valentineThis dude has received a lot of nba hype and i just don’t understand it. I understand he has good physical tools (6’11 230 and a good athlete) but playing in c-usa the last two years he only aver aged 8 and 8 and then 9 and 7 last year. Certainly not bad but he transferred to miss state and im wondering can he make an impact in the SEC? And where do you guys see him being drafted or do you even see him being drafted and can he be an nba player?

omar dayzeParticipanti think alot of the buzz is because he is very young for his class…
but i must admit, having watched a fair few UTEP games last year (Caracter and Culpepper are fun to watch) i really didnt see much in Moultrie’s game besides his size and mobility.
Saying that, its not rare that a dude makes the league simply for those very reasons.0 - Posted on: Sun, 07/11/2010 - 5:36am #351732

JNixonParticipantHe has a ways to go before he’s a truly good NBA player BUT he does have some things that are good. He has size and athleticism like you mentioned, and seems to be a good mid-range shooter. He also was underused because he had a ball-dominant guy in Randy Culpepper (who’s nasty as hell…look out for him next year) and another ball-dominant player in Derrick Caracter on the low block. He’s better than the 10 ppg he put up. He’s a 13 ppg scorer to me.
He’s not the shot-blocker or defender he needs to be considering his physical and athletic ability, and he can be extremely soft and passive down low too. I watched UTEP play last year and there were times I had no clue he was on the floor.
I think I’d compare him to Darrell Arthur if I had to make an NBA comparison

Malik-UniversalParticipanti saw him play once, he moves around the court very nicely, hes a real good athelte, nimble guy, i think he can have 3 pt ability too, i dont think hes very consistent with his shot tho.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantIf he had came out this year..He would’ve been a 2nd round pick based on his upside..A friend of mines was a workout where Derrick Character was 1 of the players being watched..He said heard 1 scout say that Moultrie & Memphis’s Wesley Witherspoon were the 2 top NBA prospects in Conference USA…And that both players lacked maturity and might not get drafted at all if they came out this year..But if they remained in school, became more matured and worked on their game..They could become lottery picks in a year or 2…

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantHe isn’t eligible to play at Mississippi State until 2011-12, so that is two drafts away. He has the physical gifts to get a look at the profesional ranks, but so does John Riek. Players need to put in the work and make the most of their size, length, strength, etc. The next two years will determine a ton in whether he should get drafted.
