asmartin626ParticipantAm I the only one that laughs every time a sixer fan talks about how Embiid is going to dominate and be double and triple teamed? I mean…kid was hurt in college. Doubtful most of you ever heard of him before that. Then has been hurt and hasn’t played a single game in 2 years. Not only is that showing his lack of durability and more than likely will be an issue for the rest of his short career, but all that potential has been downsized from not played competitive basketball in 2 years. Me and him both have probably had the same workout regimen over the last few years and I’m nothing more than a teacher…he gets paid to travel with the team and shoot jump shots a couple times a week. I admit…I was enamoured by his potential coming out…but it’s time to give up guys. Hopefully, he recovers and becomes what he had the ability to…but to plan on that in all of your posts is completely asinine. I would consider dangling him out there and see if you can get any value out of him. Chances of his career–
Rookie deal runs out, total of less than 50 games in 4 years… = 55%
Playing 5-8 more years, roughly 50-60 games a year at 20+ mins= 35%
Healthy the rest of his career and 70+ games of 30+ mins= less than 10%
Nice to be optimistic, but it’s time to give up on him and if he comes back strong let it be a very nice surprise.

Magic JordanParticipantNo you’re not. I think his career can still be saved in the mold of a Zydrunas type player but most 76er fans reject this notion.

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantI am an actual 76ers fan and My father’s day gift will be season tickets, I am the biggest Embiid supporter on this site
I have never doubted his talentband feel like in a bizarro world where he stays healthy amd gets taken #1 by Cleveland and they build around him, Lebron and Kyrie and we end up with Jabari Parker 3rd
Whats funny is ever since he’s been drafted by Philadelphia pwople seem to forget what type of prospect he truly was, and that he cant sniff potential All Star status after sitting out for 2 seasons
Well what if Im okay with him becoming Big Z or a bigger Patrick Ewing, especially when I feel like we have our franchise Center in Jahlil Okafor
The Big Z comments and parallels actually give me great hope for Embiid because A) Big Z had a solid career and if Joel can give us that type of Impact off the bench backing up Okafor for the next 8 years I will take it B) Medical advancements have occurred over the last 10 years since the Yao’s and Big Z’s of the world were operated on, Im going to give the world class surgeons a little more credit and hope Embiid gives us a Big Z like career

Magic JordanParticipantCongratulations on the season tickets!
You should not confuse skepticism of someone who hasn’t played a game in 2 years with people doubting the original prospect that was Embiid. A healthy Embiid was a better prospect than Anthony Davis and Karl Town in my eyes. But he hasn’t even been healthy enough to get a single NBA minute played so I digress.
I said this the other day but this is watching Greg Oden all over again essentially. At least from a fans perspective. The only difference is Oden actually made it back on the court, and got injured on the court. We haven’t even seen that much from Embiid yet.

MopgrassParticipantDude is just about to come back. Why would people give up now? That is the dumbest time to give up, right before you start.
He looks great in workout videos. Sure, his projections go down a little since he took two years off, but he’s huge, he’s mobile, and he can shoot. I figure he caps at 10-15 minutes a game this year, 15-25 minutes next year, and no restrictions the 3rd year. That might be optimistic to think he doesn’t reinjure himself, but the Sixers have a serious medical staff, and they’ll be cautious.

Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantAm I the only one who just knew before I even clicked on it that this thread would somehow be related to the sixers?
