I remember alot of people were really high on him coming out of Detroit Country Day, then Oak Hill. He bounced around schools a bit, but has now landed with Isiah Thomas at FIU, which is like 10 minutes from where I grew up. Alot of my friends go there, and The old coach Sergio Roucco was a great man, brother of a great man who ran the boys and girls club I grew up playing at. I never really knew about sports there though, UM dominates Miami.

Does anyboy know more about his game? Or why he has transferred twice? Was he just overhyped, or is he still an elite talent?

They got a top 50 type kid Dominique Ferguson, and landed the 10 ranked center Chris Coleman for 2011. For the Sun Belt, Isiah is starting to rack up some high level talent, Does anybody think he can set up a new power program, like Butler, Gonzaga, or Sienna in that conference?

Im pretty familiar with Legion, he is from Detroit and I live in Detroit….He was really good in High School but I think he was more hype than substance, he could never stay put anywhere, transferred alot in high school too…He should be okay at FIU, heck he has got to be about 22 or 23 years old…

I think he name still resonates strongly in Detroit, which is why he was able to successfully “over-recruit” a few guys with Michigan ties. He can also sell kids and parents on the fact that there are guys like Paul George and Hassan Whiteside who can go to mid-major schools and leave early for the NBA. While his rep took a beating in New York, Isiah still has NBA connections and knows as much about the NBA as anyone. We will see whether FIU makes a jump this year. His best players last year were his JUCO recruits, and now he will mix in some highly regarded freshmen with Legion joining on in 2011-12. I don’t Legion is a bad player, but he got into a shooting funk at Illinois and wasn’t good enough at everything else to keep earning minutes when his shots weren’t falling.

Isiah should have the talent to compete in the Sun Belt, but if he finds success I don’t know if it will take much for him to jump on offers from bigger programs. How long before Indiana gets impatient with Creen? They are just up the road from Kentucky, and can’t help but see the difference in how long it has taken Creen versus Calipari.

He’s 21 or 22, he was the same class as Nolan Smith (same Oak Hill team). He’s a shooter, nothing really more. Kentucky then to Illinois..hopefully he’s found his niche, cause he’s barely played ball and is no where near the NBA in terms of exposure and skills

Bothteamsplayedhard- Cal is a used cars salesmen who doesnt rebuild programs, he finds the best kids each year to star for one year then they leave..so on and so forth. There’s a reason he’s never won a national title; his teams never have any experience. His memphis team almost won, but they couldnt hit a free throw to save their life. Cal said they’d make them when they had to, and they didn’t. He’s a top notch recruiter, a decent coach, and will get lucky one of these years.
But kids wanna play for cal cause of the system..he’s the “in” guy right now, and the dribble drive offense will ALWAYS be “in” when it comes to high school kids who wanna showcase their talents. It’s all about the system.

Crean is building a program by getting 5-6 man classes with kids that can stay 3-4 years. They should make the tournament this year, cause its year 3 and he better start showing results. All rebuilding processes are said to take 3-4 years, so we’ll see how it goes.

One-and-dones and the NIT weren’t good enough for Mike Davis after taking them to the title game not too long ago. I don’t think Tom Creen has won as many games as Davis did in his worst year at Indiana, or at least it is close. If you want to believe Hoosiers will be patient with another brutal year, feel free. I think that team stunk last year, and wasn’t anywhere close to being good, so in my eyes it is just a matter of time before he feels the heat.

BTW, I think Creen is a good coach, but he should have never left a good situation at Marquette for that mess. The job wasn’t as good as the name.

It was a good job if he was assured patience, which he was. Top 10 or 15 job in the country for a coach, and while there were issues, he would get the opportunity to start from scratch with his own kids.

He just can’t recruit there right now.

Alex Legion is awful, FIU is the 4th school he has either committed to or played for. On your other point, I believe that Isiah Thomas can build a powerhouse if he continues to recruit as he is currently.

I think Isiah Thomas could build a powerhouse but not at FIU. I think the more talent he brings in, the more a big school will look at him.

Legion was wayyyyy overhyped out of high school obviously, but his attitude was also a concern. He’s been to 3 schools now lol, I thought he was still at Illinois.
