valentineI had no problems (with the hamstring),” Iverson said to Matt Steinmetz of AOL Fanhouse. “I had a problem with my butt from sitting on that bench so long. That’s the only thing I got a problem with.”
“I’m not a reserve basketball player,” Iverson said to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo!. “I’ve never been a reserve all my life and I’m not going to start looking at myself as a reserve. That’s something for the media to talk about. It’s only a big issue when the media talks about it. The subject never came up in my career until everything happened in Detroit. No one talked about me being a sub or anything like that until last year.
“In all the other years of my career, it’s never come up. I’ve been a starter on All-Star teams, Olympic teams and NBA Finals teams. It’s just a big deal now. I think it is something people should let go. To answer your question, no, I’m not a bench player or the sixth man. Go look at my resume, it will show you that I’m not a sixth man.”
“If we’re winning, I can play 10 minutes and I’m happy,” he said. “When we’re losing, that’s when I trip out.”
“If we’re winning games with me in that (reserve) role, I would be a (jerk) for fighting that,” Iverson said soon after pointing out: “I came off the bench and we still lost.”

gatorheelsParticipantI hate to tell Iverson but Memphis could start him & play him every minute of every game & the Grizzlies still wouldn’t make the playoffs. Terrible signing.

gatorheelsParticipantI don’t know Houston & the Suns are both off to hot starts. I would think one of those two will get the 8th seed.

quincey hodgesyeah key word being hot starts..im not saying memphis will make it but im not gonn asay they wont either..i think that 8th seed could be picked up by a number of teams..i think the other seven is on lock if no big injuries happen..only question is who will be at what position

llperezmemphis has the talent but lacks defesne and a bench. I think Iverson should probably get some more minutes maybe even start ahead of conley with mayo at the point. But it is way too early for him to be saying anything in the media that can even be construed as him complaining. It was his first game back.

IndianaBasketballParticipantExactly what I’m saying. It’s been one game. One loss. In my opinion, Iverson probably has planned on saying this since the day he signed with Memphis. Even if he would’ve played a ton of minutes last night, he still would’ve complained about starting.

The Big OAllen Iverson has a lot of heart, he’s fighting for his reputation, and his next CONTRACT
he has to voice this or else he will be
PIGEONHOLED as a guy who can’t CONTRIBUTE in the NBAthat’s exactly how I felt in high school, strictly politics,
I know he’s an undersized shooter but he’s got a lot of heart
and is a role model for the younger generation of hoopers (questionable shot selection and all lol)Do your thing AI count that paper! 😀
