paradigmnParticipantpg-RAYMOND FELTON…15.5 ppg 8.5 apg 3.6 rpg…I know he was a starter in NY and he actually averages 10 more minutes a game than Lawson, but he’s currently a backup, so he makes the squad. Rodney Stuckey and Jaret Jack were also in consideration.
sg-JASON TERRY…15.8 ppg 4.1 apg 1.9 rpg…This was obviously a toss-up between Terry and Jamal Crawford. The numbers were basically identical so I used shooting percentage as the tie breaker. Terry shot slightly better at 45% compared to Crawford’s 42%. Even though I think Crawford is one of the more exciting players to watch in the NBA, Terry takes the spot.
sf-NICOLAS BATUM…12.4 ppg 1.5 apg 4.5 rpg…This was a difficult positon to pick. I know Batum basically started the whole year until Portland got Wallace, but I wasn’t sure if Andrei Kirilenko was considered a starter or a backup, plus he missed nearly 1/4 of the season due to injury and Shawn Marion started way too many games because of Caron Butler’s injury, so Batum gets the spot.
pf-LAMAR ODOM…14.4 ppg 3.0 apg 8.9 rpg…Sixth-Man of the year…Enough said!!!
c-CHRIS KAMAN…12.4 ppg 7.0 rpg 1.5 bpg…This was another toss-up. I couldn’t decide between Kaman and Marcin Gortat. Kaman averaged 2 more points than Gortat but Gortat had the slight edge in rebounding. I guess it came down to the fact that I used to live in his home town of Grand Rapids Michigan…aka…GunRule(Floyd Maywether’s hood also).

SwatLakeCityParticipantUhmm, Rodney Stuckey shouldn’t even be considered. He starts for Detroit at PG. He does not come off the bench. Maybe you were thinking Ben Gordon, but I doubt it since he is not really a PG. And Chris Kaman was injured for half the year practically, that’s why he came off the bench. Gortat is a much better choice cuz even though he started probably 10-15 Suns games he still played most of the season off the bench and healthy all year, instead of Kaman who spent most of this year hurt. I still can’t believe you considered a Stuckey a bench player, c’mon did you even look at who the Pistons started? I do like your other 3 picks but considering Stuckey, and putting a pretty much injured Kaman over Gortat just kills me.

paradigmnParticipantwell…rodney stuckey is the backup bro…sorry……http://espn.go.com/nba/team/depth/_/name/det/detroit-pistons…and you act like its a slam dunk as far as gortat over kaman…sure gortat can easily be the best center backup…but so can kaman!!!

TdotWave11ParticipantPG Johnny Flynn – missed a lot of the sseason due to injury but had good numbers last year at 14 and 5 i believe. I feel he can still be an above average starting pg.
SG James Harden – 12.1 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.1 apg good all around player with deceptive athleticism.
SF Thaddeus Young – 12.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1 apg efficient scorer(54% fg) and a good defender
PF Darrell Arthur – 9.1 ppg, 4.3 rpg can score inside and from mid.I would say Carl Landry, but I like Darrell alot
C Marcin Gortat – 10.2 ppg, 7.9 rpg never really saw him play this year, but the numbers don’t lie

khal_dragoParticipantlol in all fairness i think that depth chart is wrong, bymun started 5 games and stuckey started 54

OhCanada-ParticipantFelton wouldnt make it because he played to many games in NY as a starter. He obviously would make the ist as best backup now but if your comparing stats its unfair due to his starts so he would be scratche.
Terry is fine.
Batum started way too many games.
Odom is fine, after all he wonthe award.
Kaman only played 32 games the whole season and started half of them.
PG-Jarrett Jack-Id have Jarrett Jack as my PG, he may not be putting up great stats but he is an excellent two way player and team leader who plays within the offense. If anyone watched tonights game against LA they saw his leadership skills in full effec as he held his teammates accountable for all their mistakes and held his own on the court. Perfect backup PG.
SG-Jason Terry-NBA seemed bored with giving him the award…Hopnestly iot should be named after him when he retired. The Jet could easily average 20ppg on a bad team. One of the most underappreciated players in the league.
SF-Al Harrington-The forgotten one. Al is used to having inflated stats on a horrible team, but this year he is contributing on a Nuggets team tt made quite the run after losing Carmelo.
PF-Lamar Odom-Youre right, he won it.
C-Kurt Thomas-Ill give some love to the guy who is always on winning team but never gets shown love. Kurt is a good piece of this Chicago teams depth and oe of the leaders on that sqaud

OhCanada-ParticipantHmm I thougt Gortat was starting for Poenix. He only strted 12 games…I also thought Young started a handful of games for the 76ers but I guess not. Those two are esy additions to mylist in replacement for Thomas and Harrington.

