valentineI think so. This site has him as the 2nd best prospect but alot of people think he’s overrated? I actually saw some people compare him to Pau Gasol. I think he is a good Defensive prospect but a little raw on O, should we wait?
I mean no offense but we dont know who’s gonna pan out. I think Ed Davis is gonna end up worth the #2 pick the site thinks.

OrangeJuiceJonesParticipantThis might sound dumb, but he reminds me of Brandan Wright. He might not be as skinny, but he is just as raw. They’re both really long, athletic and have neither a face-up game or a back to the basket game.

FutureoftheGameHe reminds me of Darrell Arthur.

McWinningParticipanti dont see it he hasnt proven himself as a starter and with Lawson, and Hansbrough will he pick up the slack? im not sure?

Lemons4LifeParticipantDavis clearly hasn’t proved himself yet. NBAdraft.net is overrating the guy. He will, and I repeat, will never go number 2 or 1. I guess he is an ok defender, but Davis is hype right now. Unfortunately I must say this for all freshmen, until they all play this year. As for Davis, I am just comepletely baffled at the idea of even in the top 5. I’m acting like a hater, but you know what the fact is he hasn’t proved anything great yet.

QHaynes20davis did not start. He got some more time as the season progressed. I think in this season, he will start and show mass potential

gatorheelsParticipantQHaynes- I thought you used to not be that high on Ed Davis….what changed your mind?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 08/15/2009 - 4:08pm #201229
QHaynes20I saw some more tape on him. His game has it’s high spots. I think he is gonna be good in the NBA
0 - Posted on: Sat, 08/15/2009 - 4:19pm #201235

gatorheelsParticipantI think he is solid too. What he did in the national championship game was impressive. 11 points 8 rebounds in only 14 minutes of playing time. He is raw but you can definitely see potential.

QHaynes20I think he will get alot of 20-10 games this season. He is a little raw I think with the PT he got last year can help him be dominant this season
0 - Posted on: Sat, 08/15/2009 - 4:25pm #201242

gatorheelsParticipantI wonder how many minutes he will get? I know it will be more than last year but North Carolina still has a lot of big men….Thompson, Zeller, Henson, Travis & David Wear
0 - Posted on: Sat, 08/15/2009 - 4:27pm #201243
QHaynes20He’s gonna get like 30-40 min.
He will most likely play at the 5. Zeller is another guy to look out for, high upside IMO

blazer_fan_foreverParticipantAs a big UNC fan, I really like this guys game. I think coming back for another year of college was a very smart choice. He has an underrated post game, nice length, and good defensive tools. He obviously needs to work on his strength, but most guys his age also need to. I don’t ever see him being a star, but I think a top-10 pick is not out of the reach at all…Also, citrusiswow3 a lot of sites have Davis as a top-5 pick…It’s not just nbadraft.net.

McWinningParticipanti think he will have a decent season but i think his nba career will be like Goodens tons of potentiol but only a good backup.

rickybobbyParticipantDavis is going to be a lock for a top 5 pick after next season. He’s a athletic big who rebounds well, gets the job done well on defense. His moves in the Post are not top notch yet but they will get there. Has a very nice jump hook that he uses very affective. And he’s a better shooter than everyone gives him credit for, He can shoot it good to about 15-20 feet. And also gets it done at the line for a big man knockin down over 70% of his freethrows. 5th pick in next years draft at worst

QHaynes20I think Davis is gonna be like Al Jefferson if he reaches his full potential
0 - Posted on: Sat, 08/15/2009 - 4:53pm #201264

tjc23Participanthe has done nothing yet he is over rated he is not that good
0 - Posted on: Sat, 08/15/2009 - 4:55pm #201266
QHaynes20So, John Wall is overrated then?
Derrick Favors?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 08/15/2009 - 5:01pm #201271

butidonthavemoneyYes he is very underrated. He has a similer physical profile to Brandon Wright in that he is long, lanky and athletic but he is a much better defender than Wright ever was. He isn’t a stud on offense yet but anybody who says that there isn’t potential there is flat out ignorant. Shouldn’t be a top 5 pick? I would like to hear a better explaination than the overused and unoriginal, “He is all hype” argument.
“All hype” and “Overrated” should be banned from use on this website. Let’s use the reason section of our brain to have decent arguments.

canesboy6ParticipantEd davis plays more old school basketball. I really like his potential, and I think once he gains some weight and measures in at around 6’10 in shoes and around 240 he will look alot more like a beast. People can’t really hate on his lack of production because he was the 6th man on a national championship team playing behind a college legend in Hansbrough, and a 2 year starter in Thompson. He will start at center this year and get plenty of looks. He is a beast, incredible post defender whoever said he is ok hasn’t watched him play. He was a game changer when he came in, blocking shots, dunking, getting clutch rebounds. This year he will break out and be a monster and a top 5 pick.

Lemons4LifeParticipantMaybe if I reword myself he’s RAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

quincey hodgesfor one he wont get a bunch of 20 10 games because hes very raw on offense. second how is he wayyyy ahead of Brandan wright on defense when Brandan wright was a very good defender. ed davis was a ok defender because of his athletisim he wasnt a lock down slide youre feet get in good position defender at all. if anything hes overrated because his stock is based on potenial and what people think hes gonna do. every big man that is athletic is labeled potenial and if they sign with a big school or didnt play awhole lot they are considered to have more potenial. something alot of fans dont realize that more time does show more potenial but it also shows more weaknesses in a players game which is why alot of players go in the draft earlier then people think they should. right now ed davis has a better chance of dropping then he does rising.

QHaynes20Davis will have a couple 20-10 games because he had some good games while getting 15-20 min. I see him having a big impact next season.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/16/2009 - 10:20am #201516
quincey hodgeshe is raw on offense, it was easier for him to score while being raw last year because defenses had to concentrate on tyler, green, lawson, ellington, and even thompson. thompson will be there go to big man and lead them in scoring and rebounding. he’ll have more 20-10 games befor ed will

QHaynes20Come on now, I see Davis with a couple 20-10 games because who in the ACC has post players like UNC? I think he can get like 2-5 20-10 games because he able to rebound well and his ability to bully down low can allow him to score
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/16/2009 - 10:35am #201527
quincey hodgesbecause he doesnt have much in terms of offensive moves. i can see him getting 10 rebounds. even big men with more offense have trouble getting 20 and 10. actually maybe he can get it against northcarolina institute of tech. tru the acc doesnt have alot great big men but there are big men who can play defense
0 - Posted on: Sun, 08/16/2009 - 1:42pm #201571

JNixonParticipantHe has potential but he’s really just a long athletic guy with no standout skill. Sounds exactly like Brandan Wright to me. He is a hard working player so I think he could eventually gain weight and develop skills, but I think he’s more of a 2011 prospect. He shouldnt be a no.1 pick type player though, I dont see that. Lottery worthy, yea maybe if he develops more, but 1st pick no.
