JNixonParticipantBoston College:
Reggie Jackson- Long armed and athletic 6’3 combo guard..Can get to the rim very well and is an impressive finisher in transition…Needs to improve his jumper and show better PG skills, but he’s an interesting sleeper prospect.
Clemson:
Milton Jennings- He’s extremely raw right now, but he’s athletic and very long at 6’9…Combo forward who’s better the closer to the rim and the less he has to create…High defensive potential, and showed it last year…He lacks polish, but he has long-term upside…2012 or 2013 prospect
Duke:
Kiyle Singler- A 6’9 combo forward with good (and streaky) shooting ability and the size to get his shot off whenever at the college level…Alright wing rebounder and he tries hard…Still, limited by a lack of athleticism, quickness, and less than ideal handles…Going to be a defensive liability in the NBA..Still, likely 1st round pick next year
Nolan Smith- A quick 6’2 combo guard with good athleticism and defensive ability…Developed a strong jump shot spotting up and off the dribble last year…He’s not a great ball-handler for a guy that’ll have to play PG in the NBA..Smart and a leader…Classic overachiever, and will be a late 1st-early 2nd rounder next year…Comparable to Mario Chalmers
Kyrie Irving- This guy has special skills…Good size (6’2 175) with the ability to get bigger..Quick and has big-time handles…Great passing ability…Can score and make plays for others…Decent jumper, but average as a 3-point shooter…Sometimes dribble too much…Still, he should be a top 5 pick in 2011…Plays like a young Chris Paul
Mason Plumlee- Athletic 6’10 PF who can post and shoot…Good passer for a big man…Mismatch potential…Still, needs to add strength and fill his frame out…Has nice potential and could be a 2011 or 2012 1st rounder…Similar to Josh McRoberts
Florida State:
Chris Singleton- Great physical and athletic ability…Physically gifted at SF (6’9 220) and will make plays around the rim…Nice shot….Not nice shot-selection…TERRIBLE handles makes it hard for him to create shots, even in college…His length and size make him a factor off the ball on D, but he’s not great on-ball…Needs to improve handle to improve….A late 1st rounder-early 2nd rounder right now, but could rise if he strides..
Mike Snaer- 6’4 SG is a big time athlete with a high motor and a strong mid-range game from the wing…Strong…Big-time defender and has raw scoring ability…Needs to improve his handle..2012 or 2013 prospect, but has upside.
Georgia Tech:
Iman Shumpert- 6’5 combo guard with long arms…Good handles and slashing ability…Very aggressive…Great defender..Raw ability to make plays for himself and others..Very wild and erratic…Needs to improve shot selection…Not a very good shooter yet…Turnover prone…Still, he’s a big talent…Late 1st-early 2nd rounder prospect in 2011..
Maryland:
Jordan Williams- Big bodied C/PF at 6’10 260…Can use his power and wide frame to seal down low…Has a strong drop step…Unbelievable rebounder…Not athletic or quick…Low post skill level isn’t very high…Low defensive potential…He’s a 2012 or 2013 prospect…20120 Maryland version of Lonny Baxter
Miami:
Durand Scott- Athletic and long-armed 6’3 combo guard…Great slasher and finisher around the rim..Big-time defender with the ability to get even better…Needs to show a better jump shot, and develop his playmaking skills, since he’ll play mostly PG in the NBA…2012 prospect, with nice upside
DeQuan Jones- Freak athlete and good size at SG at 6’6 195…No much else going for him besides that right now…
NC State:
Ryan Harrow- Exciting and flashy 6’0 combo guard…The best handles in the 2010 class…Quickness and athleticism are high-level…Long arms…Excels on the break…Still, he’s a score-first 6’0 player which needs to improve…Jumper is mediocre, especially spotting up…Can pressure the ball, but he’s not a truly good defender…Pretty weak…2012 prospect, has to show he can be a PG….Jeff Teague or Aaron Brooks type
C.J. Leslie- 6’8 combo forward who makes great plays around the rim on both ends…Not skilled, and needs to polish his offensive game…Very energetic and long..Rebounds and is a versatile defender..Shaky motor…2012 1st round prospect
UNC:
Harrison Barnes- Physically gifted 6’8 SG/SF with long arms…Outstanding at nearly every aspect of the game…Deep ball shooting is the only thing that is merely decent…Top 2 pick in 2011, but IMO the best prospect…Kobe Bryant potential? I think so..
Reggie Bullock- 6’6 SG and a good athlete with a beautiful jump shot….Can score in transition or half-court…Ball-handling needs improvement, but he can pull-up off 1 or 2 dribbles…Average defender. Wayne Ellington type…Should be a 1st rounder whenever he declares, has scoring potential
Kendall Marshall- He’s got good size as a 6’4 170 PG…Pure PG..Good playmaking skills and floor vision..Solid handles…Looks much better in half-court than in transition..Not a good shooter…Lacks a bit of athleticism and quickness…Does he fit with UNC’s fast paced style?….2013 prospect I’d say

