balltilifall5ParticipantIncluded somewhere in the definition of the word beast, you should find the two words Damion James. The kid is a straight up monster. At 6’7, he is second in the big 12 only to Cole Aldrich in rebounding. On offense he plays on the wing a lot of the time, but isn’t afraid to bang down low and mix it up. He has posted games of 13 (3x), 14(2x), 15(2x), 16, and 19 boards….with NBA 2-guard size. When he gets to the league, he will play the 3, which will not be a hard transition considering he can already handle well enough to attack from the wing, finish above the rim with superb athleticism, and stroke a 3 at will. I think that DJ will be a 18 and 9 guy in the league. His game reminds me a lot of James Posey coming out of college (check it out if you doubt it)…..who does he compare to in your mind?

armanagree with you,he is just like posey when he came to league.. only thing is i dont htink he would have 9 boards cause sf arent that dominant in nba like in college… you have much bigger and stronger pf and c…and i think he can be around 20 ppg in nba

Henry25Participantlets not get ahead of ourselves. I’m a big James fan, but I don’t think he will be a 20ppg scorer. Remember how much of a beast Mike Beasley was at rebounding at K-State??? Has that translated to the league?? Not so much. I like James a lot and think he will be a very good 3rd option in the NBA. Something like 17ppg, 7-8rpg, and 3assts. He isn’t that great at creating offense for himself, although he has shown tremendous improvement over his college career

arman17,18,19 TO ME IS ALL AROUND 20 PPG…. I DIDNT SAY HE IS SURELY 20 PPG IN NBA

HueBoND 2001ParticipantThis guy is a good role player and will never be a 18 and 9 guy unless all five starters and the 6th man are injureed but he will be a solid player. They dont compare skill wise but think of Luc Mac Boute or even Julian wright. These guys just dont translate, as a matter fact Renaldo Balkman was more of a beast, but right now he is beasting the nuggets bench…

JNixonParticipantDamion James is like a Gerald Wallace. The improvements he’s made with his perimeter game have made him a prospect worthy of a late lotto selection. He’s a good rebounder, a great athlete, and he now has a nice jumper and good ball-handling ability. Not to mention how tough a defender he is.

tli232Guys like Damion James just don’t translate that well to the NBA game. Sure, I think he’ll be able to be a “glue” guy on a good team, but not the 18 and 8 guy people are projecting. How many great rebounding 6’7″ 6’8″ Small forwards have there been in college? DJ isn’t the first. Think about it, how many of those guys average over 7 boards in the NBA? Actually, how many wing players in the NBA overall average over 7 boards a game?
Exactly. The wing rebounding numbers by DJ are somewhat a product of collegiate boxing out technique (lack thereof), and the fact that he sometimes bangs with the bigs (getting better rebounding position).

balltilifall5ParticipantHue Bond, are you kidding? Do you watch basketball? James in nothing like Luc or Balkman, both of whom revolve their game around hustle and d. Im going to discount your statement as sheer stupidity, I like the Gerald Wallace comparison, however i think too many people draw comparisons to Wallace ( A testament to his versatility)
