thaprodigyParticipantWho do you guys have on your all star teams so far? Here’s mine.
West Starters:
- Curry
- Westbrook
- Green
- Leonard
- Durant
Bench:
- Harden
- Griffin
- Cousins
- Davis
- Lillard
- Knight
- Wiggins
Obviously I kind of put more of an importance on those having an impact on teams with a winning record and Cousins, Davis, or Blake could easily be swapped in. Of course I also didn’t take into account players like Kobe, Duncan, or Dirk making the team which is very possible. Also have a few wildcards with Wiggins, Knight, and Lillard but I felt one of the Suns backcourt should make it, Lillard’s averaging 25 & 8, and Wiggins is avergaing 21 with Minny being 8-12 after four really close losses.
East Starters:
- Lowry
- Wade
- LeBron
- George
- Drummond
Bench:
- DeRozan
- Melo
- Butler
- Love
- I.Thomas
- Millsap
- Wall
East is kind of more clearcut Wade kind of being the only true question mark, although I think once the Wizards get rolling Beal will find his way in there and some others that deserve real consideration are Whiteside, Gasol, Giannis, and even Porzingis.

PulseGlazerParticipantDuncan will and should make the West team. Also, Boogie is having a really bad year so far. How a big shoots 41%…

thaprodigyParticipantYeah, I said Duncan will probably make it but he’s averaging 10 & 9 and as far as Cousins his last 4 games probably brought his percentages down a couple of points, probably was at 45%, still not good for a big man but better than 40.

dcaseParticipantAlthough his numbers don’t warrant an all star spot, Kobe will be voted in as a starter for the West.

UncledrewParticipantDidn’t realize Draymond was putting up 13 pts 8 boards and 7 asst 1.5 blocks. He can replace Hayward as a reserve front court player but Hayward hasn’t been a slouch. I find it hard to replace anyone on the west team because there all putting up monster numbers. There are a few deserving spots on the East ( Love, IT, Kemba, Giannis) but that should set up some interesting snubs

Hype MachineIf the NBA 1st team was decided today, Id have Kawhi Leonard, Draymond Green and KD as my frontcourt.
I’d consider Blake Griffin too, but can’t kick KD out

r377ParticipantI am not a fan of Melo-noma. Yes, the regular part time fan without much clue will still vote him in. On a losing team he is averaging 21ppg on just 40%. This will be his last all-star game, his body is breaking down and Zinga will lead them in scoring next year (he is on 15ppg already)
A few names which could be mentioned.
Reggie Jackson on a winning Pistons team. 19-4-6 on 43%.
Bosh has 17-9 with his team sitting second in the East (12-7)
Batum on a winning team (12-8) 17-7-5 40% on 3’s

Mr. HookShotParticipantBatum really impresses me, after a down year at Portland. He is one of those glue guys who can give to a team whatever the team needs..

Ahkasi ClayParticipantbut I just dont think the fans are going to make him a starter.
on a side note, if (like it is in doubt) the warriors have the best record at the allstar break is Walton, or Kerr the coach?

PulseGlazerParticipantI don’t know about all start, but I love the year Batum is having. Since Kemba apparently can’t, Batum is running what’s been so far a top 5 offense.

JMoney31ParticipantNot a chance Kobe doesnt get voted in as a starter in his last year. Ill be very surprised to see Lowry not starting either. and with the game in canada i could se Demar putting up a good run to start as well.

Hype MachineOff topic…but would the All Star game be better if it was competitive?
I love the Dunk contest, 3pt Contest, and even that one which Bosh and ‘Nique keep winning.
But the ASG itself…it feels like its a gimmick and seems a waste of talent cos players dont take it seriously.

MatosParticipantNot really only because the team is not really a team. Its just a bunch of great players put together. No chemistry. Doesn’t really prove much. If they played for home court advantage in the finals, that would add some value, but it still wouldnt prove who had the better players. Since you cant really ever get that out of the ASG, instead you want to see who can put on the best show.

YungmUNyParticipantI like the idea that has been floated around in the past of making it a Team USA v. Team World event, so there’s more of a pride/interest factor.
However, at the end of the day, I’ve always seen a player’s All-Star nomination as an honor more than anything. When people talk about Kobe during his retirement, they talk about his 17 All-Star appearances. I know there are your flukes… Chris Gatling, Theo Ratliff, Dale Davis, Kyle Korver, etc., but at the end of the day, there’s a long list of players defined by the number of All-Star games they’ve made (or never made for that matter… that’s an interesting list as well).
If we sort of did away with the general structure of the All-Star game as it is, it’d sort of make all of those "All-Star" accomplishments of those players less meaningful over time.

YungmUNyParticipantIt’s cool seeing all the love for Dae Dae. He’ll definitely be an All-Star if he (and the team) continue to play half this well heading into February. It’s pretty incredible that he’s leading the team in rebounds AND assists. I don’t think he’ll get the nod from the fans for the starting spot though. Just based on last year’s fan voting, Kobe’s farewell tour, and this year’s player performances, these are my way too early predictions, or rather, what I think it’d look like if the season ended today:
West
G – Stephen Curry
G – Kobe Bryant (who decides to rest and the spot is given to Russell Westbrook)
F – Kevin Durant
F – Anthony Davis
F – Blake GriffinReserves: Kawhi Leonard, Klay Thompson, Marc Gasol, LaMarcus Aldridge, James Harden, Damian Lillard, Dirk Nowitzki
(Snubs: Chris Paul, Gordon Hayward, Eric Bledsoe, DeMarcus Cousins)I love Timmy D, and his longevity is amazing, as well as is his actual impact on the court still, but he hasn’t played to a level this season to really garner a nod over any of those eleven guys listed above as reserves and snubs.
East
G – Kyle Lowry
G – Dwyane WadeF – LeBron James
F – Paul George
F – Carmelo Anthony
Reserves: Jimmy Butler, Andre Drummond, Paul Millsap, Kevin Love, John Wall, Isaiah Thomas
(Snubs: Pau Gasol, DeMar Derozan … with DeRozan getting first injury preference as a sub due to the game being in T-Dot)
