knicksfreakParticipantGot this from espn insider
The Bobcats are one the hottest teams in the NBA right now, having won nine of 10 in January, and look primed to make their first playoff appearance in franchise history.
But according to ESPN’s Chad Ford right now, they’re not content to keep riding out the season with their current roster, and may be looking to add a veteran presence in exchange for second-year point guard D.J. Augustin.
So might the Knicks be a fit? Augustin has been a bit of a disappointment in his second season, but Mike D’Antoni is still craving a point guard to run his system.
In exchange, the Knicks could send back veteran Jared Jeffries, a contract they are currently trying to get off their hands.
The Bobcats would need to send something else in exchange, perhaps Acie Law’s expiring deal along with Gerald Henderson’s small contract, though that would leave the Bobcats thin at the point guard position. The Knicks aren’t looking to take on anymore salary, but with Law’s expiring deal, they’d at least be shedding some.
Not ideal for either side, but something that could potentially work.

sheltwon3ParticipantI would love for Knicks to get Ausgustine but i doubt this happens. Too many variables and also while DJ is not playing as good, he is still young and is someone Larry Brown wanted. Also Felton is going to be a free agent next year.

knicksfreakParticipantI like this trade alot because we would be getting Charlotte’s last 2 first round picks back for Jeffries. We would still be shedding some salary for this summer and we would actually have some players on the roster for next year. This move reminds me of something Presti would do which is a good thing.
Players left after 2010 if this trade was done:
Chandler
Curry
Gallinari
Douglas
Hill
Henderson
AugustinThats alot of young talent and Augustin and Henderson would give us a young true PG and a young true SG.

JNixonParticipantI hope that the Knicks don’t think they have a starter in Augustin…He’s a nice 2nd string PG at his best. He’s a true PG with good quickness and shooting ability, but he’s not a great defender at hasn’t done anything very well this season (i.e. why he’s on the trade block). I don’t think they would’ve done anything to solidify the PG spot him in the lineup. Duhon is a true 2nd stringer too, and the jury is out on Toney Douglas (I don’t like him as a future starter either personally).

Clyde-Glide10So the deal would be like
Jeffries and 3 mil for Augustine, Law and Henderson?
I would love that. I don’t think Henderson would be a bad fit either. Mikey D would probably want him as the main defender.

Clyde-Glide10Not to mention….Augustine kinda plays better without a star.
He got better without Durant at Texas. I think he could learn the O from Duhon and then take over fully in 2010

gatorheelsParticipantLet me get this straight:
Bobcats get: Jared Jeffries
Knicks gets: DJ Augustin, Acie Law, Gerald Henderson
Is this a joke…haha
Bobcats would be getting robbed. The trade isn’t even close to being fair. Knicks are getting way too much value.
No way Charlotte does this.

knicksfreakParticipantgatorheels- haha it does seem a little one sided but the Bobcats make strange deals sometimes.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/21/2010 - 11:42am #249341

TRC1991Participantthe bobcats should try and get al harrington in the deal…boris diaw isnt cutting it
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/21/2010 - 11:48am #249343

knicksfreakParticipantWe may have to throw Douglas into the deal to sweeten the pot and give Charlotte a backup guard with defensive skills.

NorthernLights666Participantknicksfreak,
Why wouldn’t you like it? You give up a complete buster that has another year remaining on his contract after this season for a Top Ten Pick two years ago, what’s not to like about that for the Knicks. That trade will never happen, Larry Brown is not that big on a idiot. Believe it or not, Augustin still has a lot of value, look at how many PGs are projected to go in the 1st round of this year’s draft, 1. They can get much more value back for him, how about Augustin and Boris Diaw to Indiana for Troy Murphy? Face it Knicks fans, Jeffries and Curry are going nowhere, and no superstar will come to NY for years.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/21/2010 - 12:02pm #249346

knicksfreakParticipantJeffries has played great D and is one of the main reasons for the Knicks turnaround from a dismal start to the season. The Bobcats would be getting 2 great defenders in Jeffries and Douglas and wouldnt be missing much that has contributed to their success thus far this season. I obviously think the Knicks are making out in this deal but I can see why the Bobcats would do it.
666- you’re a hater. nobody even mentioned anything about a superstar coming to NY but you had to make a dumb shot at Knicks fans.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/21/2010 - 12:13pm #249348

knicksfreakParticipantAre you retarded? I posted something I found on espn. You act like I just made up this fanciful trade. Anyways…I’m not counting on signing Wade or Lebron but you have to be stupid to completely rule out either coming to NY. If we dont happen to sign either player then there is a good chance we could end up with another very good player in 2010 or a star in 2011. Just because you dont “think” that anybody will come to NY doesnt make that a guarantee. Get your head out of your ass and open your mind to things other than just what you’d like to see happen.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/21/2010 - 12:13pm #249347

NorthernLights666ParticipantYou guys have this big plan to turn your team around and it’s all built out of false hope, it’s just comical. At $6.5M per season as a defensive specialist? Yeah, definite meaning of a buster. If Larry Brown did that he would make MJ’s moves look brilliant. You’re not getting rid of Jeffries or Curry this season, face it, and get over your false hopes of anybody even contemplating coming to NY, who would they play with next year, the Rooster, Chandler, Curry, and Jeffries? Good luck with that one!!!! I take dumb shots at people who make dumb comments and think they have validity. Be honest, you think this is a good trade for the Bobcats because your a Knicks fan and therefore bias, I’m sure you thought long and hard before you made that comment.

