MrHogan87706ParticipantRead on RealGm article that Al Jefferson could be going to Charlotte depending on Dwight Howard & Dallas Mavericks situation. I like Al in Charlotte & Dallas but he’s better fit in Dallas and they could be contender for playoffs too. Al and Dirk nice duo down in the front court offense and defense too. He shouldn’t go to Charlotte cause I know he’s get more money there and he will be losing team plus Charlotte still on rebuilding too it will be awhile before they go to playoffs.

Sewok15ParticipantIf by nice duo on defense you mean they both avoid playing it at all costs then yes Dirk and Al would be quite the duo on defense.
I don’t know why Charlotte would sign Al when they are one more bad year away from being a decent team. Al would put them in the race for 8th which is not where they should want to be. There are only a select few teams that should be happy with 8th place this year and they are the Cavs, Wiz and Twolves who have been rebuilding the last 3+ years and owe it to their fans to show they are making progress…most other non-playoff teams are sadly better off playing for the ping pong balls.

esperanzafleet69Participanti completely disagree with you on al’s defense. he’s not a bad defender by any means when considering his size (6’9) and who he usually has to defend when playing with millsap..

CodySLCParticipantHe’s a pretty good shot blocker, but a bellow average defender. I hear rumors Charlotte may offer him the max. Which would be a mistake.

festar35ParticipantThe way I have read this is that the Mavs have shown no interest and that in hopes of avoiding Charlotte Al Jefferson would like to wait and see if the Mavericks would want his services.
I can see it working in Dallas if they hold onto Wright as a defensive big man who can come on at 4 or 5 and give them the defense they will not be getting from Dirk or Big Al.

Sharp ShooterParticipantEven with AL in Dallas, they would not be a contender…They’ll be luck if they make the playoffs (I doubt)…They still wouldn’t have a guard. or SF. (Vince Carter is aging). Mark Cuban has his work cut out for him.

Sewok15ParticipantI completely agree. I am as high on Shane Larkin as anyone is but he is not ready to lead a team to the playoffs. The Blazers were a more talented team last year and led by ROY Lillard and they didn’t even sniff the playoffs. Much like the Blazers of last year this Dallas team will likely have no bench whatsoever. Unless Dirk is playing at an MVP level again it will be a tough chore to make the playoffs in the loaded Western Conference.

esperanzafleet69Participantthis situation is still completely dependent on the lakers… and im betting my bottom dollar they dont trade him to a team in the same division.. theyre not about to hand over the reigns of the pacific for bogut, thompson, or barnes…

invalidParticipantwhy wouldn’t the mavs just join the tanking teams this season, no star wants to play there and they’ll be a mediocore team again for one year if they sign random average players. i know cuban and dirk are commited, but dirk and al would not bring a championship and dirk cant wait for more years to have better supporting cast

sammybuckeye13ParticipantIn the right situation he could thrive and actually win…if he takes a slight pay cut to sign with a team equipped to compete. As a jazz fan I’m not in favor of resigning him but I love to watch him play, his post game is peerless. If he had hops he would put up 25 a game. Could be so effective with a top defensive team.

PabloFiascoParticipantPlease don’t come to Charlotte!!! Go play for a playoff contender not a bottom dweller
