BlazermannParticipantok now that i have your attention i was just wondering about how big sum of the sum of the "SMALL FOWARDS" have gotten.. perry jones for one i think if he does pands out he will be one of the largest small fowards ever.. he’s a young guy and already 6’11 and 230 .. so as he get older he will bulk up even more and end up like at 255 or 260 ..he’s quick and fast long , and ok ball handler for his size and also great passer as well..im just wondering what could he turn out to be!! im thinking if he does put it together he’ll a GIANT mismatch problem and there are even more giant small fowards out there kevin durant for one!! i was just wondering? havent been one in a while… i love this site

butidonthavemoneyI love you too.
Think John Henson, Jan Vesely. There certainly are some very big small forward prospects, but I think that Jones will be better utilized as a mobile power forward.

Im Your FatherParticipantThe 3 has gotten to be a much bigger position for sure. I think possibly Jones will end up being a 4 in the NBA though. Also, it seems like Durant’s height is getting blown out of proportion. The guy measured at 6’10 in shoes, and the announcers for the World Championships kept talking about how he’s a 7 footer. I guess it doesn’t really matter all that much, seeing as he’s just a straight up baller, but why do people feel the need to exaggerate his height like that?

leftyballer24Participantthe announcers were gassin him up… KD doesn’t even exxagerate his height, he says hes 6’9 and is listed at 6’9 when he can easily pass for 6’10 or 6’11.. hes one of the few who use their barefoot height…if i was him i would put 7ft all day

Im Your FatherParticipantOh I know KD doesn’t exaggerate his height. But the Announcers were being ridiculous. Durant is 7′ that’s all well and good, but then Lebron is 6’10, Rudy Gay is 6’11, etc.

sheltwon3ParticipantI think in shoes he is probably 6’11". Dude was measure at 6’9" barefooted before the draft and this was I think before he turned 19. If he grew half and inch and you add that to most shoes give you 1 inch and a quarter. That is 6’10’ .75 or rounded up 6’11" I doubt he is higher than that.

sheltwon3ParticipantKG at one point was a small forward and I think Randolph at time has played at the small forward because he is too small to guard a lot of bigs.

BlazermannParticipantif he can hold his man at the three i see no problem playing there.. i think he should work on his rebounding and post game and mid range .. only becuase of his size advantage will make him able to shoot over people … i would love for him to have dirks skill set lol he would be unguardable

Da1potParticipantOthers: Donte Green, Andrei Kirilenko, Peja Stojakovic, Rashard Lewis, Lamar Odom, Josh Smith, Tayshaun Prince, Hedo Turkoglu,
These guys are all big for small forwards and at least 6’9 plus. Lewis, Odom and Smith are all small forwards- they just play out of position.

HitsterParticipantDirk and KG had an SF skillset at their peak along with being Franchise Level PF’s. Rasheed Wallace maintained his 3 point range even when he played PF or C in later years. Also guys like say Channing Frye could probably play some SF if required and in D’Antoni style like ups you had SF’s like Diaw and Jeffries playing C on numerous occasions.
LeBron from day one had the bulk to play PF and maybe when he gets into his 30’s he’ll switch over and play PF to help prolong his career as he might lose a bit of speed as his career draws towards a close. Imagine his point ability at PF for mismatch potential.

JoeWolf1Yeah, a lot of you guys pointed this out, but when he gets older, bigger and loses some speed he’ll probably just adapt to being a face up power forward. Perry may start out as a SF, but if he does in fact bulk up to 255-260 he’ll just be moved to the PF like Garnett did.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantBron is 6’9"
KD is 6’10"
Perry Jones is 6’11" but he is still 19, he has a good 2 years of growing and by the time he gets to the L, he can easily be 7ft

JNixonParticipantKevin Jones would play PF in the NBA. He’s like a Taj Gibson type. That is if you’re talking about the one from WVU.

The lake show2Guess this forum will do. Was looking for the other one where a couple of people were arguing about Henson being a SF. He is not a Sf and shows zero SF skills( said it back then as well) I haven’t seen Vessely but I’ve read he’s a PF and Perry Jones has proven he has a ways to go before he’s considered a SF.
With that said Henson has proven to be better than i thought he would be, and Jones has proven to be as underwhelming as i thought he would be
