Antoine Wright will soon sign a one-year deal with the Kings, according to Dallas Morning News columnist Tim Cowlishaw.
Wright, 26, played in Toronto last year, starting 10 games amid 67 appearances and averaging about 20 minutes a game. He is not the shooter you are looking for: his career three-point shooting percentage is barely over 30 percent. He plays the wing positions.
He’s known primarily as a defender, although he played for one of the worst defensive teams in the league last year. He does seem to have had a positive effect on Toronto’s defense while in the game, however.

llperezi actually followed him quite a bit down the stretch last year. He is a very solid defender and always gaurded the other teams best wing player when i saw him, although he wont be making any all defensive teams. His shooting is decent, not a real stregth or weakness. Very solid player who i think will push casspi for minutes and probably be ahead of donte greene in the rotation.

SpencerIsHawesome2ParticipantPerez, I think he’s more of a stop-gap than anything. Greene is in the long-term plans so I’d be very surprised if Wright got more minutes than him. I think the Kings want Wright to be a situational/insurance type player but I doubt the plan is for him to get real minutes.

OhCanada-ParticipantWright is obviously going to play SG for Sacramento. Udrih’s minutes are going to be cutdown this upcoming Season and Reke is most definitely going to get many minutes at the 1.
With Wright you get a very good teamate. You get a hardworker and a solid defender. You get someone who has a 3 point shot, just lacks confidence and consistancy. Wright is actaully very clutch and will stick a spot up jump shot late in the 4th if Evans can penetrate and find him in the corner. Wright is an underrated player and the reason Toronto’s defence sucked is because Toronto lacked physicallity upfront and had no true C. Toronto’s woes were in the paint do to penetration from the point while Calderon got beat and trying to play Amir Johnson, Chris Bosh and Andrea Bargnani at C.
This makes Sacramento a better team, and should make the chemistry and work ethic of the players better. Not to mention now the Kings have someone to try and gaurd guys like Kobe.
