valentinefrom what i’ve seen, i’d say between 50-60% of the mocks i’ve seen here have davis, mkg, dru, t-rob as their top 4, which leaves (as most would say) barnes and beal as the best two players left, note that a lot of mocks have barnes and beal going right after the other at the 5/6, including this site’s mock.
teams around that range need could pick up either. some1 like toronto, with derozan’s flexibility to allow drafting a sg or sf…
who do you like better barnes or beal?

johnallinghamParticipantI would take Beal, appears to dig in and be more engaged in the game. Shooting prowess will probably end up being similar with Beal a better rebounder, team defender and more versatility to his offensive game. They will both end up being plus defenders but I just feel like Beal is a better piece for a team looking to rebuild. Problem is that Derozen is better suited to the 2 guard position and Barnes has great size for the 3, but all in all I would take Beal and then deal with the Derozen dilema after.

apb540ParticipantIt all starts with what your team needs, but I would imagine most teams will take Barnes first due to his size and versatility. I really do believe he can play the 2 when needed on the next level. Beal on the other hand appears to be a straight up SG; he played with so many good ball handlers at Florida that I don’t remember him ever running the point. Kinda tough for a 6-3 player.

johnallinghamParticipantI’d really be upset if Raps slipped to 7th pick because although I would be fine with Sullinger I don’t think the Raps are high on him. I’d be very upset if they picked Lillard and neutral with Perry Jones although he is a total wild card. It looks like the top six is the cream of the crop though. I do think Sullinger will be an effective NBA player though, he was a dominant college player from day one, much more so than other undersized, bulky power forwards. When you think about it probably half of the PF coming in the league have the undersized tag, ie, Love, Griffen

MJBrownParticipantI guarantee that there are some teams that have Brad Beal #2 on their board. He’s going to be a better pro the college player. Dead eye athletic shooter with handles don’t come around every day. Personal opinion I’d take him 3rd before Drummond and Robinson

TyroberParticipantBeal hands down. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see him go as high as 2 or 3. Beal is the Real Deal

chocboywndrParticipantI am sure the negs will come with this opinion. Beal is going to end up being a tweener or a pg unless he bigger than listed height. A backcourt of Calderon and Beal doesn’t work and since Calderon is one Casey fav players. there was just an article about that in Toronto paper yesterday Calderon isn’t going anywhere. Taking Beal will cause match up problems against bigger guards. I am not saying he isn’t a good player but the raptors already have someone in Bayless that is a similar player and had similar expectation coming out of college who wants to stay in T.O anyway.
I am sure Barnes is going to show very well when he goes into team workouts . When he played KD last year in presense of scouts both KD and scouts said he was inquestioned #1 pick in the draft. So I am sure by the time workout cycle is up his stock will have risen. In the end five years from now when we look back at draft I believe Barnes will be the best wing to come out of draft. For Raptors selecting him would be best thing that could happen.
Starters-Calderon, Derozan, Barnes, Barg, Val Bench -Amir, Davis, Bayless, Johnson, Gray(maybe)
If Raptors could I would try to package a trade with Amir or Davis and 55th pick try get back into first round try to grab Wroten in the twenties somewhere.
