ballislyfe25Participantvia Frank Isola of the NY Daily News:
Says Mavs, Spurs, and Warriors are amongst suitors. Have also heard Clippers. He will be a nice pick up for a contender but can he really be a guy to swing the needle in a team’s favor?

r377ParticipantHe was a liability on defense even before he got old and injured. He won’t see any more than 15 mins per night with a contender making him a complete non factor in the playoffs…..
The clips would be better off going after luc mba-a-moute.

doubledribblerParticipantHe’s coming off the bench. Any team going after him knows his limitations. He still brings some offense and a little bit of rebounding. He’s already doing around 24 mins a game this year. Even if he goes down to 15 mins that is probably great for everyone involved. Keeps him fresh and energized and makes him more impactful in the minutes he plays. You could do a lot worse for a big that still has offensive skill, isn’t going to mess with chemistry, and on a minimum deal for only the remainder of the season. You can look at a team like the Clippers that are looking at guys like Spencer Hawes, Big Baby, and Udoh. When the Mavs won their championship Carlisle was mixing and matching Brian Cardinal, Peja and Brendan Haywood before he got hurt. His 15 minutes might not win you a game, but they might be the difference in keeping your team in the game when a starter needs a break or the 2nd team needs someone to lean on for some offense.

ExumInfernoParticipantIf he wants to win, Spurs seem the safe pick. They have the results, and a history of being able to add players. Old Glenn Robinson, Antonio McDyess and others have fit right in. But did the Suns and Spurs have some angry playoff games in the past, maybe he still remembers some hard fouls and suspensions.
Warriors have the great record this season, but they already have a minutes problem up front so he could be good or bad for them. If Bogut gets injured again, he would be great. But D Green, Lee and Speights all want to play so he may not be the right fit. The Warriors would improve though, even by keeping him away from other contenders.
Mavs have seemed like the best spot, as they lost a backup center/forward when B Wright was traded. Rondo passing to him would seem to work well. Amare can play next to Dirk or Chandler when he comes off the bench. Dallas always have money to spend.
Clippers would work too, especially for a few weeks with Griffin out.
Amare’s per-minute numbers and percentages are quite good. So as a bench player for a contender he should be good. The problem for fans is that they have been watching him play for $100million and he hasn’t been on the court all the time and his numbers haven’t been close to the money being paid.

sitlbitoParticipantThe only team who would need him might be the avs, they lack a big body inside no matter who it is. But other than that,he’s not a good defender, not a great rebounder and can’t play more than 15 minutes,if he actually can play and is not injured. Woulnd’t be surprised to see the Clippers make that mistake.

HitsterParticipantThe Clippers with Griffin being out would seem a decent choice, the Mavs never quite replaced Brandan Wright so he could fill that role. GSW always have Bogut on minutes watch so STAT could play around him but having two injury liable guys playing the same position could be an issue.
I’d be interested to know how much money STAT left on the table to get a buy out
Plus can he only sign a contract until the end of the season, no team who had cap space in the summer could offer him vet’s minimum for the rest of this year and then say $3 million for next year all on the same deal.

gopack10ParticipantAtlanta Hawks anyone?
Would be an upgrade over Antic, Brand and Muscala even at his age and skill level.

HitsterParticipantThe Hawks have a fairly set frontcourt roster and Brand doesn’t get many minutes so I don’t see them going in for STAT personally.
