i dont think his game is at all like curry’s…curry isn’t nearly as athletic or explosive going to the rim and rivers doesn’t have the court vision or passing of curry

Since I really don’t see him as a PG, I’ll say he’ll play 2 guard. I’ve always seen Eric Gordon out there every time I see him play

I see him playing the 2 in the NBA. At Duke his ball handling will allow him to play both but i just don’t see him running the point full time. He has good height for the 2 as well at basically 6’5 with a 6’8 wingspan.

He’s a score first shooting guard.

If he did play PG I would not want him on my team…lol I’d never get the ball.

Rivers will be an NBA SG, so its hard to say whether he will be a better player than Curry because they will be playing different position, infact I dont even understand why they keep getting compared to one another, they play nothing alike even physically Rivers is already much bigger. He will be below DWade level, perhaps a Monta Ellis with more consistant 3 point shot.

I actually do see a lot of curry in him to be honest at least in how he likes to get his shot.  You are right though he is a much better slasher than curry is and he can get himself to the rim.  I think he ends playing most effectively as a 2 since he’s got a scorer’s mentality but he could run the point at times during the game.

I honestly don’t see why everyone is saying Stephen curry is such a great passer, he’s also a score first point guard, never was a great passer in college except out of the double team. Never was a full time point guard until he got to the NBA and he’s only averaged around 5-6 assists. And I think Austin is a legit 6’4 or 6’5 depending on how tall is dad really is. Doc was listed at 6’4 his whole career and he also played the one and two. But I see Stephen Curry and Austin Rivers similarities, I don’t see the D Wade or the Eric Gordon comparison. Both strong bodied guards who drive to the goal and take contact. 189 pound austin rivers does more Euro Steps and side steps instead of taking contact, ala Rudy Fernandez or Manu Ginobli.  The only similarity he has to the is Driving to the goal.

I think he’ll be a shooting guard in a Kevin Martin mode, mostly a shooter in the league but can slash to the basket.

I think his best case is: D-Wade

Worst Case: Kirk Hinirch (More athletic)

The comparison to Curry just never got updated. When he was a freshman and sophomore it made alot of sense because he really depended on his outside game and displayed alot of the same patience and poise. People also have a tendency to compare based largely on skin tone, as dumb as that is.

He’s really evolved physically from then though and become much more explosive and a better athlete getting in the paint and finishing. At the same time I think his attitude has at times become a problem the last few years, as hes gained a rep as a prima donna. To me those things really kill off the Curry comparison.

The whole package considered, he reminds me of Kobe at the same age with his personality, with his skill set more reminiscent of Gilbert Arenas. NOT TO SAY HE IS GOING TO BE KOBE, but we have to remember Kobe has worked like nobody in the history of the game to become what he is, after struggling his first year. I see Kobe in Rivers because of his confidence out there, his NBA pedigree with his father, his incredible work ethic and the fact that he already appears to be a guy that is difficult to play with and has an attitude every time things don’t go his way. Kobe was very similar in high school. Rivers is not nearly as physically dominant, but Kobe’s work ethic took him up a few notches athletically after he got in the league, and Rivers might honestly be able to do the same. That being said, he’s shorter so he’ll probably never quite reach that level.

I personally think he will be a star because I don’t think he’ll rest until he is one. My question with him is will he be a championship-level guy in the NBA or one who puts up huge numbers in obscurity? I’ve heard he has an insane work ethic, but I don’t know if that means he’ll be like Gilbert Arenas and shoot thousands of shots a day and only be a great offensive player, or like Kobe and train like an olympic athlete, in the process becoming a great defender and eventually mature into a great leader. I still haven’t been able to form a definitive opinion on what I think he’ll become.Time will tell. Whoever picks him up could play a huge role in that.
