McWinningParticipantbetween the Knicks, and Nets, who has the better roster?

butidonthavemoneyThe Nets do.
Harris/Lee/T-Will/Lopez

McWinningParticipantwhere are the Knicks fans when you need them in an argument?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/09/2009 - 4:52pm #198420

llperezHarris and Lopez should be great conrestone pieces. Knicks don’t have too many guys that I would call building blocks.

RickyRubio9ParticipantJordan Hill and the Italion Stallion aren’t building blocks??? GASP!

McWinningParticipantas of right now its not much but if the Knicks resign David Lee, and Nate Robinson they might be considered building blocks.

RickyRubio9Participanthaven’t had a Franchise Player in some time…Stephon Marbury? Nope. Franchise? Nope. Z. Randolph? Nope.
None…in a while. The Nets have some…MAN! Come on Knicksfreak, QHaynes, Where is the arguing?0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/09/2009 - 4:57pm #198426
McWinningParticipanthaha yeah i thought this topic would get the Knicks fans going.

GoodbyeChandlerParticipantnets, knicks have too many chucks like harrington and hughes
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/09/2009 - 5:15pm #198439

gatorheelsParticipantNets…it is fairly close though. If the Knicks get Sessions & resign Lee then I would give the edge to New York.

RickyRubio9ParticipantYou’d take Lee and Sessions over Harris and Lopez?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/09/2009 - 5:46pm #198445

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantThe Nets have the better roster, no questions asked. They have a star point guard, a young shooting guard and small forward that are only going to get better, and a future star center. Don’t forget about Dooling coming off the bench. Hopefully, Douglas-Roberts and Yi step up this year to provide some much needed help.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantwowwwwww gator… devin harris is BY FAR the best player on either team, and brook lopez is one of the few promising big men (true/traditional big men) in the game today. He’s only going to get MORE valuable as time passes and guys like Shaq and Duncan fall off… to me, it’s not close at all, even if they sign sessions, lee and robinson. don’t fall in love with those NY guys just because they had decent numbers in D’Antoni’s system.
I’d also take TWill and C. Lee over any of the knicks wings, except (maybe) chandler.

CLYDE-frazier10Participanthave by far the best shooter on either team in gallo
if they get thier deals done this yearknicks
session
hughes
chandler
lee
millicnets
harris
lee
t-will
Yi(bust in making i should say)
lopezthe name of this topic is as of right now meaning who wins more games next year not in next 3 years
lets compare
harris trumps sessions
hughes trumps lee( lee is overrated IMO)
chandler trumps T-will
lee trumps yi
lopez trumps millicand knicks would have better bench with nate Gallo curry hill douglass
nets only have skip to my lou and dooling two point gaurds0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/09/2009 - 9:20pm #198495

CLYDE-frazier10Participanti was a lil hypocritical there i said as of now nd i didnt even use the current team, i predicted the knicks piking up sessions lmao

bkballerParticipantdont get me wrong i think both teams have long ways to go…but the knicks get overlooked a lot.
other than the young core, the nets have nothing going for them. let me break this down.
Toney, Hill, Milicic > CDR, TWILL, YI
only a year ago Gallo > Lopez …. The edge deff goes to lopez for now but let that play out many feel lopez reached his ceiling, while gallo has star potential.Chandler > Lee
Lee + Nate not much worse than Harris… Lets see how harris does without his sidekick.
Harrington, Duhon, Hughes, Curry > Dooling, Simmons, Hayes, Boone
Knicks will sign someone…most likely Sessions who will also add to my argument. Maybe jason williams or iverson to help out the bench as well. Nets are selling and will continue to do so.
D’antoni >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Frank
After the nets win 20 games and their future is uncertain by 2010 whether they stay in jersey no real free agent will commit. Knicks offer and attractive city with a BETTER CORE than people give them credit for.
Before anyone gets mad i will repeat…BOTH TEAMS MISS THE PLAYOFFS…my argument is that the nets are not as far (if at all) ahead of the knicks talent wise and potential wise. Knicks have more players with the ability to be stars.
I know this is a lot but i gotta defend the knicks
if they get sessions (hopefully) …. how isSessions, Robinson, Chandler, Gallo, Hill, Douglas, Lee, Harrington, Milicic, Hughes, Curry
worse than
Harris, Lopez, CDR, Yi, Twill, Lee, Hayes, Simmons, Dooling, Battie, AlstonIf i had to pick one non-biasedly, I take the top one.

