Does anyone find it weird that Austin Daye from Gonzaga is not included in the first 2 rounds of the 2009 Mock Draft???

He should go back to school he did not have a great year this year and with another year of school he could grow and become a better player.

You think he could get that much better at Gonzaga? its not like he is paying in the ACC or Pac-10. Also, you think his inexperience leaves him out of the entire draft???

I think he is a developmental player, but if say Portland picks him up I think he fits very well in that system, and he can sit back for a year or 2, develop and learn. He could gain 20lbs easy in a year…

agreed, but i don’t think hes the type that would lead a team, especially in your playing with Broy and LA.

I think he should go back to school and prove he can lead a team. He needs to gain some weight. However if he stays in the draft he will be a first round pick just based on potential. He should go mid first round.

And we’ve both miserably responded to all of them iguodala9. He’s a late lottery to late first pick in this weak draft. He won’t live up to the hype, but his potential is what get’s him drafted.

I think he will either be very good, or a bust. I do not think there is any middle ground with him. if he puts in the work, and gains some weight, I think he will be a tough match-up

after his combine testing (he tested worst in basically EVERY drill) he needs to go back to school. you can now say he is not an average but a terrible athlete by NBA standards. he has a great skill set tho. he honestly just needs to go straight to europe and dominate in a game more suited to him.

Their was just a forum about this, and almost everyone agreed he needs to go back. I find it interesting that nba draft express has him as the 15th pick, and most draft has him undrafted. He really needs to go back, but he does have a jump shot.

idk, its hard to pass up a 7-2 SF that can shoot the 3. Alot of potential…..everyone is concerned about his weight, but I don’t seeing it being much of a factor. Everyone bulks up once they get in the NBA.

Everyone hates this man now because he’s Skinny

People learn from Prince ( who fell to like 27th) so what he is skinny, the man could play….you let him work as a SF and a PF and he will be good

Unless…..You want him to fall to 29 and help the Lakers or 30 and help the Cavs…

i am praying he drops to Portland. I don’t think Portland is looking for a starter at any position other than PG. But, I don’t think they can move up that far to make it worth it. He could sit behind LA and learn for a year or 2.

he was the worst athlete invited…luke harangody blew him out of the water on everything

    harangody: 27″ no step vert / 31″ max vert / 11-5 max touch height / 23 bench reps / 11.5sec lane agility test / 3.33sec 3/4 court sprint

    daye: 25″ no step vert / 28″ max vert / 11-6 max touch height / 0 bench reps / 12.11sec lane agility / 3.55 sec 3/4 court sprint

daye: 2nd worst vert / worst bench / 2nd worst lane agility / worst 3/4 court sprint

aka head back to school and try again next year

he dosent need to get better skill wise… he needs a couple 10 pound bags of protein powder and a crazy coach to lock his ass in the weight room for weeks at a time.

is a small forward. i mean he is slow as hell, not very athletic, and isnt exactly known for his defense. at best i can see him as a garbage version of dirk.

i weight 150 pounds and i could bench 185 pounds at least one time hahah

Daye should go back to school. He really hasn’t shown much in college so how is he gonna make it in the nba. I understand his potential because of his height and shooting ability but….I think he could get better playing against St. Marys and Loyola because he hasn’t shown he can take over those game yet. The thing is skinny people are generally more agile but Daye is just clumsy.

I don’t even wanna hear the Durant comparisons. Durant dominated in college. Durant is better at every aspect of the game. Daye can’t even dominate against Loyola Marymont hahah
