Rip255I just made a Simmons thread. Couldnt you have just asked this question there. The answer is obviously the 3x National champ and consensus NPOY.

omphalosParticipantWiggins. Was a lockdown defender in HS. Had much better scoring touch.
Dude dropped a huge game just because someone was talking smack about his dad.
I like Simmons, but Wiggins was phenomenal in HS and played against very talented players like Parker, Randle and others.

he_gets_bucketsParticipantI think Wiggins is a much superior athlete, though I think at Ben is a much more refined offensive player at this stage then Wiggins was at this point. I think shooting is pretty close, they both have/had good mechanics just need(ed) reps. Ballhandling and court vision are definitely in Simmons’ favor, he is clearly a point forward at this stage of his career and passes the ball as well as sees the court extremely well for a guy his size. Ben looks a lot more chiseled and I think he is stronger than Wiggins at the same stage, though Wiggins was a freak of nature athlete in terms of both lateral and vertical quickness. Wiggins has the best second jump I’ve ever seen, can get max vert on his second jump straight after landing its ridiculous for a guy with his kind of bounce. I think Ben’s body, both his size and strength, give him the advantage on the boards.
Prospect wise, I think Ben is in the same realm, maybe a notch below Wiggins at the same stage. Wiggins was just such a phenomenal athlete, and didn’t need to be taught to go after it on defense he was already a dog on that end, he just oozed potential. Not to mention unlike a lot of guys who fit that description, his shot wasn’t broken. Ben is a good athlete, but he isn’t the otherworldy athlete Wiggins was. He is much more refined as a prospect however, and he can make his teammates better in ways that Wiggins to this day can’t quite match. I don’t think Ben projects to be much more than an average defender at college and the pro’s and I think that is what makes Wiggins a better prospect, as Andrew has that amazing two way potential. Ben is still a fantastic prospect and a sure fire top 5 pick in next years draft bar injury though, and I expect big numbers going into LSU with him and Blakeney.

215NGBParticipantIn this comparison, I would have to give the slight edge to simmons. The way he is able to dominate the top teams in the country with his perimeter and post skills makes him more dominant. However Andrew Wiggins reclassified to leave college a year early. It would have been interesting to see Wiggins in his true senior year to see how dominant he really could’ve been at the high school level. Not taking anything away from his already amazing career. Just wanted people to realize that.

dbeal21ParticipantBefore Wiggins went to Kansas I watched all of his highlights, before simmons is going to LSU ive watched most of his highlights as well. Overall both looked like cant miss prospects. But I give a decent edge to Wiggins, when I first watched his hs highlights my jaw was on the floor, Im normally very skeptical on hs highlights but after watching all of Wiggins I was enamored and instantly said this guy is going to be an amazing player. Fast forward a few years and my wolves traded for him. PRAISE JESUS. I love Wiggins so im biased. But I do say My jaw has dropped to the floor almost as much with simmons, he seems stronger for sure, wiggins just looked like a better athlete with more moves. But man they both will be good! imagine if my wolves somehow win the lottery next year. Maybe than everyone here (MN) will say F hockey we got the best NBA team around!
