Allen_Iverson_3ParticipantWho do you think are candidates to be amnestied by each team next season? And ultimately, who do you think will be "the chosen one"? To do so, we must not assume that their will be trades involving these players. Of course you can say "None" for some teams (example: the Celtics).

-Contracts per team (not sure if it is accurately updated): Atlanta Hawks – NBA Team Contracts – Rotoworld.com

Sotos14ParticipantNY also used it on Billups
AS for potential amnesty…
Det – Villanueva
Chi – Boozer
Mia – Mike Miller
Dal – Hayward
Also I dont see why Perkins is a candidate since okc would still be on the books to pay him and they are not concerned with salary cap issues since they have all the players they need in house. If it is to avoid luxury tax it still wouldnt make sense bc then they would have to go sign another C whihc would not save them much money in the end

Allen_Iverson_3ParticipantAtlanta- Potential candidates: MarvinWilliams and Joe Johnson. Though both make important money, for both players it’s a bit of a stretch considering that Johnson put up good numbers this year but Williams is owed $8,3 million next season and only produces 10 points and 5 rebounds per game. So if they draft a SF I could see Williams being amnestied but it’s kind of a stretch though. Verdict: Do nothing
Boston-None, they are losing so many players.
Brooklyn Nets- Potential candidate: Johan Petro. Making $ 3.5 million for close to no production but it’s no sure thing at all as he is hitting free agency in 2013 so his expiring contract could be worth something at the next trade deadline. Verdict: Do nothing
Charlotte-Potential Candidates: Corey Maggette or DeSagana Diop. Tyrus Thomas is one of the few Bobcats who has some trade value so it will not be him. It’s no sure thing however as these players are hitting free agency in 2013 so their expiring contracts could be worth something at the next trade deadline + the Bobcats have enough cap space, which will not be used because of their lack of attractiveness. Verdict: Trade Maggette, no amnesty.
Chicago-Potential Candidate: Carlos Boozer. This one really depends on his production: if he continues to contribute like he did in the second part of the season then he’ll stay, else he might be amnestied. Verdict: I think he will stay unless he becomes useless.
Cleveland-Potential Candidate: Luke Walton. Verdict: Amnestied (can’t they still do it this year?)
Dallas-Potential Candidates:Brendan Haywood and Shawn Marion. I don’t see Marion being amnestied, he’s a complete player the Mavs could rely on. Haywood could be amnestied if Mahinmi steps up, which he has started to do this season. Verdict: Haywood amnestied.
Denver-Potential Candidates: Chris Andersen and Al Harrington. I don’t see the Nuggets changing their roster that much, they should look to stay in the continuity of things. Verdict: Do nothing.
Detroit- It has to be Charlie Villanueva and that’s as close of a sure thing as it gets.
Golden State-Potential Candidates: Richard Jefferson and Andris Biedrins. To me one of these two will be amnestied, but it depends on which one plays worse and what the Warriors do in the draft. Verdict: It will be one of these two but I can’t choose. I’d say Jefferson but it could be Biedrins too as I think Tyler will develop as a frontcourt presence sooner rather than later and because I doubt that the Warriors will be able to get MKG or Barnes in this draft.
Houston-Potential Candidates: I don’t see any.
Indiana- I think that like the Nuggets the Pacers enjoy their depth and will stay put.
LA Clippers-The Clippers don’t have any depth so I don’t see them amnestying someone right now.
LA Lakers-Potential Candidate: Metta World Peace/Ron Artest. He didn’t help his cause with his aggression on Harden and had a horrible season. Verdict: If he doesn’t bounce back, he’ll be amnestied.
Memphis-Potential Candidate: None.
Miami-I don’t see them amnestying someone as each player seems to have his role in this team (talking about Anthony and Miller).
Milwaukee-Potential candidate: if he can’t keep it up, Drew Gooden (he was rumored to be amnestied this season). Verdict: Do nothing
Minnesota-Potential Candidates: Darko Milicic and Brad Miller. I think Miller’s advantage is that he has an expiring contract next year. Anyway, both of these players are not needed anymore. Verdict: Amnesty Darko.
New Orleans-Potential Candidate: Emeka Okafor. That is only if they don’t count on him anymore or if they are in the race to sign top free agents in 2013. Verdict: Do nothing.
New York-Potential Candidate: None.
OKC-Potential Candidate: Kendrick Perkins. That is ONLY if OKC needs desperately to resign Harden and Ibaka and do not have enough money. Verdict:: Do nothing.
Orlando -Potential Candidate: Hedo Turkoglu. It’s a pretty sure thing.Verdict: Amnestied.
Philadelphia-Potential Candidate: Elton Brand. Could see this coming this season if they draft a PF ready to take over. Other than that, not worth it next season as he’ll be an expiring contract. Verdict: I think he will be amnestied but it’s 51/49.
Phoenix-Josh Childress has to be amnestied, no question about that.
Portland-Potential candidate: Wes Matthews. This is only if they draft a SG (Lamb or Beal) at 6 AND if the re-signing of Batum requires a lot of money. Verdict: Do nothing.
Sacramento-Potential Candidates: John Salmons, Travis Outlaw, Chuck Hayes, Francisco Garcia. Outlaw’s contract is not enormous and Garcia is under guaranteed contract only through next year, so Salmons and Hayes are the best fit candidates. Verdict: This really depends on who they draft: if it’s a SF it’s Salmons whereas if it’s T-Rob it’s Hayes. I believe that it will be Salmons.
San Antonio-Potential Candidate: Stephen Jackson. The only reason I’d see this happening is if the Spurs need money to re-sign key free agents such as Danny Green or Tim Duncan. Verdict: Do nothing
Toronto-Potential Candidates: Amir Johnson and Linas Kleiza. The team’s frontcourt will be furnished next season with Valanciunas Bargnani and Ed Davis so Johnson at $ 6 million figures to be too costly for a 4th big man though his energy is well-seen. Verdict: Amnesty Johnson
Utah-Potential Candidate: Raja Bell. I really don’t see Utah amnestying Harris as his age and expiring contract should make him a valuable trade asset. As for Bell, he doesn’t cost that much so could be kept. Verdict: Do nothing.
Washington-Rashard Lewis will be amnestied, no question about that. It’s as if this clause was created by the NBA for him.0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/19/2012 - 5:44am #683757

Allen_Iverson_3ParticipantI’m also talking about the 2012-2013 season guys!

avavalisParticipantI’m pretty sure the wolves won’t amnesty the League’s premier big man and deserving MVP!
0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/19/2012 - 6:18am #683771

kobyzParticipantElton Brand, although he had good season, cause Phili could use the cap space to make a big free agency move and leave the PF position to Thaddeus Young and the promise Lavoy Allen!
