herceg_bukuParticipantI dont want to seem like a downer or a hater, but the Raptors sort of have some players that will definetely get time over him. He might be deep in the bench, this was more of a marketing move than anything else in my opinion. I wish him best of luck because it would suck to be remembered as the next Kwame or Olowakandy, buthonestly all directions are pointing that way.

omphalosParticipantI don’t think he’ll be remembered in the same way as those guys for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, both teams that had him (Minny and Cleveland) are no worse off for having him – the Cavs made the Finals and got Lebron back, the T’Wolves got Towns and Wiggins.
Secondly, there wasn’t really an obvious "can’t miss" prospect that should have been taken ahead of him – Giannis and Gobert are the two standouts from that draft, but they weren’t that highly regarded at the time, so no biggie.

herceg_bukuParticipantI have heard this excuse over and over again defending him, that the draft was weak. While it wasnt the strongest it has produced some pretty solid talents so far Oladipio, Steven Adams, Michael Carter Williams, Nerleans Noel, Dennis Schroder, Mason Plumlee. Those are the names that are definetely representing themselves in the NBA, meaning this class will not be as big of a bust as people are stating, and he will be remembered with the top flops unfortunately, I as well had way higher hopes for him it sucks that it has unwinded this way.

omphalosParticipantI predict he’ll spend the season developing with Caboclo in their newly purchased D-League team and aim to get brought up next season.

BEARDED-DRAGONParticipanti think that may be best for him. he has major deficiencies in his game. he needs some time to get coached into utilizing his strengths and nullifying his weaknesses. whether that means being developed in the d-league or at the end of the bench getting garbage time, its not to late for him to turn it around. never should have been a first overall pick, now hopefully we can treat him as a third year player on a minimum contract. he’s worth that now and could develop into something worth alot more.

Detroit FanaddictParticipantSome might think I’m crazy but I still think Anthony Bennett can be a really good player. He just needs to 1) Play the 4, he would never have made a good NBA small forward but if his strength and toughness holds up I see potential as a versatile power forward with a combination of quickness, ball handling and shooting ability at the position, and 2) Forget the past: SO many things to hurt his psyche. I know it was a weak draft, but being drafted #1 puts a ton of expectations on you. Being drafted to a historically poor organization (no intentional disrespect to Cleveland fans), his injury, being played at the wrong position, traded too quickly. He was never a #1 overall pick but I can’t help but think he’d have been a better player had it not been for the circumstances.

phila9012ParticipantYeah he looked solid this summer, he should at a minimum be a 3rd bigman on a playoff team eventually possibly a a 4th or 5th start. As twolves fan I would rather have not traded for payne and kept bennett. I think there is something there. He was playing hard and was in shape this summer for once. If he develops his shooting like al harrington, I think he could have a long and somewhat succesful career similar to al harrington if he gets a chance.

OhCanada-ParticipantThis is a great signing on the marketing side and for the team by Toronto. Patrick Patterson will be a great player for Bennett to learn from and Toronto’s weakest position is at PF. Ujiri has been great for Toronto. Extremely excited for this upcoming year as a Raps fan.

nick5354ParticipantBennett will never be a good NBA player in my mind. It isn’t because I don’t think he has the skills or toughness to make it, he just has to many issues which are hard to fix. I.e, he has TINY hands and struggles to grab the ball. I have seen a player in my time who has had trouble catching and maintaing the ball in the post, key and going up for the ball. It was so frustrating to watch, so many fumbles. This is just a hard think to fix in a league where the speed is a whole new level.

BlazermannParticipantsounds like your relishing in his failure, trying to tell people why he won’t or can’t succeed in the nba , I wish him the best and hopes he carves out a role

nick5354ParticipantThat is so silly. You’re on a forum, we are all meant to not make statements or predictions about whether a player will surprise, disappoint etc.
That is what makes discussion good.
I present a statement or prediction that he will not be good to start a discussion and present a point of view, not to relish in someone’s failures. That is absurd.
Also, what makes discussion good is views on players and making predictions. I dislike the posters more who don’t make any predictions or facilitate the conversation.
