WindyCity23Participanti don’t think it’s a good decision. I remember those George Gervin comparisons prior to the start of the season, and he has the potential to maybe reach it one day. However, he just doesn’t have the strength or athletic ability to contribute to the NBA any time soon. What do you think?

the barronParticipantHe just isn’t ready for the league. We all know he is physically weak and gets pushed around but look at a guy like Tayshaun Prince who can succeed in the league with a similar body. But Prince was a great player at Kentucky and had sufficient basketball skills to play in the NBA. Austin Daye was maybe the fourth or fifth option this past year at Gonzaga and would sometimes dissappear in key moments. He has a long ways to go before he does any damage in the NBA.

WildDudeParticipantNdudi Ebi seems like a better comparison… neither were 200 pounds and both nearly 7 feet, you can bet that the T’wolves will NOT pick Daye because of that alone. The sad thing though is that he was on the same level as Ndudi Ebi was straight outta high school. I’m rooting for the kid but there is no chance that he will be successful in the NBA- at least not for a few years

Meditated StatesParticipantHe also is a better run jump athelete than day. I saw Prince as a freshmen and knew he was a NBA player. I do not feel that way about Daye. He needs a lot of work, cuz all I see is a spot up shooter right now with length. Prince played point for short stretches at UK, Daye does not have those skills or athletic attributes.

sheltwon3ParticipantHe may wind up being serviceable i mean look at Adam Morrison and he went high i a pretty decent draft. Daye should be alright once he gains muscle mass.

j1232eParticipantSays he is promissed a lottery selection. Even if he is a lottery pick I don’t think it was a good decision.

bujubantonParticipantAustin is just one of those players that he’s either going to be real good, or just become another tall nobody who plays basketball. He’s going to have a ten-year career here or overseas. His body is horrible his athleticism non-existent, he should have gone back to school but how much bigger or stronger would he have got with another year at Gonzaga, their not known for their strength program. I think NBA trainers can give him the strength to succeed in 3 years. Austin Daye is project, anybody who picks him thinking he comes in to help your team is foolish, but if someone picks him based on potential and what he might become then go for it. He’s a pick that will either make you look like Kevin Pritchard (Portland) or Isaiah Thomas ( now FIU basketball coach).

scoutguruParticipantAt his level of skill and athleticism, he’s a version of the current Tim Thomas. Not the younger athletic version, the CURRENT one. Someone who is content shooting threes, grabbing no rebounds at 6’10 and looking disinterested on defense. What I find crazy is how non-fluid he is as an athlete. He’s not necessarily quick for his height to get by defenders, and surely can’t muscle his way through. A lot of upside, I think he should of came back, but then again, who are we, just a bunch of nobodies. All I want is players to come in the league NBA ready, and ready to immediately contribute. Is that asking too much as a fan!

WälseParticipantthis guy is garbage at the NBA level. i recently saw a post that asks “who’s the worst player in the NBA?” well, in a couple weeks it will be Austin Daye. what strength program can make this guy an impact player? whoever drafts him needs to send him directly to BALCO so they can concoct some new version of HGH much more powerful than what they gave Marion Jones, Barry Bonds, and Tim Montgomery etc…he needs a box full of syringes, a miracle, the cream, and the clear….

butidonthavemoneyI think Daye is more athletic than his combine numbers state. Monta Ellis tested out as the worst athlete in his class (Atleast one of the worst), and Daye said he was injured during the testing.
He isn’t strong or explosive but I think the rest of you look at his numbers and take it as proof he is a terrible athlete.
But I don’t like him either, he is soft and weak.

Wizards034ParticipantWill be one of the top 5 to 8 best players in this draft and he reminds of Rashard lewis thats the kind of player he will be.

Nico4nicolasParticipantA good comparison could be Alexis Ajinca from Bobcats, both players are tall, skinny, athletic and talented. Ajinca did so many fouls that he could stay on the court, anyway, he was overpowered by every single player. Both players have talent but to be able to play inside in NBA, they need to give themselves time.
I think Austin Daye will go to NBDL after a short while except if the team which will draft him really need a player to play 10 or 15 minutes per game.
