jaysmith1987ParticipantIf your picking 2nd pick and in this draft and you pass on Andre Drummond you might
Kicking yourself in the but 3 yrs down the road. All his measurements athletic testing say Dwight howard or shaq. Hes even bigger than howard coming in. Hes under 8 percent body fat at 272 and he lost 20 to get there. He looks in great shape and if he played the season at 292 and was still that athletic this could be a guy in a few years who dominates physically ala shaq lebron etc. Everyone looks at college first years for big men but i thought it was common knowledge it takes big men longer to develop. Not to mention Drummond is essentially a guy coming straight out of high school because he reclassified last minute. If his floor is Deandre Jordan you have a shotblocking rebounding anchor for next decade. As far as his season last year were knocking him for not picking the right college. Uconn was the worst fit they had shot happy guards with nba aspirations and a part time coach he should have went somewhere were he would have been number one option. I state again this guy is going to be something wether its next year or 5yrs from now this guy is gonna be something.0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/11/2012 - 5:07pm #680009

bloodshyParticipantIf my team were picking second, the player that excites me the most is definitely Drummond. But then I think about the many promising, but raw bigs who fail to ever develop. My mind is not made up on who should be #2.

jaysmith1987ParticipantThe only past big who compares to him athletically that has failed in the past is greg oden and we know injuries derailed his career and even though he was half strength he still was able to dominate in limited mins. Drummond is that kind of athete and hes younger without injury problems. There have been bigs with tremendous athleticism that
Lacked strength or had small hands but to thi point drummonds weakness is his season at uconn. He averaged ten and 7 in about 24mins a game on no more than 7 shots a game. Lets not mention 2.7 blcks. If derrick Favors can go number 2 then drummond is a sure shot.0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/11/2012 - 7:04pm #680071

rhamnlacsonParticipantwe all know drummond is one of those players that with the right situiation can excel in the league right away the site said in one of its reviews on drummond that he has more potential to be a better player than anthony davis so with that being said drummond is a physical speciment and a trumendous athelete being the no 2 pick would give him alot of exxpectations as a franchise player so i think he should really play for either the wizards, sacramento, or the suns if he drops that low(which i dont think so) drummond has a high floor and a even higher ceiling maybe even higher than anthony davis his only draw back is that he is to unpolished as an offensive player but with that being said he is a high risk high reward type of player

Sewok15ParticipantDrummond does not appear like he will be much of an offensive weapon for quite a while but his defensive potential alone warrants definite consideration at #2. The bobcats might look at it one of two ways. They can afford to take a risk because they are still a while away from contending or the opposite and can’t afford to take that risk. It will be very interesting to see how the Drummond draft deal works out. He is the type of guy that teams take risks and move up to get.

thparadoxParticipantDrummond has some scary parts of his profile. He really didn’t rebound well for a guy of his athleticism. He shot under 30% from the FT line. His moments of intensity on the court were few and far between.
I still think it’s a risk worth taking with the #2 pick. However, I think Amare and Dwight would have put up much better stats than Drummond as a freshman. Compare Drummond to Oden and you wonder why there’s a big difference in results.
Drummond has catching up to do, but he can do it. The risk is whether he’ll do the work to improve, and how quickly he does it. (if it takes him 6 years, that’s no good for the team drafting him)

TheLastWordParticipantHe’s not that big, about 6’11 in normal playing shoes. Small hands, no range outside of 3 feet. A GM will have to wait 4 years to see if their gamble pays off or not. Do most GM’s have 4 years of job security?

jaycee24ParticipantI just wonder what his freshman season would of looked like if he went to say kentucky or Memphis or UNC teams that get up and go I really think his potential would of been highlighted (mobility, size, strength, athleticism) but instead he came in UCONN cold to the college game and his feel for the game or lack there of got exploited. i don’t know if his passion for the game isnt there it just more or less appeared that way because he was lost on the court much of the time. If he can join a squad with an established scorer and/or point then he can really blossom at his own pace. throw him into Charlotte and his development will be destroyed

omphalosParticipantEven if he has "small hands", he has good hands, he’s great at catching passes and has a brilliant handle for a C, so the size of his hands aren’t really an issue. The 7’6" wingspan makes up for his 6’11 height not being "that big", but it’s more his freakish mobility that will allow him to thrive.
I really think Drummond will be a pick and roll nightmare in the same way as Amare if he is paired with the right PG. He’s got such amazing acceleration and explosiveness that he’s tailor-made to play the pick and roll, I think that’s the sort of role he’ll thrive in.

sheltwon3ParticipantI am thinking unless Drummonds goes 1 or 2 and he is probably not going 1, he will be a steal. He has all this athletic ability and size and for what people say his basketball IQ is decent. They only knock on his motor. Unless he gets injured, I can’t see how he is not a better player than DeAndre Jordan who was worth 10 million and has been solid on D with a little bit of O. I know with big men, their is alway some sort of risk. Would we still think Shaq was awesome if he got hurt for his first 4 or so years and was average the rest of his career. We know he dominated but Shaq could have easily been a side note because of other factors.
I think if you are looking for him to be something he is not, it is a gamble but if you are expected him to be a athletic big man who can run the floor and block some shots. He may also wind up being a bigger and taller Ibaka. Ibaka does not have a back to basket game right now but he can finish in the paint due to his athleticism and he he worked on his jumper to where he has a decent 15 to 18 footer.

PulseGlazerParticipantWe’ve never seen a guy with this physical potential fail besides Oden? That’s a joke right? Kwame and Eddy Curry want a talk with you otherwise. Darko, Sam Bowie, Olowokandi… come on. It’s easy to look back and say they weren’t as impressive, but all were supposed superstars based on physical tools.

joecheck88ParticipantDrummond mixes size, speed, strength, and leaping ability better than all of the players just mentioned. At worst, in my mind, Drummond is a tyson Chandler like player. His past 2 years were help a team win a championship and win DPOY on a horrible defensive team. Hell, I think Drummond will be a better defender than Davis.
