Derozen Bayless could be a formidable backcourt

Some other notes, had 26 and 8 with 0 TO against the bulls nd rose, was big in the clutch in their win over Orl, seems to play nice with the team

There are a ton of guys who can put up nice stats with good playing time.  Mike James put up 20pts,6ast and 3rbs for a full season in Toronto but that doesn’t mean he’s who you want to be one of your "building blocks".  Bayless is improving but Irving as a rookie will be a better player from day one…What does that tell you about Bayless?  I went to search for a list of this seasons NBA PG’s http://www.nbastuffer.com/2010-2011_NBA_Regular_Season_Player_Stats.html and there is atleast 30 pg’s I’d prefer to run my team before even considering Bayless.  Seriously… checkout the list.  Perhaps with continued playing time Bayless somehow evolves into the type of PG I’d want to help my team challenge for a championship with but he’s not even close right now… and frankly, I don’t see it happening in the future.

 Well it’s true that Bayless has a long way to go but, him and Mike James are in different worlds athletically.

Bayless is one of the most talented players in the league hands down.  He can be a very good player….somewhat like when Dale Ellis sat on the bench in Dallas but when he got with the right team in the Supersonics, he exploded.  Another case in point, Jody Meeks was hard pressed to make a squad when he entered the league but he has become an important player for Doug Collins, whereas he probably would be an the end of the bench on other teams.  All of these guys have talent or they wouldnt be in the league, but sometimes its the situation they are placed in.  In the NBA, ability is not necessarily enough particularly when you dont have a lot of facets to your game…you have to play for the right team in the right system for the right coach.  Bayless is more of a scorer so he has to fit in somewhere that needs him to do that, Toronto is a much better team for him than Portland and N.O. were.

With his elivated play during this time, it could make for some interesting deals around the draft if they decide they want him as the point guard for the future.

 I loved Bayless in HS and I think he can still make something in this league.  I do think that he needs to play with a SG that is a passer so thay Bayless can score.  That is what he is really good at.  Give hime the time and he can be a very good, exciting PG.  Also, so what if he isn’t a championship PG..  Look around the league at the guys who have won championships.  There aren’t many PGs who do it.  CP3, DWill, JKidd, SNash.  None of those guys have done it.. Guess who has..  DFisher, TParker, RRondo, CBillups…  Not very many but tons of great PGs out there.

If Kyrie is on the board do you take him? Then what do you do with Bayless cause its obvious he thrives on starting and Calderon is gonna be tough to move anyway.

Do you take Kyrie and use Bayless late season momentium as trade bait to upgrade another area or pass on him in order to draft a Barnes/Kanter/Jones/Willimas to address other weakness and gibe the reigns to Bayless next season.

Mike James was killing it that year, making big shot after big shot, and playing with a ton of confidence.

I dont know what you guys are watching when you veiw these last Raptors games, but I know I see a 22 year old PG who is putting together a body of work. Now noone can argue the fact that he is one of the most talented players in the league, and also one of the most athletic PG’s in the game, what everyone has been waiting for is that maturity. The type of players that are considered the best in the league give great efforts on a night to night basis, and if he is ever going to be on par with Westbrook and Rose he will have to do that.

I knew it would be a matter of time before everyone started to believe & see what I seen in him. It takes time, things were not gonna happen over night with him especially when hewasn’t being played properly in Portland.
