TRC1991ParticipantHe has rapidly become my least favorite player. I’m all for getting looked at if you legitimately get injured, but he leaves the court every other game with some sort of boo-boo…I hate wimps, and I hate to break it to all of you possessive Anthony Davis fans, but he’s the biggest wimp in the NBA.

LerinErinParticipantHe easily had the lowest pain tolerance of any player I ever saw. Every time he went down he grimaced, rolled around like he had been shot in the leg. Combine that with the fact that he quit on his team, missed games to see a Nelly concert make him about my second least favorite player ever. Only guy I liked less once said "practice, we talking about practice?"

Hype MachineIve done the math…
30% low pain threshold
10% always being pampered by his team, making him a diva
45% due to lack of motivation and determination to win (no playoffs…just got paid)
15% Frustration at rubbish team mates

SlickBouncePassParticipantespecially on that 45% part. He hasn’t shown much heart, communication, leadership skills. I also dislike how Chris Bosh, seasoned veteran, champion, is chatting it up with him like he’s done some winning, and then afterwards praises him and calls him "the best". Man, can we stop putting people on mantles unless they go out and ball out. Like Kevin Durant was placed on a pedestal but the guy flat out balls and gets better every year.
Lebron was put on the "best all time" pedestal, therefore I used to hate the hype that came with him, now that he’s been humbled and is gettng older and realizes he probably won’t match MJ’s rings and moved to cleveland and doesn’t have D-Wade and Bosh to play for his tema while he can get some rest….I kind of like him, plus he’s always been a floor general….
But Davis is on that pedestal, has everyone anointing him as the best in the game….meanwhile, he doesn’t show any fire or will to jsut dominate a game like a Shaq and Kobe….or AI used to. There’s no buzz…dude is coming off lame…can we stop praising him so much? People are afraid t ocriticize him so they always have to add "man he’s the best iknow but……" I do that too….live up to your talent homie.

BleedGreen808ParticipantIn the playoffs he averaged 31.5pts, 11rebs, 3blks, 2asts, 1.3stls while shooting 54% from the field and 89% from the free throw line. After last season tons of people were expecting him to take a big step this year, myself included. Maybe he hasn’t done that yet but suddenly people are down on Davis even though he is still averaging 23.6pts, 11rebs, 2.7blks, 1.6asts, and 1.3stls. I’m amazed how quickly some people are turning on Davis this early in the season. Let’s not forget he is only 22 years old, still developing as a player and person.

SlickBouncePassParticipantYou see a little dude like Steph Curry out there doing his best to defend even Lebron when he gets siwtched on him. Then you see Lebron acting like Ray Lewis on the defense, let alone Curry’s electric shooting and Lebrons’ incredible dunks and transition play.
That stuff uplifts your team.
Then you see James Harden sleeping on defense, and Carmelo picking and choosing when he wants to play hard. Thats why tehy aren’t superstars. Harden puts his teammates to sleep even on offense where next to Steph he may be the best scorer on the team. Carmelo again, dribbles you to death on offense.
So its like TMac unfortunately. Talented as he is, he needs to figure out a style of play that is going to really lift his teammates.
Unfortunately he’s got Jrue Holiday who has no fire at all emotionally, and you got Tyreke who is young.
Anthony Davis needs to stop just talking and hugging to other stars, and figure out a way to be like Tim Duncan, who is out there rubbing his teammates heads, even though he’s a quiet guy in general. Don’t alienate your tammates and just talk to the other stars, but talk to your teammates, give them the same love, that you get from other stars in the league. Make your teammates special, thats a real key to greatness.

YungmUNyParticipantI actually think the Pels have shown some good bounce-back after their abysmal start. I tend to agree with you that AD hasn’t commanded the team the way he should, but I also think New Orleans’ problems run deep. They shouldn’t have fired Monty Williams, and management gave them probably the most incompatible backcourt I’ve seen in the NBA in a while.
It’s definitely frustrating to see him always "hurt" when they struggle though… a disconcerting pattern…

MatosParticipantHe’s been encouraged to shoot more from long range this season, which is ok but you cant force that on a player. At this critical stage in his development as a player you’ve got to let him grow and dominate. You cant have him spend an off-season shooting threes.
His past couple of seasons have showed us that he has the potential to be one of the best big men in a while, but we have to give him a chance to grow. He’s 22 and is playing in a conference with some very good teams. The Pels haven’t done a good job in getting him some pieces that compliment his playing style. Tyreek & Jrue are not the right complimentary players and EG should have been gone for a while now (although his contract makes it hard to do such). He needs some pieces to take the double teams off of him. Pels had no choice in making him the highest paid player. Now they’ve got to make things happen but they shouldnt hurry and make the wrong moves. Take their time and develope a good team.

