lisergxParticipantI have been waiting for this guy to come to the Jazz for awhile and I think he could solve our big man off the bench problem, and we can then use our picks toward a point guard and a wing scorer. When he was drafted I kept hearing he has similarities to Pau Gasol, which I doubt. Unfortunately he signed a 3 year deal in 2012 with Barcelona, is he ever gonna come to the league?!

SwatLakeCityParticipantI think Tomic is more similar to Yi Yianlian than Pau Gasol. And no, I don’t think he will ever come over. The Jazz should focus on getting a PG and big man who can shoot the 3 like Olynyk. Mason Plumlee is also a possibility but I like Olynyk more.

pohani komaracParticipantAnte Tomic does not shoot 3’s. he scores playing with back to basket, p’n’r and shootin from midrange. pretty much most coplete ofensive pacage you can find this days from 7’2 players
but for NBA he lacks of strenght and toughnes, even tough ofensivly he would have no problem scoring in NBA. It’s his defense that is bad even in eurolegue
tough, recently stated that he does not plan playing in NBA. Said he likes in Barcelona and wannts to stay there

slepchorParticipantSoooo, I’ve been watching Tomic for years, I’ve attended some of his games, with Barcelona, and seen him play in Eurobasket. The thing with him is that he is soft. He can’t push other big men, simply put. Sure he weighs around 240 (max) but this is good for a 6’10 PF, and he is 7’2. He has the best handles for a center in Europe, hands down. He is lethal from almost everywhere inside the 3-point line. His hook shots can kill you. But he is not nearly as athletic as Yi, and he can’t play center. He has a great touch, and I really want him in my team, but it can only work when you have kind of an ”opposite”, to share playing time and balnce the lack of strength down low. Barcelona did that with Nate Jawai. He could play in Utah, sure, but is Kanter ready for a starting role? If not (assuming Big Al is gone) get ready for some quality minutes and scoring, but also be prepared to get backed down in the low post by pretty much every NBA big. Or you can go get Stanko Barac, who has almost the same game and weighs 30 pounds more. Sure he can’t dribble like a guard and is not as quick, but I would choose him among the 2. He is more like a Timofey Mozgov that actually has an offensive game. Anyway..

European BasketballerParticipantBarac is huge and highly skilled but he is NOTHING like Mozgov. GET REAL. Mozgov is mobile and athletic for his size.
Barac is SUPER STIFF.
SUPER SUPER SUPER STIFF.

European BasketballerParticipantFirst off, Tomic weighs 120 kilos which is like 265 pounds.
Second, he is nothing remotely similar to Yi as a player, and not much at all like Pau Gasol either.
I would say correct NBA comparison would be 80s Kareem, of course without shooting the sky hook all game.

ProudGrandpaParticipant“Your comparisons are stupid! He’s actually like Kareem! (Without the skyhook, of course, let’s not get crazy)”
Ohhh, EuroBaller, you’re so bad at respectful disagreement

scliddiardParticipantHas anyone heard anything about whether or not Tomic would make the move to the NBA, the Jazz could use him but if doesn’t want to come over, we need to forget about him and move forward without him.

European BasketballerParticipantHe has said over and over he has no intention or desire to play in the US. There is nothing strange about it. It’s by far the opinion of most top European players today. Very few of the good European players have interest in playing in the NBA anymore.

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantI’m sure Tomic is just exactly like Kareem minus the skyhook… give me a firetruckiing break.

Thanks so much for being a rude, ignorant, stupid, xenophobic, JERK.

A Lil EnglishParticipantI only watched him a handful of times this past season but I like him a lot. My first thought was when is going to be in the NBA,
Seems to have a good IQ and I’m pleased he made the All-Euroleague team. People should try watching more instead of trying to go off hearsay.
I definitely think he has similarities to Pau Gasol though, mainly for the good passing ability for a big man.
Maybe he is happy being a star in Europe – I’m not sure why the Jazz need him with their frontcourt depth?!

PurpleMonkeyDishwasherParticipantSo 80’s Kareem would be more correct? Tomic could never be more than a stain on Kareem shorts.

King CaluchaParticipantHe had 8 and 5 in 26 minutes, while getting fouled out. I think he can do much better than that.
By the way, Mirotic had a good game… sinking a couple of clutch 3’s.

TheLastWordParticipantTomic has shown virtually zero interest in the NBA. C’mon the guy is on his third contract now.

safdParticipantFriday at 10p.m. in Spain (4p.m. in D.C??) will be played the 3rd match of ACB finals
If isnt streamed in USA and u want to watch, try here http://www.rtve.es/noticias/directo-la-1/
BTW Mirotic didnt play well as some users had said. He was missing the whole game, but with some minutes to finish the game he scored an incredible 3pt shoot and another field goal. Then he was fouled out.
And Tomic played a decent match offensively and in defence he’s always very important!!! He isnt the soft player he was in Madrid last year, but IMO still being soft for NBA … anyway he can do better. I love his hooks!!Sorry for my English level, sucks xd
P.S.: VISCA BARÇA!!!!