JNixonParticipantVirginia Tech:
Malcolm Delaney- Quick 6’3 combo guard with a slim and wiry build…Can get to the basket and make plays…Looks good handling the ball..Not a true playmaker for others at all other than basic drive and dish…Mediocre shooter, but shoots a bunch of long range shots as if he’s J.J. Redick…Very wreckless…Ball-dominant and wild, but still fun to watch…Decent defender…2nd round prospect, and plays like C.J. Watson of the Golden State Warriors
also……
John Henson- Very tall and long for a combo forward at 6’10 195… Extremely quick and athletic…Big-time shot-blocker…Can rebound very well..Capable of grabbing a rebound and dribbling the ball up in transition…Still, his handle is a little loose in half-court…Has a raw post and face-up game…Extremely narrow and weak…Lack of strength holds him back a bit, but he’ll be a 1st round pick when he declares more than likely though..Has high potential

TRC1991Participantdont sleep on Devin Booker, Trevor Bookers little bro from Clemson, hes taller and longer than his brother with a decent post-up game and great hops…hes raw but if he puts it all together i think he could be a good prospect
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/18/2010 - 7:59am #356699

JNixonParticipantHe does have some raw talent. Looking for an improvement next year from his with the time that’ll be left over after Booker’s graduation

gregoden08ParticipantCan’t wait to see Barnes. He is the best prospect IMO and has a complete offensive game.
I was thinking of a comparison for Reggie Bullock-Less athletic Jason Richardson?

stanford hoopsActually every where I’ve read and when they talked about him at the mcdonalds game says Reggie bullock is one of the top defenders in his class. Are you’re scouting reports coming from just watching the all star games for the freshmen?

stanford hoopsAnd m Parker as well as peshon Howard are future pro prospects from Maryland
I’m interested in you’re PAC 10 report because I’ve seen alot of the incoming freshmen play a couple games and practice

bullsfan121212seth curry. i dont think he will start should be sixth man of the year but they will play smith at the 3 if the match up is right and he can guard a smaller three.
but seth curry is the real deal and will be a first rounder at some point
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/18/2010 - 10:36am #356772

Doc HoopsParticipantSeth Curry should be getting lots of playing time next season for Duke
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/18/2010 - 10:44am #356776

JNixonParticipantSeth Curry- 6’2 combo guard with a smoothness about his game…Decent quickness to create space to get his shots off…Very good shooter off the bounce or spotting up…Doesn’t seem to be a PG at all..Seems to lack athleticism..

Lotto StudParticipantWhy aren’t you going to do the Pac10 what you don’t know much about that conference????

JNixonParticipantLlperez did the Pac-10 already

stanford hoopsI’m not sure anyone here can do the PAC 10 or any conference accurately as far as freshmen because no one has seen them all play other then a allstar game or a game on espn

knicksfan7ParticipantCan you do it for us Quincey. I am sure a lot of us are interested in reading your scouting reports on Pac10 freshman.

IknoBall12Participantim glad u mentioned him becuz i really like him and hes gonna create headaches for my blue devils this year. i watched him a lil bit last year and he was jus a bull and aggressive guy. i wont be suprisewd if he leads the acc in scoring the next few years.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/18/2010 - 12:37pm #356860

JNixonParticipantYeah Quincey, make a Pac-10 scouting report.
Also, why do you find like 1 little detail and then try and make a debate about it? Who really knows who’s the best defensive player in something as broad as an entire graduation class?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/18/2010 - 2:49pm #357021
stanford hoopsanyone that puts up something is open to criticism. some can handle it some cant. you have no problem when i agree with what you put up( which is most of the scouting that you do) but as soon as i dont agree with something that i know is wrong you take issue with it. If ive seen or someone else has seen a player many times and says that they are a good shooter and you say they are a below average shooter even though you haven’t seen the kid more then they have then of course im gonna say something. And i expect someone to do the same when i put things up.
