mosdefParticipantfor all my GS fans you guys should know I like 3 players for the 7th pick; Austin Rivers, Royce White and Jared Sullinger
Did anyone check out the Austin Rivers interview at the 1:15 mark. I always thought that Rivers was a Jerry West tye of pplayer

UNCbasketballbumParticipantYou just compared Austin Rivers to Jerry West. Unbelievable.

I May Be WrongParticipantI thought Klay Thompson had the starting 2 guard spot locked up and Brandon Rush was going to back him up. Drafting Austin Rivers will create a log jam. I think the Warriors will draft big if they decide to keep the pick. There are also rumors that the Warriors were looking to move the pick in hopes for a veteran player.

ChewyParticipantBrandon Rush is a restricted free agent, so if they want GS could let him walk. If they were high on Rivers they could keep Rush for one year and let him walk as an UFA. This would give Rivers a relativly pressure free rookie season to develop.
Plus the idea of a Curry/ Klay/ Rivers backcourt rotation could be the best shooting rotation in recent history. 7th overall may be a little high for Rivers, but I always believed that teams should pick on who they like rather than where they are projected. If they want another shooter than Rivers is a good option.
I think GS should focus on their frontcourt. Bogut is a great piece to have but he has a history of injuries. Jermey Tyler is a young exciting prospect who looks like he can make major improvements to his game. However, I think GS is still waiting for Beidrines to be they player they thought he was going to be and it probably won’t happen. They could trade him before he becomes an UFA next summer and give back up minutes to a developing young big like Zeller/Leonard/Sullinger/PJ III
Comparing Rivers to Jerry West is blasphemous…

jhbm24ParticipantAnd I think that’s one of the stupidest picks we could get. If we don’t get Rudy gay for the pick+ then we need to draft a small forward or at worst I guess iggy

mosdefParticipantI didnt compare Rivers to Jerry West. Jerry West is in the GSW front office and Rivers fits the Jerry West type of player he likes

sheltwon3ParticipantGSW do not want another smallish backcourt. Right they have a 6’3" point and a 6’7" shooting guard. They may look to add a small forward with defensive abilities so I don’t see Rivers as being the guy. They have enought guys who score points.

mosdefParticipantI thinkk we got okay scorers with Klay and Curry but they are more shooters. Rivers can isolate and he checked in at 6’5”, so he isnt small. Ive always thought that Curry should be a 6th man anyways cuz his defense is subpar and he makes stupid TOs too. If you keep Curry as a starter, and they will, Rivers can fill the Harden, Manu role.
GS doesnt need bigs. They need good bigs. Im okay with Sullinger and I think he can be good but Rivers has more star power and you win with stars
