennett stretch 4. see how it works this year then move noel to 4, embiid at 5, and bennett off bench. not bad, now all philly needs is a wing who can score

TyroberParticipantI like it a lot for the Sixers. They are sticking to the plan with collecting so many young assets. They will get another top pick next year and and most likely another one in the 2016. The Sixers have the potential to have the best young team in the league by 2017 and I know that seems far away, but that has been their plan all along and they seem to be executing it quite well.

goddagParticipantThey’ll have to be more to this trade because it doesn’t match up salary wise. A salary dump of Barea maybe?

ballislyfe25ParticipantReally don’t like the move at all for Minnesota, love it for Philadelphia though.
I just don’t see the point for Minnesota. I believe Thaddeus Young will be a free agent after this season and reports have it that he wishes to play for a contender. Well, Minnesota won’t be contending anytime soon. Minnesota must be willing to give him a large contract, trade him during the season, or let him walk for nothing. Philadelphia had trouble trying to trade both he and Evan Turner to contenders this year, so what will make it any easier this year? If I’m Minnesota, I’m taking Anthony Bennett (age 21…think about that) and giving him 3-5 years to show continuous progress and development alongside Rubio (23), LaVine (19), Wiggins (19), and Dieng if they keep him around. This young core won’t win many games, especially in the Western Conference, therefore, they can add lottery picks to this core. Imagine adding Jahlil Okafor to this group, or Emmanuel Mudiay if they choose to move on from Rubio?
As for Philadelphia, pull the trigger on this deal. This year they can develop Bennett next to Noel, two players with games that should compliment each other in the front court (at least offensively, need to see a bit more from Bennett defensively). Add Embiid to in 2015-16 and this could be a real dangerous and versatile front court. Any combination of these 3 players could play well together.
Overall, I think Minnesota would be foolish to avoid a complete rebuild and try to win games with Thad Young. Take Bennett; he’s younger, has potential, plays well inside and out, can develop with other young and talented players, etc. Philadelphia is just adding another asset, except this time the asset will actually play significant minutes from the get go. And the asset is a young and talented player who will get time to develop under quality coaching and a rebuilding situation. A great match for player and team.

Ebown5ParticipantAs a Sixers fan I love the deal. For the Timberwolves it is a bad move.
I wonder if the Timberwolves experience with Derrick Williams soured them on dealing with underperforming inexperienced prospects like Bennett?
This is the NBA and all teams make moves for their ow reasons, but if would blow the team up and tank for a year or two. They should try to get rid of Pekovic too since he makes so much money.

goddagParticipantI don’t see how it’s a bad move for MN. They have enough young players after this draft gets done.
Plus your getting a guy that’s 26 played an average of 34.4 minutes per game and averaged 17.9 pts, and 6 rebounds a game last year compared to a kid at 21,that averaged 4.2 pts in 12.8 minutes playing time, and hasn’t proved a thing in the NBA, like if he’s capable of playing more minutes. Where’s the upside for MN?
Plus the money doesn’t even out so they’ll be a salary dump here also.
Wow if MN can make this trade for Bennett and a salary dump. It’s a laugher for them. We all remember D Williams, and the promise he had.0 - Posted on: Fri, 08/08/2014 - 7:08am #943852

APfromMSPParticipantI agree that this is a bad trade for the wolves but I could picture them packaging Thad and some sort of bad contract to another team eventually for picks or young talent… but that is me being optimistic.

burgessfourParticipantit’s almost too good to be true, has to be a bad contract or two coming along with Bennett. Don’t get me wrong, I still like a deal including bad contracts for the Sixers, but this has been on and off a few times already.

Mr. 19134ParticipantRubio is gonna love running the floor with Wiggins and Young. Thad is the type of player that’ll keep Rubio happy with his athleticism and finish ability.
I heard that the Sixers had the Holiday trade in place with NO only if Noels, Oladipo, Zeller or Bennet were left on the board. So it looks like Hinkie landed another one of his targets.

OhCanada-ParticipantBoth routes are good. You cant say one is better then the other its the overall vision that matters. If Minni went with Bennett to pair with his friend Wiggins I think that would workout well. Id imagine both players would drive eachother and have past chemistry to help bring the best out of eachother.
Thad gives the younger players on Minni a rolemodel and leader and helps them grow as a coordinated team. Minnesota hasnt been to the playoffs since KG left and what they did for almost a decade since the trade is stockpile assets the Philly way. They have a ton of assets and are now in a position where they may feel they need to organize those assets in a way that translates to wins with or without Love.
You think what Hinkie is doing is new? This would be the T-Wolves second rebuild since trading KG over almost a decade span with only one 40 win season and no playoff appearances. Damn!
They could probally get away with it due to the excitement and highlights Rubio, Lavine, Wiggins, and Muhammad, and Bennett would bring but it hasnt gotten them anywhere. You have to develop a winning culture and its about time they brought in a guy like Young. They probally would have competed for a playoff spot with Thad last year.
