43rd pick in the draft averaging 11 points and 7.3 rebounds per game shooting 50% three games into his rookie season. The guy has also shown to be one of the better defenders on the team and keeps a lot of plays alive using his athleticism.It is rumored that he started so early because he just understands the game so much that he immediately picked up on the plays. He plays the game smart and within his means… so he will never be a star, but seems like a great rotation player.

I would just like to apologize for criticizing the pick and wanting the problem-child Lance Stephenson. This kid is really likeable, hustles out there and is extremely efficient on both ends of the floor.

Why wouldnt I be excited if a week into the season the 43rd pick has been

the 4th highest scoring rookie

the 3rd highest rebounder

the 3rd most efficicent

4th if you add up rebounds, assists, and points

tied for 2nd in shooting percentage for any rookie that has taken more than 10 shots

and you can say hes had more opportunity than others but…. hes only had ONE turnover in 90 minutes.

You mean, 39th pick… Landry Fields was the 39th pick.. the 43rd pick was Devin Ebanks…

Fields has been really impressive… People were right when they said "don’t sleep on this kid"…LOL…

lots of people were criticizing the pick when it was made. FIelds was one of the most slept on players in america last year. I dont care how down the pac was, 22 and 9 while putting a mediocre team on your back every night is impressive. He was the best player in the conference last year but didnt get the recognition or the conference mvp becasue his team was bad.

Rudeboy, you say you felt he should have gone 1st round last year, but i dont remember anybody stepping up and saying that before the draft. ANd i just checked your 2010 mock and you had him going undrafted.

perez, I was one of those guys who laughed at the pick and how the crazy Knicks fans reacted to it… They were happy to get Rautins but booed a little bit when they drafted Fields… The turn of the tide has come… Fields has been way more impressive so far compared to Rautins… I thought they’d be bringing another Luke Jackson type but clearly, he’s IQ is awesome not to mention he’s very coachable out there… good pick for the Knicks… I was wrong..

the thing i found funny was that out of 30 players picked in the second round including andy rautins who went ahead of him to the knicks. Nobody got the negative response on this site that fields did. I guess thats becasue aran didnt include him any mocks and he didnt play in the big east.

I did not knock on Fields but I did wish they would have picked up Ebanks or Stephenson.  I did not know who he was originally even though I saw him play as a freshmen randomly so once i found out who he was, I was not as off on the pick but I was wondering what New York was doing.

I think he is alot like Anthony Parker of the Cavs. Seems like he could easily average 15ppg or more with a bad percentage, but he uses his skills and effort on both ends of the floor, makes smart decisions, and plays within himself. High percantage shots, good athletisism, and solid defense is what every team wants from thier role playing SG.

I personally think he can be a starting wing on a championship team

 I don’t know if i want him starting on a championship caliber team… but he reminds me of a shane battier type of player, hard worker smart player and just does a ton of little things that really help the team. Not a great shooter, but a very smart shooter… picks his spots and take 7-8 shots per game but makes them at a high clip.
