Firstly the media hyped him to be the next LeBron and got that wrong, now they are saying he has character flaws, didn’t play hard and shouldn’t be the first pick. Could it be that they have it wrong again? Is Ben now underrated?

I’m not sure if "underrated" is the right word, but he surely has collected some haters and doubters this at LSU.  From not going to class to an embarrasing ending to the season, Ben Simmons has a short list of reasons to doubt him, but the only doubt when it comes to his talent is his shooting.  The kid loves basketball and he’ll be much better playing and living with professionals. The basketball culture at LSU was obviously a poor one, but this kid will be fine. I could see him averaging 15, 10, and 4 next year, playing similar to Julius Randle but with more passing and more minutes and responsibility. IMO he clearly has the best chance of being an all star in this draft.

He is a great prospect and a legit 1st overall pick for any draft. One could argue he is a better pick than say Andrew Wiggins. Although a lot of people are very high on Ingram that combined with the fact that Simmons can’t shoot and has coasted through games gives Ingram a legitimate argument as competition for the 1st pick.

Just watching him play in college in mostly losing efforts you could tell he was big time. The way he can pass rebound  dribble and be a force in the paint was unparalleled by anyone I’ve seen play college ball. I can see why everyone was comparing him to Lebron. He will be a double double machine and will end up with a whole hell of a lot of career triple doubles.

I have a hard time buying the fact that anyone who has been projected as the number one pick for the past 3 years and drawn comparisons to lebron James could possibly be underrated. There are a few more skeptics out there now than there were at the beginning of the season though and not without good cause. There are more holes in his game and concerns about his character than a lot of people initially thought. Still has the potential to be a tremendous NBA player though. Hes just not as much of a can’t miss prospect as he viewed as at one point.

Teams like Duke & Kentucky have committed to this Model………. & as a result they bring in Multiple "possible" "One & Done" players…….

Some move on to the NBA & some stay but it’s a whole culture where it’s accepted…….. & Both the Kids & the Team are able to flourish………..

Simmons was just one man at LSU…….. They had some other decent recruits…….. but Even Michael Jordan needed help to win in College……..

As soon as people realized that Simmons was Not a "One Man Savior"……… B/C No One is……. Many people turned Hostile on him……… They knew he was leaving after one year & so the Haters came out of the Wood-work…………

I would Not have wanted to go to Class either after awhile……. Simmons is going to be an Absolute Stud at the NBA Level…….. Whoever gets that #1 pick…….

He might be the ONLY All Star out of this class.

More upside than anybody.  Even his downside would be pretty good.  I would say your standard issue Lamar Odom would be his base — or possibly even his floor.

I would think that Brandon Ingram, Buddy Hield, and Thon Maker could be All Stars one day, but who knows.

Now, you can’t have 4 other non-shooters on the floor with him.  Duh.  So, get a stretch four next to him and you are good.

Should have tons of potential at the 3, even the 4.

But, with all the great forwards now — LeBron, Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Anthony Davis, Paul George, Blake Griffin, etc., I wouldn’t be surprised if Ben Simmons breaks the record for most All NBA Third Teams.

Same thing happened to Wiggins. Media backlash after not living up to "the next Lebron" hype.

His offensive game does scare me tho

    I’m on the hype train.

If he doesnt get a reliable shot….perennial All-Star

    If he does…3xMVP
