MalcolmxParticipantBaltimore sun first reported this. Stating that Aquille is thinking of skipping college and turning professional overseas. I do think Aquille would be a pro overseas and overseas only, but I’m not sure if him attempting to do it now is the right move.May God bless him though. I do feel he is a good player, just not sure if he should make this move now.

MalcolmxParticipantThis is the four page piece the B-more Sun did on this matter.

SiggyParticipantHe can start his Harlem Globetrotter career early.

alingeParticipantWill this mean, he will enter the draft this year or wait and improve his stock. I would presume he goes undrafted, but he is draft eligible this year because he retook a year of high school and that means he is eligible for this year.

ph90702He’s got to pay for his newborn child somehow.

MalcolmxParticipantNo bro, he never retook a year of high school. He was held back before high school. He entered high school in 2009 which means 2013 was always his class when he stepped foot in high school.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantYeah Aquille is not in the regular “college type” siuation. hes from the hood and has a baby to support. He also has family members to support, since he did an extra year of high school i could see him playing overseas or the d league for a year and trying to make the NBA 2014

jmarg25ParticipantOverseas would definitely be the option if he’s trying to get money.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThe issue with Carr’s consideration is that there simply aren’t clubs paying unproven players big money oversees. The economy for basketball in Europe is not what it was when Brandon Jennings went. Unless one of the shoe companies think he will ultimately be a marketable player in the NBA, they aren’t going to help subsidize the move. If a team doesn’t think there is a guaranteed NBA buyout coming, then there are not a ton of incentives for them to ante up much money. There are plenty of guy with better resumes (NBA resumes) who can help them win, and won’t scare the GM by being 5′ 6″. The rumor about the offer a couple years ago was laughed off by the Roman club. There simply isn’t funny money flying around anymore.
Josiah Turner is on his third team this year, and none of them have been with a team anybody has heard of before, and the Canadian league doesn’t pay much. Renardo Sidney never got on the court with the D-Fenders before waiving him when he got hurt (I think he has been re-signed but it is hard to know when he still hasn’t played). Jereme Richmond is playing in the now merged PBL-IBL. The fringe minor leagues around the country are full of guys who thought they were ready to be pros. Unless he takes the Latavious Williams and is willing to make just $20-30K for a season in order to build a pro resume, I just don’t see from where the offer will come. If he can perform and stay out of trouble for a year at Seton Hall, it changes a lot.

MalcolmxParticipantYou have a lot of great and valid points that I really can’t argue with. Also I didn’t know the economy has went down over there since BJ went pro. I would like to know what do you think about a JUCO player who averages 20 and 10 in their sophomore year attempting to go overseas. We are talking 6’6 205 Kangaroo kind of hops. Not great perimeter skills but can get by his man from time to time.Is really a high post and baseline player. Kind of a Mike Glover.

alingeParticipantAs a European our economy is a piece of shit right now, but that really wouldn’t affect pro sports teams at the level Brandon Jennings played, they are all still massively bankrolled. The problem is teams at that level or any decent level in Europe are not going to pay a lot of money for a 5″6 ball dominant point guard, who has character concerns and is unproven above high school level. Remember Brandon Jennings was a top 5 recruit, Carr isn’t.

MalcolmxParticipantHow many high level league are there in Europe?

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantThere are still clubs that still pay good money, but aren’t paying it to unproven players. Also, there are fewer of them. Benetton Treviso was an Italian power for a long time, and they folded last summer. The top league in Greece used to have depth. Clubs like Maroussi, Aris, and Panellinios were able to sign accomplished players. It just isn’t the case right now. Maroussi and Panellinios don’t even field high division teams anymore.

SiggyParticipantTop Euro leagues likely wouldn’t want him, but there are leagues all over the place. He could probably catch on in some league in Asia. That’s where Jeremy Tyler finally settled when he left during HS. The league in the Philippines would be less of a culture shock than some of the others.

MalcolmxParticipantJeremy Tyler got paid big money from what i read.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantEverything is relative, but he didn’t make a ton in Japan.
“Salaries in the league typically range from around $50,000 to $100,000.”

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantHe would have a very hard time playing for a top level tam because he’s a score first pg and they like pass first point guards who can run a team and play defense. They als can’t stand all that flash

Professor RozayParticipantI always recommend that the kids should go to college. But in this case I’m not sure if going to college is the best choice for this young man. He obviously has a lot going on in his life. But I hope that he has smart people in his corner that he can talk to and help guide the young man. I know he has a kid and as a man you want to be able to support your child. Whatever he does I just hope it works for him.
