I have never thought of this comparison before, but it just clicked after i heard the Jamison trade. I think that Aminu is basically a mirror image of Jamison when he was coming out of UNC. Aminu is a good scorer, great rebounder, solid athleticism, and a developing outside game with good form on his J. I have never read a scouting report on Jamison when he was at UNC but from watching game film the two are nearly identical! agree or disagree?

They are identical in terms of size/length, but Jamison has a more polished perimeter game. Aminu reminds me of Josh Smith more than anybody.

True, but Jamison is also 12 years older than Aminu, thats pleanty of time to polish your perimeter game. I think that by about age 25 Aminu will be exactly what Jamison has been for years in this league

I know these two players have a different game, and no player is an exact replica of another but sometimes when I watch Aminu I think Elton Brand mainly because the way he rebounds the ball. Both players are only about 6’8” with enormous wingspans and huge hands. Aminu isn’t as much of a bruiser as Brand, but they way he rebounds the ball and uses his wingspan to his advantage draws some comparisons to Elton.

I really like the Jamison comparison. People tend to forget that when Jamison first came into the league, HE WAS RAW. Outside game was alright, but did not have the dribble drive game he has today. Aminu has that same sort of midrange, outside game. And like Jamison, Al Farooq has to eventually make a choice: Put on weight to play the 4 (like jamison did) or stay on the wing at the 3. personally, even after watching only maybe like 6 or 7 games with Aminu, I think his position is at the 3 (when he comes into the league) because he doesn’t need to get beat up in the post everyday. Then, as he puts on weight (and post D skills), slide to the 4.

Wasnt Jamison a “back to the basket” type player at UNC?? Maybe Im wrong but I thought he liked the little hook and the turn and fade.. IDK…

jamison wasnt nearly good as player as he is now when he came to league… aminu has a tons od potential, and if he develop he can end up being better than jamison or he could end up being bust

I just remember Jamison from his Golden State days, when he was a great shooter. That’s when I 1st had seen him play. Jamison and Aminu have that same ability to make those awkward shots though and they are about the same size/length. I can definitely see the comparison. I just see more Josh Smith.

Thank you tli, people tend to forget that when I say Jamison coming out of college, that is a completely different player than the guy he has evolved into now. Jamison definitely had a very raw outside game coming out of NC, and over the last 10 or so years has improved it to become what he is now.

jamison was pretty good when he got to the leauge. didnt get alot of minutes but his jumper and handles got much better. not sure if aminu reminds me of him because jamison was more dominate in college and much ore unguardable. aminu reminds me alot of deng because he already can handle the ball.
