Mad MaxParticipantI know big PGs are hot nowadays in the NBA, but I feel like if you’re a SG with good ball handling and a solid-good passer scouts wanted to project you as a PG. Being a quality PG is more than being tight with the ball and making passes, it’s a mindsest to run a team offensivly and control the pace of the game.
Same goes for Lavine and Clarkson.
Anyways I see Exum (if he reaches his potential) to be more of a Brandon Roy type player. SG with great handles, slashed to the basketball, finishes well with various layups, can pass, and ball-dominent.

SpacegrassParticipantCombo guard to the fullest. But the good type , size and skill to play both positions. Not a SG with PG size that we see often. I dont think he goes before #4 at Orlando unless a trade is made.

vulture711ParticipantI’ve never seen a highlight of him actually passing or running a play – he’s looking to drive or pull up
He’s a two who likes to have the ball in his hands to create rather than run off screens

mixtape2003ParticipantI think he should start off at the 2 and work at pg in different point in the game for Exum, I think Lavine should stays at the 2, don’t want to see another Austin Rivers experiment.

Andrew1984ParticipantI personally have not really viewed him as a PG to begin with, but the issue with that is that he views himself as one. I don’t think he’d want to go to a team that already has one. I guess he was in an ad of some kind in which he referred to himself as a point guard.
Philly taking him would just be weird to me because if they keep MCW, then Exum is not only adjusting to the NBA and to a new country, but he’s also adjusting to a different position. If they draft Exum with the intention of trading MCW, they lose leverage in a trade because everyone knows what they’re doing. It just isn’t a good situation.
Oddly, Marcus Smart is similar in that he is not a pass-first PG who is going to rack up assists and set the table for his team’s scorers. Smart is an explosive, tenacious, aggressive player who is going to defend the perimeter with ferocity, attack the glass, and put constant pressure on defenses. He’s certainly not your classic John Stockton or Jason Kidd type of point guard. But then again, who is anymore?
Both fit in more with the mold of Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, etc., with Smart being a little bit more of a known commodity and Exum having a little bit more of an exotic, mystery appeal.

BallinmvpParticipantIn a world where pass first points are hard to find and scoring lead guards are more common, I think he could play the pg position of that is really where he wants to play.

Lotto StudParticipantThere are only a select few teams he would run the 1 at in his range. This observation I have changes a lot when it comes to his development as a future star player everyone thinks he can be.
2-7
- Milwaukee – PG (Depending on if Knight plays off the ball)
- Philadelphia – SG
- Orlando – PG
- Utah – SG
- Boston – PG (Depending on if Bradley plays off the ball)
- L.A. – PG

Lotto StudParticipantI actually do project him more as a 2 overall, which is where I think he will thrive the best at the next level.

Lotto StudParticipantMy belief is that a SG with a high IQ of a PG, outweighs the PG with the SG scorer mentality. If a SG can be the eyes of the PG while on the floor, he can work through all spacing to know when and where to cut, and free up spots to make plays for himself as well as others.
