I think alot of us as of RIGHT NOW can agree that Jabari Parker is clearly the better player of the two and honestly should be the #1 pick, when they matched up against each other, Parker’s skill level and poise just made me like him that much more, I give credit to Wiggins as he did his part as well and is an athletic freak, and will be good in the future if he works hard on his game.

But after watching Parker last night, I don’t see how some still think Wiggins is better as of now, Parker’s performance last night did it for me, he had 6 blocks! And on one of the blocks he then grabbed the ball dribbled coast to coast while weaving thru traffic and finished with a monster jam, I said no way in hell right now is Andrew Wiggins better than this guy, IDC how high he jumps, Parker isn’t an ELITE athlete but he is a great one, combined with his skill level and poise I just dont see how anyone can choose Wiggins.

But I am a fan of Wiggins and I will remind the Wiggins haters ONE reason why I feel he will go #1 even tho I dont agree with it, it’s because Wiggins is still supposed to be in HS, his potential is off the charts, for him to be doing what he’s doing in college right now as a supposed to be senior in HS is crazy.

I like both players, and while I feel Jabari Parker is the best NBA prospect, I wouldn’t be mad if Wiggins went #1, and deep down I feel that’s going to happen no matter how the season plays out, because he’s supposed to be in HS right now.

Wiggins isn’t supposed to be in HS.  2013 was his original class.

True but his class was originally 2014 before he decided to move up a grade he could have just stayed back if he wanted to, which would have gave him an extra full year to possibly hone his skill level and get stronger.

No, he was held back a yr and eventually reclassified into his original class.  He could’ve stayed back a yr, but then he’d be seen as an "old" senior schooling younger kids a la OJ Mayo.  He dominated HS on his athletic ability alone.  The same level of competition for another yr would not have forced him into honing his skills. Higher level of competition would have, so he made the right move.

I think every agrees that Parker is the better play right now, what exactly are you trying to argue with this post? Not all GM’s draft the better college player #1, guys with more upside usually go #1. If what your implying is the case than guys like Morrison and Reddick would of went #1 as they were better college players than their counter-parts.

No everyone does not agree with Parker being better than Wiggins right now, some people don’t even believe Parker is better than Randle, some have Parker as the 3rd best prospect have you seen the forums on here?

I think people are confusing the best player versus who goes #1 in the draft.  They are definitely not the same thing.  As we have seen for years who goes #1 overall depends partially on the needs of the team picking.  Think the Cavs might have taken Mclemore last summer versus Bennett but could not because they took Waiters the year before?

Lets just enjoy these two play.  They are fun to watch and we have a LONG way to go to the draft.

^ And that’s why the Cavs suck, for reasons like that. No reason not to draft McLemore, Waiters isn’t a good enough player to not draft someone at the same position.

Do we really need to have a thread about this guys everyday? Why don’t we get an "Official Wiggins/Randle/Parker thread"? It’s getting a bit annoying.

Here is how everyone should look at this Parker Vs Wiggins Debate.

    Remember 2007!!

Kevin Durant putting up huge numbers

Greg Oden putting up good numbers but nothing that makes your jaw drop Ala Kevin Durant.

The potential was with both players but Oden had the sex appeal of Defensive Center with huge potential.

While Durant still had the sex appeal but thought he would get banged up

Turn this into Wiggins and Parker

Parker is the scorer putting up huge numbers but people are afraid of who he can guard in the NBA

Wiggins has the sex appeal of developing into another Kobe.  Defensive stopper, takes on the challenges.  still a beautiful stroke but needs work and refinement Ala Oden.

Just something to sip on in the mean time.

Oh well, the difference is that Oden didn’t lack the talent or the work ethic to become a great player. He was just so plagued with injuries that he couldn’t develop and now his body is so hurt and lost athleticism.

that argument holds little weight as if Oden didn’t get hurt he might have been just as good as Durant is now.

Thats not what I’m saying. Im talking about if Durant and Oden where is college right now and about to come out it is the same type of debate that is being brought up about Wiggins and Parker.

We have no idea what Wiggins work ethic is like.  Why is everyone pointing this out.  This confuses me.  In the words of Kobe…You wasnt with him shooting in the gym!!!

The kid requested and disobeyed Self during the Duke game and guarded Parker because he was pissed Self didnt trust him with foul trouble.  read the articles.  Self explains it, Sports center explained.

