akhan786ParticipantMy expectations for Rivers is 14-15 ppg, 3 apg, 2 spg and 35% from the 3 point line.
I think these are reasonable given the fact that he is a freshman coming into a loaded Duke backcourt.
Of course, I would love for him to exceed these expectations but I just feel like many are projecting him to score much more based on his 3 point shot which is WAY overrated.
Austin Rivers is nothing more than a streak shooter but his REAL bread and butter is taking his man off the dribble and going to the hole. The reason why his ppg I think will be lower than most expect, is because I think AR will need an adjustment period to get acclimatized to the physical defense played especially in the ACC. And because he hardly finishes with his left hand, he’ll have trouble against athletic defenders and shot blockers.
I think the thing that is underrated about Rivers’ game is that he CAN run an offense when he is surrounded by talent. When he was switched to PG at the McDonald’s All-American game he was a very willing passer.
I see him spending heavy minutes at the PG spot at Duke because I don’t think Seth Curry is ready yet to handle the primary ball-handing responsibilities.

theTKOshowParticipantthis is a guy whos getting alot of hype because of who he is. Doc rivers’ son, he won some high school player of the year award, going to duke, questions whether hes a pg or sg. alot of opinions on him and everyone is curious about the expectations. i know hes currently slated to go mid 1st round but there was a point where he was considered a top pick and easily still could be if he has an impressive freshman yr at duke.
