Despite that almost everybody on this site gets ‘killed’ for posting trade ideas I really enjoy reading and discussing them. Looking for lacking pieces on teams around the league and matching them with ‘redundant’ or available players from other teams is a nice ‘game’ for me personally. So here are some ideas; please feel free to discuss and comment, maybe give alternative ideas how to improve proposed trades. Let the discussion begin!

    Biyombo to Cavs
Big man Bismack Biyombo has a marginalized role on the Hornets these days, being stuck behind Jefferson, Zeller, Williams and (in the near future) Vonleh. Although he provides no offense at all he does provide rim protection, and with that being said this is exactly the thing the Cavs lack; someone to block shots, defend the post and not demand any touches on offense. In return the Cavs could send back one or two future second round picks and absorb Biyombo’s $4 million in its trade exception. Another option would be to send either Thompson away to the Hornets (both are on expiring contracts) or involve a third team like Atlanta (with the Hawks sending Carroll to the Hornets?) or Indiana (sending Copeland to the Hornets and a second round pick to the Cavs) to  send Waiters to a team in need of a talented two-guard. Trading away talented players like Thompson or Waiters away might seem like losing out on the trade, but the Cavs desperately need someone that can defend the paint and Biyombo fits the bill.

    Bledsoe to Bulls
I stated this idea in another post as well. Although this might sound crazy, I believe it might make sense for the both sides. The Bulls need someone at the 2 who can create his own shot and defend. Bledsoe brings both, while also providing the Bulls with an insurance policy might Rose get injured again and again. Main issue what do the Bulls send in return?
Despite getting injured, Taj Gibson is a very underrated PF in this game, playing both sides of the ball. His athleticism fits nicely with the Suns, who are actually in need of more defense near the rim. He his under contract for 3 more years for a very reasonable amount of dollars. Adding Dunleavy to the package (expiring contract) gives the Suns cap relief (Gibson makes $8 million compared to Bledsoe’s $13 million) which they can use for re-signing Dragic. Maybe the Bulls have to include a (second-round) draft pick to sweeten the deal?

Jackson for Shumpert or Hardaway Jr. (due in a few weeks when Westbrook gets healthy)
Jackson will be a RFA who almost certaintly will be to expensive for OKC. If they have a chance to flip him for a above-average SG with potential they should do it. Either Shumpert or Hardaway Jr. would do the trick, with Shumpert being easier to pry away (he is also a RFA) and slightly less talented than Hardaway.
For the Knicks, they would finally get a young upcoming PG over whom they would have control next summer. This would allow them to first try and sign a big man (Gasol?) and then deal with Jackson (although Houston shows this doesn’t always work). They should to satisfy OKC with Shumpert (as Hardaway has more potential I believe), maybe by including a young back-up PG in Larkin next to Shumpert as well.

    Other random need/trade ideas:
    – The Clippers need depth on the wing, preferable a starting SF. Although Denver has an abundance of that the question is what the Clippers can give in return…
    – Minnesota still has a quality piece in T. Young who they don’t need. Maybe an option for the Raptors as their starting PF?
    – Denver is in need of star power instead of depth. Any chance they might replace Lawson for Rondo? Is that an upgrade?

If Butler keeps up his recent level of play he will receive a max or near-max offer this summer and are the Bulls willing to match such an offer? I don’t think they will…

I don’t see the incentive in the Knicks trading Shumpert for Jackson. Yes, Jackson is a much better player but they could keep Shumpert, one of their few net positive players and sign Reggie Jackson during the offseason. The chances of the Thunder matching a quasi-max contract offer for him is slim to none and the Knicks have the added advantage of frontloading the deal, since they have cap space. On top of that, the Knicks have every interest to be AWFUL this season to grab a top 3 draft pick, which is something that Jackson’s talent would prevent from happening.

If I’m the Knicks, I want until the offseason when I have the ultimate leverage and then see what my options are. Until then, it’s best to sit tight.

I feel that John Henson is another guy who definitely deserves more playing time and should be moved to Cleveland where he can provide rim protection and rebounding.  I don’t know what the Bucks would demand in return since a guy like Dion would be horrible for the identity they are trying to establish.  Probably one or two first round picks.

If I am the Suns I would keep Bledsoe and let Dragic walk. Dragic is a great player don’t get me wrong but I think he only really thrives if in a great situation like he was last year. Meanwhile Bledsoe is just a special type of talent that does it all with upside to get even better.

Hopefully you have something in the works for all the inquiring minds of the Nets next move. Possible Waiters pull?

Funny to see that the Jackson for Shumpert idea has been published in an article on bleacherreport a few days ago. They wouldn’t read these forums now, would they? Really…. really? 😉

I totally understand where you are coming from. There was a mysterious "It’s gotta be the shoes" segment from a reporter the day after I created my Derrick Rose and Mars Blackmon meme on the ankle injury in Toronto. A lot of these people don’t have creativity. They search the social media outlets and steal thoughts then report them "first" because they have the bigger platform to do so. Truth always shine bright once you dig deep.

All I can say to you is to keep doing what you’ve been maintaining to do with your trade ideas, because this site has a pretty strong following. Someone will call out bullsh*t when they see and smell it.
