I think Ben Simmons is Going to do everything in his power to avoid being drafted by the 76ers. He does have a bit of a cocky swagger, he obviously wants to be a big time star with a lucrative shoe deal and he’s not some nice kid like Kevin Durant ( no offense) I like his attitude It’s reminds me of Kobe(was traded to la) ..I don’t thinks he’s as competitive though..What should the 76sixers do if Simmons  shows no desire to play for Philly? which I think is in character

I think he will be stoked to play for Brett Brown.  Also he wants to be the first pick.  Won’t have to change his number either.

Why? I Can See Brett Brown out of the picture before 2018 if not before that..this organization is a mess

If this was really the case, he and his agent would’ve already come out and made it known he doesn’t want to be in Philly. I’m sure he’d prefer to be in LA, but I’m sure he’s ok with being in Philly considering his expierence with Sixers’ coach Brett Brown. I mean he did choose LSU (this isn’t football) over other big programs, so it’s not like he’s exactly the type of guy to only go for big programs or locations and Philly isn’t some ho hum small city.

But yea go ahead and just recklessly speculate about someone and their attitude and personality you’ve never met before, and run off with some weightless rumor about him demanding to go to LA that someone made up because LA is cool. I remember last year, there were was so much chatter about would you rather not be #1 pick by Minnesota and have LA draft you. I get it, LA is great place to be and I’d prefer to play there too over just about anywhere else, but yea let’s just speculate for no reason. In fact, I’ll say Dragen Bender will refuse to go to Boston because the city doesn’t have a very big European culture and he will demand to play in Toronto….yea!

All I said was he’s cocky which is obvious..wants a lucrative shoe deal (can be maximized in la) and I wouldn’t be surprised if philly were leaning toward Ingram due to Simmonswanting to play for La ….whichbus what this post is trying to adress IS IT IN HIS CHARACTER TO TRY TONPUSH HIMSELF TO LA?

Isnt a higher up in the Philly Organization a family friend? And Ben Simmons showed his loyalty to his family by playing at LSU since his godfather worked for them

I think people overhype the Brown Simmons relationship an awful lot. I remember when his dad played under Brown in the 90s. Ben would have been so small he would hardly remember, and Brown has lived in the US ever since.

I do like Brown a lot, but youd never convince me that Simmons would rather Philly over LA just because of him.

Its not like his Godfather at LSU..who was actually more like a brother growing up.

One good thing about Brown is that hes probably the only coach in the NBA that would let Simmons play in the Olympics,a s hes a former Aussie National Team coaching legend.

I think everyone would like to see Simmons cut his teeth against Team USA in Rio instead of summer league.

Already said he probably wont play, but could be a gamechanger having his coaches blessing.

Those Summer League games are rough anyways.

of Brandon Ingram if he stayed at Duke……….. just like D’Angelo Russell was Never Steph Curry……. Ingram is No Where near Kevin Durant……

Ingram is a 43% shooter (35% from 3 pt range)…… and he has None of the Explosion KD has……… Ingram muscles his way to the Rim against college kids & he still Only avg 17 a game……….

He does Not have that explosive 1st step needed in the NBA……. NBA defenders will Easily stay w/ Ingram & he doesn’t have the quickness OR the strength to get to the rim at the next level…….. & he can Not create his own shot……

this is a One person Draft – it’s Ben Simmons All day – Every day……..& everyone else is just a guy…….. the media does this Every year to create web traffic & ratings………. It’s manufactured controversy……Last year it was nonsense that Russell was a "can’t miss" prospect…. Well he was a Big miss……

the 2017 Draft will be a Monster Draft……. I’d rather have lost that pick to the Sixers This year b/c losing it Next year will Kill the Lakers….

Phila could walk away w/ Markelle Fultz & Jason Tatum next June & they’ll look like a Juggernaut in the 2020’s……… the Lakers could Offer their Entire Roster & I would Not even give them Okafor……. Forget about Simmons……..

There is no way that Tatum is a better prospect than Ingram.  No where near the length or the passing ability or the shooter Ingram is or was at Tatums age.  All he does is score in isolation.  They are probably similar athletes.

Ingram was young enough to still be in HS, and still was the 2nd leading scorer for a a powerhouse program. Hes a legit 6’10 with guard handles and a pure jumpshot. Saying "he doesn’t have the explosive 1st step needed in the NBA" is ridiculous. The kid is clearly nowhere close to being full developed and hasn’t come close to growing into his body either. The fact that a kid with that much length and size can shoot the ball that well and with as good a form as he has at that age is extremely impressive. There isn’t a single chance in hell Tatum would have started over Ingram. I’m not convinced Tatum is a better athlete than Ingram and he certainly isn’t as good of a shooter. And only averaged 17 a game? Kid was an 18 year old freshman for Christ sake.

