Per Woj and The Vertical, Al Jefferson has signed a 3 yr/$30 mil deal with Indiana

I’ve already said I think the Pacers will be a top 3 seed in the East, and this move solidifies my stance. Getting Jefferson for $10 mil a year while Mozgov got 16, Bird making great moves

Pacers look scary. They just added Teague, Young, Jefferson and McMillan one of my all-time favourite coaches. Turner will be a year older, PG-13 has asserted himself as an elite player. They have the potential to be contenders in the East and are right there with Toronto. So far they have byfar made the most improvement in the off season. Bird making the Lakers look stupid till the day he dies.

Relative to what Mozgov is getting paid…really good deal for the Pacers.  I wonder how he fits with the idea that they want to be more of a running team.

I think Al Jefferson will be the first big guy off the bench and will likely only see minutes at center. He probably doesn’t hurt them running as long as he’s used in that sense. He can get the rebound and make the pass that starts the break.

It’s funny to realize a 3 year $30 million deal is actually a fairly team friendly deal in this new massively rising salary cap era.

It’s not really going to hurt them come playoff time when the game slows down and you need a guy that can get you buckets down low in the half court. Great underrated signing

So what do people see the starting lineup being? Personally I’d love to see them go Teague-Miles-George-Thad-Turner, but they might go Mahinmi starting and have Turner backup Thad or come in and play smallball 5 for Mahinmi then slide over to 4 when Al comes in. They’ve got options and a lot of flexibility now

think we need to see if theyll resign mahinmi first. with the way bigs are getting paid, i wouldnt be surpised to see someone pay him more than indiana’s acceptable range.

The Pacers still wanted Mahinmi, but his agent notified them they can’t afford him now… So he’s gone. Assuming Mahinmi is looking for north of $10 million.

I see them going with Teague, Ellis, George, Young and Jefferson to start. Would like a defensive guard to start instead of Ellis, but they’ll need to get one of those before moving him to the bench. I like Turner off the bench as he will have to earn his minutes plus he can play the 4 or the 5.

Also, Mahinmi is most likely gone in my mind with this signing taking place.

There are rumors the Pacers are looking to dump Ellis. He doesn’t fit with Teague and he’ll prob become disgruntled if he comes off of the bench.

The Pacers still have about $10 million in cap… Assuming they’ll go after a 3 and D wing or a stretch 4.

Would be nice to see them  pick up a guy like Afflalo, Courtney Lee or Dudley.

Courtney Lee is an Indianapolis kid too. He and Jeff Teague played high school ball together actually.

great pickup by the PAcers and for sure very good value for a guy with his skills with this cap space numbers. Maybe the best bargain so far.

Still, Not locking up Solomon Hill forth year in rookie money really hurt their chances being top 4 team in the east, sucks to lose this kind of hard nose, glow guy and up coming player, having him around those players they got could have made a lot of different!

I agree, but hindsight is 20/20. He was awful in summer league and the beginning of the season. Didn’t even look like a NBA player. Wish he did smh because like you wrote, he’s exactly what the Pacers need. Could’ve had him at like $2.3 million too. Happy for Solo tho.
