Alec Burk is definitely one of the most talented players in the draft.  He came into college as a point guard then grew into a shooting guard.  The knock on him is his Jump Shot needs work but what 20 year doesnt need work on their shot besides Durant and Euro Players.   Watching video him, I noticed that he looks to be a cross between McGrady and Derozan.  Lets see if his motor is strong and he has the mentality.

He’s this years Brandon Roy of the Draft

    What yalls take on this?

uh well Brandon Roy was the Rookie of the Year and has been a 2 time All Star. I’m not sure Burks will ever be an All Star plus his game is nowhere near as polished as Roy when coming into the league. Though Burks is more athletic, dude shot 30% from 3 this year at Colorado, that’s not Brandon Roy-ish

Well, I don’t see him becoming the next Brandon Roy, or moreover "the best in the Draft", simply because he lacks an efficient jumper that guys like Derrick Williams and Kyrie Irving have. With a decent jumpshot, he might become a good player, but I don’t think he’s gonna become like Brandon Roy at his best, which is a top-3 SG.

"what 20 year doesnt need work on their shot"

Well in this case it’s more than work, I mean just in this draft you have a guy like Jordan Hamilton who doesn’t need much work on it, and even anybody else.

I’m not saying that there’s no way he’s gonna be as successful as a guy like Roy, just that it is far from being done.

While I’m not quite as high on Burks as you are, I do appreciate the boldness of your statement. I get the sense that a lot of the basketball junkies put so much stock into pre-draft rankings and "expert analysis" that they become convinced that Chad Ford or Aran Smith can predict the future flawlessly.

The reality is that when you look back at each draft about five to 10 years later and you put together your list of the best 10 players in that class, they come from all over the draft. There’ll be players taken in the 20s that end up as top-five players in that class. There’ll be a couple guys in the 40s that may be the eighth or ninth best players in the class.

When someone makes a bold prediction on this message board, people always seem to jump all over him, tell him he’s crazy, that guy won’t be that good, etc., etc., when really, he might be.

Brandon Roy only shot 22% from three his sophomore year and 33% for his college career

Burks has a lot of good tools to become a good player, but best in the draft and some have mentioned ROY?  I feel he isn’t very NBA ready, he’s not very strong, he’s a good scorer, but playing the NBA 2 will be a lot different than being a ball dominant player for Colorado who really only had 1 other weapon in Higgins and no decent post player.  The only real scenario where I can see him playing good minutes next year is if he lands on a team that runs a lot.

I think Burks will be a good player ( not an All-Star ) but he’s not going to have a big impact as a rookie.  I can’t picture him starting for any team in the 9-15 range that might take him.  I don’t think he’ll average more than 7 or 8 ppg as a rookie, but we’ll known more about that when we see what team takes him.

What i said was a bold statement but I see that he does have the smooth stroke and watching footage, I saw his creating for his teammate who werent all that good.   He is also an excellent rebounder.  His shooting in college were along the lines of Roy’s.  We’ll see if Burk will have the mentality like Roy does or end up being like a player like Rudy Gay.

I also do like what I see in Irving and Kanter,  Im very high on both.

    We’ll see what happens

i’m not worry about Burks outside shooting, i think he will develop to a good 3 point shooter, you can see by his ft% that he has nice stroke, his problam right now with the outside shot is him being off balanced, somthingcan that can be fix and when it happened it will solve his poor 3%.

i’m very high on Burks, i think he is a top 3 player in this draft potential wise!