If Jabari Parker were built like LeBron James or Paul George then he would be a lock for the top pick.

Some think that Parker looks a bit doughy.  If he gains muscle and works on his explosion then he should be the top pick.  He needs to slim down AND gain muscle mass at the same time.

Jabari Parker has the complete package.  If he maximizes his time in the gym then he should be the top pick.

     Memphis Madness,

There is a thing called Genetics. That is as athletic as you are going to see from Parker.

People are built with certain genetic codes that allow them to onyl reach a certain level of fitness performance.  One can not simply just ohh improve explosiveness. Doing plyometrics..wont do anything.  He plays Basketball 24/7 every motion you see in basketball is plyometrics.

This is why Lebron James hasn’t improved his "Explosiveness" since he entered the league.

GENETICS MEMPHIS! Read about it! Learn it, or you sound weird when you refer to every prospect as saying he needs to work on his explosiveness

You can improve your explosiveness by shedding excess and replacing fat with muscle. If Jabari was already trim and ripped you’d have a case.  Jabari still has a little bit of baby fat to shed so he does have some slight room for improvement.  He’s plenty athletic as is, but to me he looked even more athletic before the foot injury and put on all that weight. The summer before and during his junior he looked in even better shape and more explosive.  He’ll likely never be body beautiful or look shredded because that’s just not his body type, but he still has room to grow as an athlete.

its all risk reward jabari and randle are the safer picks no one is going to say that gm is crazy for picking either. They are more polished more nba ready. the scary part about that is, if wiggins reaches his potential becomes good shooter, good ball handler, and fully develops his game and body you made wrong decision. thats the real question do you play safe or go for it. because if you are the gm that picks other guy and wiggins becomes a multi title winning generational player, its like picking carmelo over lebron. even as good as carmelo is lebron is the one.

Yea, Tim49461 hit the nail on the head, it all boils down to genetics, as you said Parker needs to hit the gym and gain more muscle and shed fat, for all we know he could be as strong as an ox already, everyone has different bodytypes.

Take Shelvin Mack who is 6’1 210 pounds and Eric Bledsoe who is 6’1 195, Mack is heavier and possibly stronger(Before you disagree mack repped 185 17 times at the combine, while Bledsoe only repped it 9 times), but Bledsoe body looks 10x better and Bledsoe looks bigger because he is leaner(More muscle definition), everyone will not look the same, but looking strong and being strong is 2 different stories.

I said from the start Randle and Parker would have better numbers than Wiggins.  Always thought Wiggins was a 16 and 7 guy in college while Parker and Randle would have big numbers.  I’m still taking Wiggins #1. I’m not jumping off the bandwagon because Kansas runs an offense and doesn’t utilize Wiggins in the way Duke and Kentucky showcase Parker and Randle. I think all 3 are studs and future multiple all stars but I think Wiggins can be better than the other 2. And in terms of team, I think clearly Kansas is the best and putting Andrew on the block and running offense like a normal team will benefit Wiggins. He’s still learning the game.

All I know is that I got intense amount of negs for saying stuff that is being talked about in respect of the top 3 prospects.

Wiggins defense right now puts him ahead of Jabari Parker. I think he projects as a top SG defender in the NBA, almost guaranteed. At 6’7 with huge wingspan and extreme athleticism, not just a runner/ jumper, the dude is like a feather off his feet which gives him great lateral quickness, he will be able to lock up all these combo guards of the NBA.

… And i liked Jabari here more than most people, I said I wouldn’t be surprised if he went #1 preseason and got negged. He is and always has been clear cut better than Julius Randle, Marcus Smart, Dante Exum, Embiid, and whoever these professional scouts had in front of him. Jabari does not go past 2.

this word is thrown around a lot in terms of wiggins but – what exactly makes him have more "potential" than parker? just because he’s a better athlete? Parker’s game is so smooth and near complete already, I have no doubts he could play in an NBA game today and score at least 15 on good percentages and peripheral stats.

so again – why does Wiggins have more potential?

Look at what he is doing already without Parker’s skill. 17 ppg 6 rpg 1.7 apg on 55% shooting from the floor with excellent defense. Sometimes people forget that those are ridiculously good numbers, especially for a freshman for a top five team. He’s only scratching the surface of what he can do and he is already producing at an extremely high level, and is doing most of it within the flow of the offense. Imagine what he can do with a more refined handle and a more consistent jump shot.