bkballerParticipantNow the Knicks
NO I DO NOT THINK THE KNICKS ARE A VERY GOOD TEAM
however….i think they are in a better position than the nets are…
lemme start off by assuming we get nate and lee back…or get equal value back for them, because they will either sign them or sign and trade.
People overlook that lee LED THE LEAGUE in double doubles. Very efficient, plays with heart…great 3rd-4th man on a championship contending team.
Nate robinson would have won 6th man of the year had the knicks made the playoffs. Doesnt get much better than him as a sparkplug off the bench. averaged over 30 a game for a span off 2 weeks. Better than any bench player on the nets.
Wilson Chandler – Physical specimen that single handedly has a higher ceiling than anyone on the nets. Body type of Lebron and the physical tools to play 3 positions, will continue to grow and i dont know if i would take lopez for him.
Gallinari – most non knick fans have no idea who he is. They will soon 6-10 and one of the purest shots in the nba. Played last season injured still shot 44% from 3 and only missed 1 free throw all year. Give this kid a chance if he can stay healthy hes a star. he was rated higher than lopez one many mock drafts, so he still can prove that.
Harrington – gets no love because he makes dumb mistakes sometimes, but averaged over 20 ppg, only harris scores more.
Hill – unproven but rated higher than t-will
toney douglas >CDR
Milicic – potential, also bust like Yi, but cancels Yi out.
Have some depth – hughes, curry (dont laugh 2 yrs ago he was top 5 center in the nba, went through off court problems, give him a chance, Duhon = Dooling.KNICKS ARE STILL LOOKING FOR WAYS TO IMPROVE UNLIKE NETS WHO ARE JUST SELLING;. IF KNICKS GET SESSIONS THEY ARGUABLY HAVE A BETTER “YOUNG CORE”
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/09/2009 - 11:02pm #198499
bkballerParticipantOK im tired of this underrating of NY, and overrating of the nets “young talent”.
Let me start with the nets “talent”.
Harris is not a real PG who is injury prone and really benifitted from playing with carter. Other than speed he doesnt have much, and his numbers will drop this year. I can argue that him and nate are about equivalent as scorers. Look for him to have more pressure to carry the team this year and average about 18 and 6.
Brook (13, 8 rookie yr) is going to be a solid center for many years….NOT A STAR. hes no tim duncan (tim averaged 22 and 11 rookie year)….more of a zydrunas ilgauskas(14,11) or slightly taller emeka okafor (15,10) .
Lee – is a solid 4-5th option and has not really proven to be much else, only averaging 8ppg as a starter last year i cant put him as a stud until he proves something.
YI IS A BUST – horrendus a seven footer who shoots 38% from the floor if not for the money he was bringing in from china he would be out of the league.
CDR – selected second round….never proved to be worth more than that selection…enough said.
TWILL- 7-8th rotation player off the bench at best, no shot more in a jarvis hayes mold than anything else.after that the cup is very bare, if they do not get huge free agents in 2010 (i dont think they will, noone knows where they going to be a few years down the line, what star wants to commit to that). Who is the supporting cast outside of this “young talent” most of which never proved anything? Battie? lol boone? haha Only decent player coming off that bench is dooling…..

xbadgerhustlerParticipanthahaha non-biasedly…
anyways, I’ll agree the knicks have more talent than I’m probably giving them credit for. My biggest problem with the Knicks is that they have no interior D. Gallo? Harrington? Lee? Curry? Millicic? that’s just scary to me. And your point about Lee… grab a lot of double-doubles, but that’s in large part because of the number of possessions the knicks force (and the number of shots they missed! he avg 3+ oreb/gm)
I really don’t understand why you hate Devin Harris so much… and the fact that you think Nate is anywhere near Harris makes me question your judgment a bit…. If Devin played in NY I’d guess he’d probably average about 30ppg FOR THE SEASON! lol (alright, so half-kidding, but don’t give me this garbage about Nate averaging 30 pts for two weeks.) Devin Harris average 29.2 ppg over a 10gm stretch AND a separate 9gm stretch last year…
I only think Brook will do better now that VC is gone… he and harris are going to be the focal point of their offense, as they should be… not to mention that he’s by far the best interior defender of all the bigs on either team.
and for the record Larry Hughes is not a winning basketball player and I’d gladly take Lee over hughes everyday of the week.

gatorheelsParticipantRickyRubio- I never said I would take Sessions & Lee over Harris & Lopez. I said if the Knicks sign Sessions & DLee then they would have a better team than New Jersey this season. Here is why I think that:
Starters
PG- Harris vs. Sessions – Harris has a descent edge but it isn’t as big as people think
SG- Lee vs. Hughes – right now Hughes is the better player slightly
SF- Hayes vs. Chandler – I have to give Chandler a slight edge here
PF- Yi vs. Harrington – OK this is a mismatch, Harrington would destroy Yi
C- Lopez vs. Lee – EvenBench
PG- Dooling vs. Duhon – I give dooling a slight edge
SG- TWill vs. Douglas – TWill a slight edge
SF- Simmons vs. Gallinari – slight edge to Gallinari
PF- Sean Williams vs. Hill – descent edge to Hill
C- Boone vs. Milicic – slight edge to MilicicOverall IMO Knicks have a better starting lineup & bench. This is a big IF though considering Lee & Sessions have not signed with the Knicks. Like I said earlier the Nets are the better team if the Knicks don’t pick up anymore free agents.
