I dont see this guy play sf in the nba. from the highlights i’ve been watching he seems to be like a good stretch pf like an antwon jamison but he can shoot as good as jamison. i really like this guy from the tape i’ve watched and he seems like he’d be a perfect fit in a run and gun system playing the 4.

    what do you guys think?

i feel the same way. thts a good observation actually, he has some jamison in him, but we all know jamison doesnt have the atheltic ability that aminu has.

i know aminu will be a good player, but im not sure if he will a guy like will earn multiple all star apperences.

I think he sucks….how can he be a stretch PF without any thing resembling a jumpshot….I honestly think he will be a better version of Mbah a Mute a defensive stopper with a little bit better offensive game

He’s more of a Josh Smith-type than Antwaan Jamison. And no, he’s not the shooter Jamison is. He relies more on athleticism and length than Jamison does to score. Also going to be a better defender than Jamison has ever been. I think Aminu is going to be a solid player. He’s not polished right now, but he still has the athleticism to contribute immediately in the NBA as a mismatch combo forward on offense, and as a rebounder and versatile defender.

i mean aminu doesnt have the ball handling of a SF, same as jamison, but we all know aminu has great athelitism, but i dont think its on the same level of j smoove. smith is an absoulute freak!

i like the josh smith comparison but we all know he’s not on that level. i think if aminu works on he game offensively he can he a very good and very complete player in the league. he definately needs to work on his just shot but i like the way he slashes and he’s pretty good with his back to the basket

So he’s not the shooter that Jamison is, but he is definetley not the athlete that Smith is. Although Aminu is a GREAT athlete, Smith may be one of the best in the world for his size. You think a mix of Jamison and Smith is a fair comparison for his ceiling Iggy 9?

Of course I mean a young Jamison who was more athletic than he is now, and wasn’t quite the shooter he is now, although he was still decent in that reguard.

I’m fine with that comparison honestly. But he is just so much like Josh Smith was when Smith was a rookie. I remember Smith vividly when he was a rookie, but I was too young to really remember Antwaan Jamison when he was that young.

I was only like 8 when Jamison was a rookie so I don’t really remember him all that well either. He reminds me a real lot of Smith, the only thing that is different is that I would rank Aminu a 9 in athleticism and Smith a 10.

Better rebounder and defender than Young, but there are some similarities.

I just can’t compare him to Josh Smith, Josh Smith is one of the better shot blockers of his generation. More athletic Antawn Jamison is all I can say.

I’ve watched about 80% of his college games (big Wake fan) and I can say that he runs the floor about as well as anyone his size I’ve ever seen. He is not a tremendous leaper like Josh Smith, but he is a very good shot blocker, defender, and transition player. I might actually compare him to someone like a young Kirilenko. Long, fast, decent leaper, very good shot blocker, suspect jumper.

Pureshooter – since you’ve obviously watched him more than i have tell me what you think about him offensively. i think he’s a good slasher and transition player with some decent back to the basket moves but not a good jump shot. what do you think?

how you can’t see that the best comparison for him is Gerald Wallace? they play exactly the same, the same type of SF who can play PF in a small lineup, both freakish rebounders who gets block and steals, offensive game also a like!

Gerald Wallace is probably the best case scenario here, but Aminu isn’t as athletic as Wallace.

    He’s not a Josh Smith-type player either. That’s a big misconception.

Josh Smith is an elite leaper with a 39 inch max vertical and top 10 shot blocker.

Aminu is neither (33.5 inch max vertical, 1.4 blocks per game), which hardly makes him “Josh Smith.” Luke Babbitt (37.5 inch max vertical) and Gordon Hayward (34.5 inch max vertical) recorded higher max verticals than Aminu.

Aminu is more like a less athletic version of Hakim Warrick coming out of Syracuse.

    Same size 6’7.25″
    Same skills
    Same range (or lack thereof)

Warrick was a better finisher though, while Aminu couldn’t shoot straight.

    Final college season:

    FG%
    Warrick 54.8%
    Aminu 44.7%

    3-POINT FG%
    Warrick 29.0%
    Aminu 27.3%

Bascially, he doesn’t have elite level athleticism to overcome his poor shooting, which is a definite red flag. The team that drafts Aminu in the lottery could be making a huge mistake.

I view him as one of the players in the lottery most likely to bust.
