OhCanada-ParticipantThe Portland Trail Blazers have signed center Earl Barron for the remainder of the season, it was announced today by General Manager Rich Cho.
Barron, 29, has played parts of five seasons with Miami (2005-08), the New York Knicks (2009-10), Phoenix Suns (2010-11) and Milwaukee Bucks (2010-11), posting career averages of 5.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 15.1 minutes in 108 games (27 starts).

OhCanada-ParticipantWhy does Barron bounce around like this, what the heck is Miami and New York doing sleeping on barron I dont get it. Even my own team the Raps should have picked this guy up when the season began, I would rather have Barron on the team then Amir Johnson, not saying Amir is a bad player thats just praise for Barron. Does anybody understand what keeps him from being a true rotation player.

B FreeParticipantWhen I heard they had worked him and Robert Swift out I was hoping for Swift (Blazers Fan) I know he failed miserably but from what I read about him playing over seas is that he developed a passion and a mean streak, something we could use. He always had potential maybe he gets another chance.

JoeWolf1^ Robert Swift plays on Jeremy Tyler’s Japanese team, he puts up pretty decent numbers, but the competition isn’t great.

B FreeParticipantYea I know where he plays, I’m just saying after I read a few things about how he is doing I thought he should get a chance and I liked how he dedicated himself.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantNobody wants to play Portland in the first round this year. They could shock some people.

Memphis MadnessParticipantBarron can score. Also a decent rebounder. LA/Camby/Barron will give team fits. Batum is a nightmare at 3. Gerald Wallace is a bad ass at the 2/3. Solid back court too. Andre Miller, Wes Mathews, and Brandon Roy are all solid. Rudy Fernandez too. A great mix of players with the dominate (at times) big guy who can score inside and out in LA, an elite shot-blocker defender next to him (Camby), a load at small forward/shooting guard who can do a lot of things and take over games (Gerald Wallace), a savvy, veteran pont guard who can hit some clutch shots (andre miller), a guy off the bench who can do some damage on offense (Brandon Roy), plus some other great role players in Matthews, Rudy Fernandez and Earl Barron.
I think that this year the best TEAM might win, not necessarily the best player. Rose, LeBron, and Howard are the best PLAYERS this year, but I wouldn’t rule out OKC or the Lakers or the Spurs.
If you look through NBA history, sometimes a fluke team has won. Like in the Seventies where the Bullets, Super Sonics, Warriors, and Trail Blazers all won. The NBA may revert to that where the Heat have two superstars plus another top all-star but they don’t really win that much (like the West/Wilt Lakers).

kngojcParticipantI don’t know much about Barron but his story of being bounced around reminds of Rashad Mccants. He wasn’t bounced around much but he was playing for the Wolves and playing well. He was a team captain and was scoring around 15 per game and it was looking to be on the rise and then it was like he just dropped off the face of the planet. No team wanted him after he was traded to the Kings.. I’m glad someone who might be on a "list" of players not to pick up was actually snatched up for his talent and not for his attitude. Portland definitely could surprise the Lakers (if that’s who they play in the first round) this year or at least take them to a seven game series.
