Who would be you guys’ All-NBA 1st team?

    The guards are pretty easy.

    Steph’s avg 29/5/6 on 50/40/90 splits

    Russ is avg 25/7/9

After that its tricky because I think there’s 3 forwards worthy for a spot & I don’t think any center deserves a spot. Bobogie is putting up great numbers, but its not leading to wins.

Draymond’s getting triple doubles & playing phenomenal defense every night.

Kawhi’s the best perimeter defender in the league & avg 21/7 on 50/50/88 splits.

LeBron’s the best player in the league & is avg 26/7/6 basically while going thru the motions.

Would Draymond be eligible to be a center on the 1st team??

Who do you guys think should be 1st team?

I have to put Kawhi on the 1st team at a forward spot. Not saying who gets demoted to the 2nd team…but you can decide. I’d probably choose Durant.

It’s hard for me to not have Paul George on there as well. I’m honestly not sure Davis deserves 2nd team over Cousins. Just because they’re not winning doesn’t mean he’s not ballin. Davis has not been himself this year.

        Huh?

         Cousins stats: 25.3 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.4 blocks, 3.4 turnovers, 3.8 fouls, 43.6%FG, 32% 3pt, 74.4% FT

        Davis stats: 23.1 points, 11 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.3 steals, 2.6 blocks, 2.3 turovers, 2.4 fouls, 48.9%FG, 27.8% 3pt, 75% FT

While Davis is having a slightly down year from last year across the board, he’s still right next to Boogie in every major category, and completely blows him out of the water when you look at how inefficient Boogie has been this season shooting the ball and taking care of the ball. Don’t see how you can say Boogie is "balling" but Davis hasn’t been.

He really hasn’t been that inefficient. Their numbers are VERY similar.

I’d just put Boogie because he’s a true center, and although Davis is 4/5 combo, I’d give it to cousins because he’s the true big man and a pure 5.

He’s shooting sub 45% from the field and turning the ball over more than 3 times a game. As a big man, thats real inefficient.

Between 44 and 49 isn’t as big of a deal as you’re making it out to be. If you were saying 37 to 49, then yes that’s a difference. But 44 to 49 isn’t bad. You make it sound like he’s no where near Davis’s level of effieceny. Stop drinking that kool aid. Boogie has really expanded his game this year.

Yes the turnovers are high, but he has an extremely high usage rate.

While it would be a nice story, I don’t see Draymond getting put first team, because there are so many other options and I think there’s still this stigma that he’s only putting up the numbers because of the team concept, and it will take a few seasons before media members start fully respecting what he does. Definitely a lock for 2nd team though. LeBron is a lock. Durant is still averaging 27/8/4, and I still feel like people are relunctant to put Kawhi in top 10 conversations in the media, and since the media votes on it I don’t think Kawhi’s getting first team over an established star like Durant, whose having a great season in his own right. Though, as you say, they might just put 3 forwards into first team, and in that case I think Kawhi has the best case for the last spot, Blakes putting up good stats but the team isn’t winning the same way San Antonio is, Anthony Davis is having a down year from last year and the team is struggling so I don’t think he has a stronger case than Kawhi unless you want to say that there needs to be at least one big man on the team, which I would disagree with, but it may come down to that in the voters eyes.

I never understood why All-NBA teams aren’t more strict with having 1 player at each position.

    Can someone explain the logic?

Particularly PG and SG…which are distinctly different positions. If anything…SG is closer to SF as both are ‘wing’ positions that play off the ball.

Westbrook and Curry are both PGs….One should miss out on the 1st team cos now it has no SG’s.

Seems harsh…but if you’re the 2nd best PG in the league then you belong on the 2nd team.

Is it just grouped as ‘backcourt’…if so…its not really reflective of how the sport is played.

Russ is enough of a combo guard to deserve the 2 spot. I also think you’re right, the back court doesn’t seem to be as strict about position. But same with the forwards. Durant has made the team as a 4 when he’s not. But I guess in today’s NBA he can be.

Kyle Lowry should be on the all nba 3rd team this year if the Raptors can stay near the top of the Eastern conference.

He’s pure heart and hustle, and keeps Toronto in games with his Kobe like will to win. He’s also one of the better defenders in the association.

Sure Lillard is having a great season, but if his teams record comes into play I think Lowry will be taking that spot.

     Going with STRICT positions:

    1st Team:

    PG Steph Curry

    SG James Harden

    SF LeBron James

    PF Draymond Green

    C Andre Drummond

    2nd Team

     PG Russell Westbrook

    SG  Jimmy Butler

    SF   Kawhi Leonard

    PF    Blake Griffin

    C     DeMarcus Cousins

    3rd Team

    PG Chris Paul

    SG  Klay Thompson

    SF  Kevin Durant

    PF  Anthony Davis

    C   Hassan Whiteside

I KNOW that they don’t go strictly by position, but it is something to think about.  This would actually help Draymond Green.  I think he would get the nod over Blake or Anthony Davis.

Draymond Green has had a great year so far.  Right now, he would actually start in the All Star Game if voting ended today.  I think he deserves to be on one of the All NBA teams.  Unfortunately for him the forward positions are LOADED, but I would argue that he has had the best year of any power forward so far.

Well done. By strict position, this is a pretty good list – no complaints here.  It really would be splitting hairs and reflecting personal preferences if argued otherwise.

It’s hard right now, for me, to especially separate the players at the small forward position (James, Leonard, Durant).  Any one of those are arguably top-five in the NBA and are all at the same position.  And, Paul George is right behind them.  I’d love to have any of them on my Lakers!

A couple things I could see bosh or millsap taking a 3rd team forward spot depending on how long griffin & davis’ injuries, & swapping green on the 2nd team. The second thing cousins’s talent says he is the best center in the league but, I think he settles for too many jumpers considering his advantage physically against everyone who guards him, also his free throw %,needs to come up & thus the kings who I picked to make the playoffs continuously lose close games when his 44fg% could be closer to 50.

If you don’t think Paul George is not at least on the 2nd team. He’s having an MVP type season, IMO the Pacers would be the 3rd worst team in the league without him