Memphis MadnessParticipantSome guys don’t need two other superstars to really win big.
There are very FEW of those type of guys.
LeBron needed TWO SUPERSTARS to get his titles.
AD needs help THEN we can objectively evaluate his game.
Hard to win without help. Even harder to win without guys who fit. I would say the same about DeMarcus Cousins. Two bigs who can flat out play BUT play in a really tough conference surrounded by just a bunch of guys (even semi-all stars) who don’t really fit.
Maybe it is the Coach Cal Curse: AD (and his teammate Tyreke Evans), Cousins, Bledsoe, John Wall, and, at times Derrick Rose. Perhaps Karl Anthony-Towns can break the curse.
Davis is also a bit of a big man tweener. Not a HUGE 7 foot center like Duncan who can play AND DEFEND both big man positions. And, Davis lacks TD’s post game. Davis can block shots, but he isn’t a Dennis Rodman type man defender. Then, it is a Small Ball League so as a power forward sometimes you need a stretch 4 who can really hit 3’s. Haven’t watched much Davis this year, but I don’t think he is a big 3 point shooter.
I would THINK that Anthony Davis would need a great point guard who could really shoot to help him run the team. But, then again, who doesn’t? PLUS, a big man who can hit the 3, block shots, score, and rebound? But, then again, who doesn’t? And, a big wing who can create, defend, hit 3’s, and score using athleticism and speed. But, then again, who doesn’t? There aren’t that many Steph Curry’s, Kristaps Porzingas’s, and Kawhi Leonard’s out there.
You could even say that they are 3 guys short of a Core Four.
Ideally, they get the first pick. Get Ben Simmons to create and run the show. Then you do Simmons/Davis pick and rolls/pick and pops all day. You can also go small then with AD at the 5 and Ben Simmons, who is a good rebounder and has some good athleticism, at the 4.
If I were them, I would think about getting some of the T Wolves guys. The poster here made a good thread about the T Wolves, basically being one guy short. They have Wiggins and KAT, but NEED a THIRD GUY. IF Rubio is on the trading block (along with Kevin Martin and Pekovic) then I think the Pelicans can use Rubio, Kevin Martin, and Pek.
The Pelicans get Ricky Rubio, Kevin Martin, Pekovic, and the 46th pick.
The T Wolves get Jru Holiday,Tyreke Evans, Ryan Anderson, and Kendrick Perkins.
Jru is more of an all-around point guard than Ricky Rubio.
Then, Tyreke would help out at the wing. He can run the point as a big, slashing point guard, or play either the 2 or the 3.
Ryan Anderson gives the T Wolves a stretch four and a guy who can play WITH KAT in some small ball lineups. K Perk gives them toughness, veteran leadership, and depth at center. He also reunites with former Celtic KG.
The new T Wolves rotation would be Holiday, Tyreke, Wiggins, KAT, and Dieng with LaVine, Shabazz, Ryan Anderson, and KG off the bench.
Pek gives the Pelicans a scorer inside. He can help take some of the scoring burden from AD.
Ricky Rubio runs the show (along with Ben Simmons). Rubio isn’t much of a shooter but should be able to get Anthony Davis some easier shots.
Kevin Martin gives the Pelicans a legit shooter at the 2. I think he would be a good backup to Eric Gordon.
New Pelicans rotation: Rubio, Eric Gordon, Ben Simmons, Anthony Davis, and Pekovic. Bench: Norris Cole, Kevin Martin, Quincy Pondexter, Dante Cunningham, Omer Asik, and Alexis Ajinca.
The T Wolves get better at the third and fourth options, while also getting a good stretch four in Ryan Anderson to bring off the bench.
The Pelicans get a point guard who can get Davis some easier shots, quicken the pace, and defend other point guards. I ALSO think that with Rubio and Ben Simmons in the fold, that Eric Gordon gets more shots. The Pelicans add another solid center, so they have THREE 7 footers that they can put around Anthony Davis. Their bench looks cleaner, too.
I thin that BOTH teams win with this trade. BUT, this is assuming that the Pelicans end up with a great pick (ideally, Ben Simmons).
These two revamped teams would look REALLY GOOD with their small ball lineups.
The Wolves can go with Holiday, Tyreke (or Lavine) at the 2, Wiggins at the 3, Ryan Anderson at the 4, and KAT at the 5.
The Pelicans boast of Ricky Rubio, Eric Gordon, Quincy Pondexter, Ben Simmons, and Anthony Davis. Gordon can score on the wing, Rubio can run the show and get guys easier shots, AD can score from inside and with some slashing, while Ben Simmons can turn a defensive rebound into a one man fast break. Q Pon isn’t flashy but he can defend some and hit a few corner 3’s. At 46, the Pelicans can look for some extra 3 and D small forward options. Maybe they go get Kyle Wiltjer to light it up from 3 point land.
ULTRA BIG athletic lineups for both teams work too:
T Wolves: Tyreke Evans, Wiggins, Shabazz Muhammed, KAT, and Dieng.
Pelicans: Rubio, Eric Gordon, Ben Simmons, Anthony Davis, and Alexis Ajinca.