NorthernLights666ParticipantESPN – the ultimate hype machine, I’m sure they’re happy seeing you buying into their BS, do you believe everything you read on the Internet? From your obvious naivety I’m sure you’re a kid.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/21/2010 - 12:19pm #249352

knicksfreakParticipantESPN is news chump. I’m just passing it along to other people that might be interested in reading it. Self-richeous know it all’s like you dont have to read it or believe it. I’m 21 and I think its funny that you talk so much smack because your probably a 17 year old kid sitting at a computer in your grandma’s basement. I remember a time when I thought I knew it all too.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/21/2010 - 12:20pm #249350

NorthernLights666Participant“Get your head out of your ass and open your mind to things other than just what you’d like to see happen.”
You may want to take some of your own advice, because that’s exactly what you’re doing thinking the BobKitties would be giving up Augustin for Jeffries, who’s according to you is a defensive specialist that has not only this year, but next year as well making over $6M per, that’s realistic though right? Wrong, sorry, but it’s time to take your head out of your ass. I’m just being real, the Knicks having nothing going for them, they’ll have the worst assembled roster in NBA history next year, D’Antoni will quit after next season, and you guys will be perilous to seeing any kind of success for years. Enjoy!!
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/21/2010 - 12:21pm #249353

knicksfreakParticipantI never said it would happen or that it was close to happening. I read an article and started to think about the possibilities surrounding it.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/21/2010 - 12:22pm #249354

knicksfreakParticipantOh and keep negating my points like the chump that you are because it makes you feel big. Somebody’s real cool
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/21/2010 - 12:24pm #249355

NorthernLights666ParticipantESPN is a hype machine, you know that, I know that, everybody knows that, someone spreads a rumor, and they go with it, I’m talking smack because you have high hopes without any sound logic backing them up, I’m just trying to save you the disappointment when your team does nothing this season or in the off season, you just don’t have the talent to move to get anything in return and then when you do have cap room, who will want to go to a roster that has nothing established in terms of a team, even if they were to get a Wade or LeBron how long would it take them to form chemistry with basically an entirely new team? The Knicks next year will basically be an expansion team. It’s fantasy land my friend and the quicker you get that through your stubborn, thick skull the better you’ll feel, what’s funny is that Nets will see success before you ever will.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/21/2010 - 12:29pm #249357

NorthernLights666ParticipantI negate your points because you make arguments without any backing, you’re opinions are weak my friend, just plain weak, plus you’re completely naive, I can’t believe you read rumors on ESPN and actually think it’s true, they’re a media outlet dude!!! They make dramatic accusations to get people on their site, that’s what the media does, DRAMA, come on dude, don’t make yourself look like any more of a fool than what you’ve already accomplished. You’re naivety is just plain bad. Just don’t believe everything you read, that’s all I got to say.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/21/2010 - 12:29pm #249358

knicksfreakParticipantNobody ever said it was factual. As a fan it’s nice to seee things about your team and share it with other fans. Does it seem very likely to happen?….no. Is it remotely possible?… yes.
If the Knicks are completely horrible next year then so be it. That could even be good. maybe we can actually get a top 5 pick for once.
You act like you’ve never seen a bad trade before.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/21/2010 - 12:32pm #249359

knicksfreakParticipantTheres no need for you to be a killjoy. Yes I know that the deal wasnt likely but it is interesting to look in to.
I guess theres a reason you’re negative 5. Maybe it has something to do with your pointless hating or rants.

Clyde-Glide10Diablo666 is a wackadoo.
This is a good trade on both parts tho

dmo21Participanthow about augustin, law, and graham (all expiring contracts) for jared jeffries
0 - Posted on: Thu, 01/21/2010 - 1:09pm #249380

sheltwon3ParticipantKnickfreak, one of my homie is a die hard knicks fan and He could not see this deal happening sorry. Also why would the Bobcats do this when they are actually playing well and exceeding expectations. Jeffries is not the answer. Brown wants Prince. I could see Bobcats dealing Diaw or Muhammed for Curry but that is about it. Knicks would not do this deal though. Curry played great for Brown and Larry Brown likes to have a post player so he can slow the game down. He is not fond of Muhummed and Chandler stays hurt. Mike D likes Diaw but not with his contract now.