Simmons has legitimate concerns surrounding him so I don’t it’s manufactured controversy. He couldn’t even get over a 2.0 GPA as a star basketball player at LSU. That’s embarrassing. How can your teammates view you as a leader when you are lazy in the classroom and coast on the court? Simmons will definitely go #1 in this draft, but I like Ingram a lot more in the future.

If I’m Philly, I’m drafting Ingram because I personally like him more.

If you have Simmons evaluated as the better player, you take him. You don’t let a 19-year old dictate where he’s getting drafted. That’s how you end up drafting Johnny Flynn instead of Steph Curry.

Simmons will go to whatever team drafts him. That’s how this works . Players don’t get to choose who drafts them. If he doesn’t like it he can go play in Europe. But I highly doubt he will. All this stuff is just pure speculation and nothing more. Simmons has given no actual indication he won’t play for philly.

I’m drafting Simmons because tanking finally worked and he has the highest ceiling in this draft class. We didn’t go 10-72 this year to take the "safe" pick in Ingram.

I know that LA is LA, but what is wrong with Philly as a market, and team with a great tradition?

This is the organization of Doc, Moses, Wilt, Barkley, and Iverson. It is one of the biggest cities in the country too.

Add in the prestige of going first, and the relationship with Brown, and the potential for playing with a dominant center in Embiid, and you have a very attractive spot.

I dislike Ben Simmons personally I think has bad character. The fact that he didn’t take school seriously at LSU and got suspended for insufficient grades tells you what punk he is. You have tutors and freshman classes are extremely basic take pride in what you do kid. Then he and his reps want him to be drafted by LA for bigger shoe deal. He seems like a "me guy" and only cares about his marketability. Also I don’t think he wants to get better he just wants to continue to work on things that he already does ok at. I like Brandon Ingram over him I think he’s the better overall prospect for starters he has a friggin jumpshot. Ben Simmons for the games I saw can’t shoot. All I hear is he’s a great passer um ok but does that really warrant the numero uno pick. I think he’s a poor leader your suppose to be the number 1 pick and you can’t get your team to the tourney? I wouldn’t even take him top 5 he needs a reality check maybe if people pass on him and he slides to number 7 he would appreciate the game more. Sorry for the hating but he hasn’t even paid his dues and he’s already obnoxious calling shots.

If Simmons is going to turn into Steve Francis to avoid the 76ers, I don’t think it will work.  If his people can convince the Lakers to make a big trade to move up a spot, there is a chance.

Lakers are a traditional powerhouse team but Philly are no mino either. If there were any issues I’m sure Brett Brown and Jerry Coangelo would be speaking to Simmons and his agents to try and smooth things over. I know Jerry is only an advisor as such but he probably has as much respect and the best contacts of anyone in basketball so he could be very useful to smooth things over.

Don’t forget that the 76ers will surely work out both Ingram and Simnmons and I’d assume that both guys would have to work out for the Lakers too. Other sites even have Ingram no 1 and whilst I personally agree with this site and a majority of posters on here that Simmons will go no 1, don’t count out Ingram entirely.

Mere fact that it was out there suggest they wanted him to. Unless news would have never broke. Now after it started getting a little buzz they did the proper thing and said they don’t mind him in philly. It’s ok LA is were I would want to go too you’re just not suppose to say it out loud. Besides philly take Ingram let that premadonna go to LA and and have the pressure of not being the next Kobe.

Simmons will get paid regardless I think if the agent is smart he will try get him to the team that will use him the best longterm to show case his skills and get you longterm money rather than short term gains..

What both teams are offering have going on:

    Philly:

Biggest initial NBA contract(incase you aren’t successfull-see anthony bennet)

Most likely to let you be a point forward and let you work on your shot..

Most likely to let you work through struggles..

Has possibly worked with head coach(breeds familarity)

    A lot of bigs………

Possibly a less saturated market nba player wise meaning more marketing chances…

    Lakers:

Smaller intial contract(incase not successfull-see anthony bennet)

Players you have played with -D angelo Russell at high school

Bigger market for marketability(making you more visable for branding)-but also a more flooded market

Walton may use you like Draymond greene(point forward)

    Not many bigs

However the question is does simmons want to be Franchise player or the 2nd/3rd option on a team that is the question he needs to ask himself…As that will be the team he will try end up at