TRC1991Participantthis is a tough subject because so many guys split the season as a starter for half and a backup for half…
the only thing i can confirm is that tdotwave is going to get killed for his post because jonny flynn sucks a lot and played awful this year!

theEDGEParticipantPG- Louis Williams, no starts at all.Farmar could als be considered, because he did great during D-Will’s short time away. Played 75 games with no starts.
SG- J.R. Smith, big time scorer. Played 79 with 6 starts.
SF- C.J. Miles, A shooter who does a little bit of everything else. Played 78 with 19 starts.
PF/C- Ryan Anderson, big man who can hit the 3. Played 64 with 14 starts.
PF/C- Glen Davis, Big Baby is turning in to a Big Man. Played 78 with 13 starts.
Total games played:374
Total games started: 52
Starting % of total games: 13,9

glm51391ParticipantPG- Louis Williams, instant offense for a surprising 7th seed sixers
SG- Jamal Crawford- The 5th seeded hawks needed this scoring machines numbers all year
SF- CJ Miles- you can throw him around the 2 or 3 spot this guy had a few scoring outbursts
PF- Lamar odom- 6th man of the year award does "say it all"
C- Marcin Gortat- this guy was the diamond of the huge trade not pietrus or vince carter
j terry is a honorable mention for the pg/sg spot but I took louis williams due to his impact on a rising team while mavs have other reliable threats such as beaubois, barea and stevenson at the guard slots

providencefriars1ParticipantMy top 5 bench teams would be Nuggets, Suns, Mavs, Lakers, Rockets.
Nuggets- Plain and Simple they have 5 quality guys who could start on many NBA teams. Felton is a very good PG, Smith and Chandler can flat out score the ball and they are two of the most underrated perimeter guys in the NBA. Harrington is a great option at PF because he can step out and hit jumpshots and of course Anderson gives the defensive and shot blocking presence.
Suns-Phoenix’s bench team is set up similar to the Nuggets. Brooks is a good PG, but Felton has the edge. The Suns have two good perimeter players but they cant score as well as Smith and Chandler, but Pietrus is a very good defender. Hakim Warrick gives you a versitale and athletic 4 and Lopez gives you interior defense. Overall Denver has the slight edge in personnel.
Mavs-Another very very solid bench squad. Barea is a solid PG and their perimeter of Peja and Terry can flat out stroke it. Marion gives you an athletic 4 who can play outside like Harrington and Warrick and really thrives in transition. Haywood is a nice center who gives you more offense than Lopez or Anderson. Close pick between Phoenix and Dallas.
Lakers-They have the best overall player, Lamar Odom, but lack a real playmaker. Blake who is a terrific shooter only averged 2.2 APG in 20 mins which is 5.3 per 48, not that impressive for a PG. Barnes and Brown are good perimeter players who can defened, but Ratliff who is a good shot blocker gives you the least offense out of all three previously mentioned 5’s.
Rockets-This team screams versitility. Dragic is a good PG, Lee is a good wing who can give you some scoring, Williams who hasnt lived up to his potential yet was a very good all around player in college who gave you something in every statistical catagory. Patterson has played well this season when given time and Miller is a faceup 5 who can really shot the mid range jumpers well.

SwatLakeCityParticipantMy feeling is that next year the Jazz’s backup lineup will be very good, so good that they will get back to the playoffs next season. Yes, I am but being a little bias and optimistic, of course, but I truly think its possible. Derrick Favors did very very well towards the end of the season. In April he averaged 9.75pts, 7.13 boards, and 1.75 blocks. Most of this was coming off the bench. (I think he only started one game in the month of April) That being said, if he works hard enough in the offseason I think he could start next year sending Millsap to the bench. Then depending on who the Jazz draft (Im hoping its Burks and T. Jones) If so then the Jazz can either move both Miles and Hayward to the bench or move Miles and put Jones on the bench. Both would be good moves. And then you have the fast, deceptive, and highflying backup PG in Ronnie Price.
- Price
- CJ Miles
- T. Jones/Hayward
- Millsap
- Fez/Okur
Dang good bench. You have Ronnie who I already mentioned is fast, highflying, and deceptive. CJ Miles who has had scoring outbursts before, expect him to have some more. both Jones and Hayward are good versatile swingman. You can’t forget Millsap. He practically averages a double double off the bench. (Remember he did that a lot when Utah had Boozer starting over him.) Expect him to do it again if Favors starts over him.
Watch out NBA, here comes another good bench that will surprise everyone again and allow Jazz to once again make the playoffs.

mamadouParticipantTrue suns bench since the trades, when the team tried a PO push(before injuries) was brooks-pietrus-dudley-warrick-gortat…childress out of the rotation, that was a pretty solid bench who could have beaten the starters(weak starting 5 however).
Dudley-gortat beastin’ subs, Dudley and his nose for the game, best dunker in the history of the game,+ gortat 17 double doubles from the bench, easily leads the nba.
@paradigmn.
Put the benchers numbers… for a back up squad.
My 1st team, Sessions-JET-Young-Odom-Gortat.
Take a look at those sessions numbers, he deserves as a true back up PG…
Subs of the subs Lou-Crawford-Harden-Dudley-big baby.
Honorable mention, the entire spurs bench, those hill-neal-bonner, ibaka was a great bencher when used to be.

paradigmnParticipantlooks good!!!…my only complaints for subs of subs are HARDEN is a SG and DAVIS is a C.
0- Posted on: Thu, 04/21/2011 - 7:45am #523766

paradigmnParticipantmeant DAVIS is a PF….sorry….not good multi-tasker…lol
0- Posted on: Thu, 04/21/2011 - 8:06am #523779
mamadouParticipantYep that’s small ball subs of the subs, my top 10 subs in fact…
I really don’t see a 2nd true back up C who deserves, many teams doesn’t have a legit back up C, or doesn’t play him.
Nba…where asik and 38YO’s thomas happens…
6’9-6’10 C or PF-C are the new rule, good thing for D12, good thing for Bismack, Kanter in that draft.
