SamCarlsonParticipantBear with me here because I know it will not be a pretty season for the Sixers. However, I do think that Jahlil is going to transition to the NBA game very nicely. He will learn the speed of the game the first few weeks but I think a month in he will already be posting some 20/10 games.
Noel is clearly not natural at the PF position but he has been working his ass off on his mid range shot. He has such length and athleticism that he gets a few garbage buckets a game and he can be a terror defensively on both traditional and stretch 4’s. If he continues to hone that mid range j and shoot it with confidence he will be a good player.
Finally, I really like Robert Covington. Got to watch him play the Bulls last year. He is 6’9" and moves well on the wing. He has a smooth stroke and he plays within himself and never looks to force. I unfortunately could see Hinke trying to flip him to a playoff team. I am not saying that you can build around this guy but he is a good glue guy and there are not many guys in the leage with his size and stroke.
I think that if these guys are developed right and they bring in some elite guard play they have a bright future even before Embiid and Saric enter the picture

trelos6ParticipantDon’t forget the sniper that is Stauskas. I really hope he gets a chance to start and play 30+ mpg.
He has a sweet shot and his floor spacing will be crucial to allow Okafor to operate in the post.

Ebown5ParticipantI’m a Sixer fan, and agree that Okafor and Noel are going to be very good in their spots, but Covington is a pure role player. He is a very good shooter, and has been a great find for us, but he shouldn’t play more than 20 min on a good team.
We need a 1, 2 and a 3.

DukeDaSquadParticipantI also think that Stauskas is another very good player on this team. He was drafted into a very bad organization and then shipped off at the end of the year. He was a top ten pick and it was well deserved after what he showed at michigan. He is known for his shooting, but he is also a very good ball handler and he has major hops. The only thing holding him back is lack of play time, experience, and bad defense ( so i’ve heard).

PulseGlazerParticipantI don’t think Staukas’ defense will allow him to be more than a solid reserve, but I hope I’m wrong.

NBAjunkie81ParticipantI really like the Wizards…. but as far as Phila, they did not have their new starting back court of Marshall & Stauskus – & I’m excited to see if that can work but even if it does not my Lord Noel & Okafor are Beasts! – I was So impressed w/ both of these young 7 foot studs… We all know the young NBA prospects improve exponentially from from year 1 to year 2 to year 3 to year 4… It’s downright scary to think about how good Noel, Okafor (& Embiid) are going to be in a few years after they’ve been practicing w/ each other Everyday & gaining experience… Most teams are Very lucky if they One 7 footer who can score, rebound & play defense at all let alone at a high level & it looks like Phila has 3…. I’d be Very excited if I were a long suffering Sixers fan….

holefillers1ParticipantCovington got seriously outplayed by Otto Porter last night. He still can’t dribble drive so he becomes yet another 3/D guy for the Sixers. As for the team, I see TRoe being the starting PG for his ability to get to the hoop. The offense will go thru Okafor and Wroten surrounded by an endless combination of athletic wings, some can shoot. Some can play D…I fully expect the small forward position to be adressed in the draft.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI like how Philly is going big while others are going small. You might as well roll the dice. Jah and Noel looks like a good combo on paper. Embiid, if he can accept being a 6th man should be an ideal 3rd big.
Does the starting five look like this? Wroten, Stauskas, Covington, Noel, and Okafor? With Embiid as the 6th man.
Then take the best wing in the draft. Stauskas can shoot but he is no superstar. He might be better off as an instant offense (shooter) guy off the bench.
Looks like they are set at the big man spots. Especially when (if?) Saric comes over.
One of the big things this year will be to figure out if Tony Wroten is THE GUY at point guard for them…
They are doing basically what I try to do in fantasy basketball. Get a bunch of big men who can block shots, rebound, and shoot a high percentage. Get a big point guard, give up on TO’s, FT%, and 3’s then fill out the wing spots later.
Brett Brown should do whatever works for Okafor and Noel. Tony Wroten needs to find a way to do his thing BUT they are playing big man ball, not small ball. After that, find the 4th option. Either at the shooting guard spot or the small forward spot.
… what they might need to do is go smaller off the bench. One center (Embiid when healthy), a stretch four, then 3 perimeter guys who can shoot and score.

HitsterParticipantOkafor and Noel look to compliment each other as a duo nicely. Embiid to be added into the mix when he is sound too. Everyone else on the roster is playing for a spot so guys like Stauskas can stake a legit shot at making a go in the NBA.
They still have Saric to come over who will give options at SF or as a combo forward off the bench.
Their needs are still PG and SG plus maybe a combo SG/SF. There are guys on the roster like Wroten who should be a keeper but he may be more an impact scorer off the bench IMO.
The T-Wolves although they actually had a worse season than the 76ers last year are likely further along the rebuilding road and have added a trio of solid veterans recently. Regardless of how much KG, Miller and Prince play they will help the younger guys to mature and learn. The 76ers may want to add a similar guy or two but until Hinkie has got the roster virtually how he wants it then it isn’t much point as a lot of the guys may be moved on.
For next year’s draft Jamal Murray looks like the sort of guy that Philly should target, there are questions on whether he is an SG or a PG but he should fill one need at least.

PulseGlazerParticipantWolves had a worse year, but they aren’t neccessarily further along their rebuild because of anything they did, but rather because they had Kevin Love on the team at the start of it and they got a potential superstar for him.
