Johnny KilroyParticipantFor a guy who’s suppose to be a GREAT shooter, his stas don’t suggest that at all. Actually amazed at how bad a free throw shooter he is.
Does Austin need to correct his shooting form?
For his career, Rivers is:
Soph: 84 for 235 from 3 for 36%; 66% FT
Jr: 82 for 218 from 3 for 38%; 67% FT
Sr: 84 for 248 from 3 for 33.9%; 69% FTOverall, 250 for 701 from 3 for 35.7%. 67.3% FT. Against high schoolers.

SwatLakeCityParticipantShooting in the thirties from 3 is actually normal and expected for guards like him. His free throw shooting is questionable sounds like from that stats that you provided. But he won’t come out till 2012 so he has a lot of time to improve on that. I expect him to mainly pass though. To me he is 6’4 version of Chris Paul.

4th dimensionWell he has shot a ton of 3pters, 701 in a span of 3 season is a ton, and they play less than half of a NBA season. That could be why his shooting % is low. You shoot alot, your going to miss alot also.

akhan786ParticipantI feel like an accurate comparison for him is Dwayne Wade except subsituting Wade’s athleticism and shooting for a more Rudy Fernandez type of player. Rivers has the offensive skills and driving ability of Wade but isn’t as athletic and makes it up with his unlimited range.

OhCanada-ParticipantIve used this comparison before, he is like Nick Young with a great understanding of the game, meaning he will take batter shots and make smarter plays. Also Young doesnt truely know how to use his athletisism, he settles for shots, and doesnt drive, that is not the case with Rivers.
Something about Rivers just reminds me of a young Kobe Bryant as well. Sometimes I have wet dreams thinking what if the Raptors can get Kyrie Irving this year, and Austin Rivers next year…

akhan786ParticipantLol that would be the best young backcourt in the NBA ^^^ rivaling even Golden States’ backcourt because Rivers and Irving have set positions.