GreekballinBosh wasn’t a SUPERSTAR, and Wade basically didn’t play like one when Lebron was there.
0- Posted on: Tue, 12/29/2015 - 9:07pm #1034532

SlickBouncePassParticipantthta Miami Heat team that won their first championship, basically had the advantage of resting one star while the other two were still on the court.
I really liked the role players Pat Riley put together, but that team still hadn’t established a system. It was basically taking turns watching Lebron and Wade take over a game, and the both of them are bonafide stars. Wade could get his own shot and always hit a timely shot to get his team going. And Bosh was a polished bigman that could shoot from the outside, Bosh doesn’t relaly have many flaws his game was reduced because the guards dominated those teams. He was role player that could really shoot hte rock.
They luckily beat the Spurs their second championship, because the Spurs were deeper and played within a system.
Then the third series against the Spurs, Wade got old, and they got absolutely smashed because the Spurs played their heart out.
If Lebron has learned anything, the only chip he really won was against OKC that plays less of a system than his own. I’m really happy that over the last few years its been teams like Dallas, The Spurs, and GSW that have beaten Lebron and system ball always wins. Lebron knows how to play, but he used to try to play that one on one ball when he was young. Getting smashed by the Spurs was just humbling for him. It was a beautiful thing.

OhCanada-ParticipantYou guys just set the bar too high for Davis. At the beggining of the year I stated LeBron, Curry, Westbrook, Durant, and Harden were better players than Davis in my opinion and even add George to that list. Hes young and amazing but he has a long way to go and lots of development ahead of him.
Don’t bash him though he is defenitely a top 10 player in this league and a guy that many team’s wish they could build around. The Pelicans should be very happy to have him.

SlickBouncePassParticipant"he’s young and amazing but…." let’s just stop at he’s young and is still maturing.
To the guy thta listed his palyoff stats, I can’t argue those numbers, but I dind’t see any fire or leadership even while he posted those numbers. You have to have a style of play that energizes your squad.
Like James Harden may be the best individual scorer in the game besides Steph, but Steph’s play is electric. James Harden puts his teammates to sleep. People watch Lebron do his power dunks and his own teammates feed off that energy and start to make things happen. People watch Melo dribble and dribble and its never exciting.
Davis’ face on the court, puts me to sleep. Tyreke is pretty emotionless as well. And Jrue Holiday is exactly like Davis, Jrue just puts you to sleep on the court.
Its like Boxing…styles make fights. Davis needs to lead better and excite his team. Its nice to be a do-it-all guy, like Timmy, but even Tim Duncan has a leadership style, like rubbing guys heads and stuff, and other players feed off that.

Hug your teammates first, then go chat it up with Chris Bosh midgame…because your tammates see you chat it up with other stars and then their self-esteem goes down, because I don’t think Davis is encouraging his guys. he doesn’t talk much out there to his teammates, but talks to other stars.
Timmy talks to his own players, as well as other stars.

HitsterParticipantAD may have a low pain threshold and for a man of his height he would get twinges in his joints maybe more than an average sized person. Also despite him putting up great stats his figures aren’t being transformed into wins so maybe he does feel why should he push himself further.
He is 7th on MPG in the NBA this season so I don’t think his durability can be questioned at all and the only big who has played more minutes than him is Marcus Morris.
AD is a legit candidate as the best big currently in the NBA and could clearly claim that title within a year or so. NOP have signed him to a huge extension so will want to protect their investment, the franchise will be built around AD for several years.
